Cute tiny store with really friendly staff. It is a small area but there is lots to look through, a little bit of local merch and random little gift items, kind of a playful hippie vibe overall. I ended up grabbing a Woodstock baseball cap, and the guy working there was super fun to talk to about it. Unique! Clever! Interesting! Fun! Packed with things you never knew you wanted or needed!!! And you do!!!! There are items I've never seen before and could not identify if I had an hour to do so. That's half the fun! There's magical stuff for kids of all ages. Unicorn has a spectacular assortment of cards. Unicorn is such an odd store. Walking past I assumed it was a crystal shop. My husband thought it was a game store. Honestly, looking at their window display it's really unclear what they specialize in. I walked in and headed toward the less crowded back area but when I got an odd hello and stare I ended up leaving while the honey shopped. The local general store had a wonderful games section that was so much more nicely laid out. Overall I preferred them to this smaller strange set up. read more

What a**holes. Worst customer service with a sarcastic and condescending female shopkeeper. I asked for a silver cased opal pendant because I didn't happen to see one in the case of many different and varied opal items and she gave me a snotty response that I won't go into except to say that she literally started counting them out to me instead of just pulling them out to show me. I just said thank you (even though I wanted to say other not so nice things) and walked away. Not gonna get my money! Otherwise, a sloppy, but relatively cute store so I gave it two stars. read more

This little toy store in Woodstock, VT took me back to the old days of growing up. A lot of the items sold were toys I had grown up with or had seen other kids with that are no longer popular or hip. (Wow I'm old now just thinking this) This store carries items from the classic pin art (the square box with needles that you could make a copy of your face with in raised metal) to crystal growing kits. I mainly browsed the selection of items and revealed in the nostalgia all while my fiancee tried to make heads and tails of what she viewing. (She is Chinese and didn't grow up with these items so it took some explaining). Anyway that is off topic. Overall the name of the store lends itself well to what it sells as many of these items are so rare or forgotten that they might as well be mythical like the Unicorn itself. read more

The store is a real gem. They have more inventory than you could possibly find in three hours. It's a store for all ages. The owner Jeff is amazing and so knowledgeable about everything he has. The inventory has everything from a child's imagination of dreams come true to fine gifts for adults. It has an incredible inventory of spectacular knives. There. Is an incredible selection of jewelry of all kinds for everybody at various costs. I noticed one person here on Yelp thought Jeff was suspicious because he was black and this is his issue because Jeff is anything but racist. Jeff is always walking around the store to see if there's anything he can do to help people for what they need and I'm sure that the theft there is probably high because the incredible inventory and small area. But whoever responded that he was racist who was black it is really his issue. I highly recommend the store for anybody of all ages finding any gift for anybody you'll definitely will find it here! I have shopped there often and always manage to buy their funny cards and unique gifts. The last two times I have been in there, I have had to wait for the woman to wait on me. This past weekend, I was waiting at the counter ready to check out. She looked right at me and kept chatting with friends. I finally put the items down and left. Was nearly nailed to a stake! I was sanitizing my hands but had forgotten to pull my mask up. A customer YELLED to the woman behind the counter, "THAT WOMAN HAS NO MASK!" I immediately felt so bad for the poor woman who had no mask, when I realized it was me! As I was panicking, apologizing and pulling my mask up as quickly as I could, the woman behind the counter pointed and yelled at me, "IM SORRY BUT YOU NEED A MASK- actually, IM NOT SORRY! The lack in high rating is not necessarily based on the store itself but the female owner/ clerk whoever was running the store at the time. Although the store was cute, there are many other stores on the same street that have similar items so that's why I gave this store a low rating ( not too unique). The clerk was very rude and pushy. First off I picked a necklace that I liked that cost 25$, and she very seriously stated " feel free to shop around more and buy something more expensive". Then I was showing some bracelets to my boyfriend who didn't like any of them, that seemed to agitate the owner that he didn't like the bracelets. Last but not least unbeknownst to the store owner/ clerk ( older woman with glasses) my father was in the same store. He was cashing out while I waited behind him to purchase my necklace. I went to my boyfriend who was standing at the store door to get some cash and the lady said to my father " oh well she couldn't get out of this store fast enough." She kept going on and talking about it to which my father replied " she's not that bad she's my daughter". She then apologized and said she didn't know what she was talking about. My father didn't tell me this until we left the store, otherwise I wouldn't have bought the necklace. Wonderful store - for kids and adults! A great mix of 'classic' toys from the 80s and earlier and new/STEM toys. Extremely unique and well curated selection. The owners were masked/gloved and offered hand sanitizer and ensured everyone in the store wore a mask - as well as kept to their state mandated capacity. The owners suggested a few items (inexpensive) in a way that didn't feel intrusive and that my girls and husband loved - and after we completed our purchases (which were in aggregate below $60), gifted my girls a wonderful free toy, that was more expensive than any of the individual items we purchased, and provided a whimsical story about why they were receiving it. Would definitely go back the next time we visit Woodstock! read more

I live in town and this is one of the shops I shop in. There is a good collection of locally crafted jewelry and really cool crafted items. Check out the glass worlds. There is a selection of kitschy humorous cards and plenty of weird and wonderful stuff you will not find anywhere else. This is a must stop if only to tickle you funny bone. I found a great traveling telescoping bear claw back scratcher for my wife that collapses and fits in her pocketbook. I went there today, the woman shop keeper was overwhelming rude to me. I had entered the store earlier and looked around, and decided to come back later. I was having a hard time making a choice between a music box or a sun catcher. The woman was right behind me and whispered to her coworker "this b*tch was here an hour ago and didn't buy anything" ignored it and went on to text my friend. I saw that the sun catcher was online, and was about to decide on the music box. All I asked was where she got them from (not intending to buy it somewhere else) and I got a snarky reply about how it was "small business day" and that I was being rude. As I apologized the woman screamed at me and my friend had to escort me out of the store because I had a panic attack. When my friend went back into the store to buy me what I had wanted, she addressed the woman. All the woman said to her was "it's fine it happens all the time" and didn't apologize. She just made more snarky remarks. It's a very cute store, but the management is very rude and inconsiderate. I have been to Unicorn countless times and have never been been more uncomfortable in a shop more than I have here. The staff is rude and condescending. The only reason I return is because my children love the variety of offerings. There are plenty of nicer and friendlier shops in Woodstock. This is my son's favorite store in Woodstock. That being said, it is fun for all ages. They have a huge jewelry section filled with all sorts of affordable silver jewelry up to beautifully hand made artisan jewelry. They carry all sorts of whimsical cards, toys and games for both children and adults and a large selection of unusual and entertaining gifts. for the past 15+ years we've visited the store every time we're up from Florida - at least twice a year - never had any problem with employees or the owner - in fact they were fun as we shopped pointing out truly wacky items - of course every time we're there we walk out with something - one of the best things we bought was a monkey with a cape attached to a bungee cord, when the monkey was launched it screamed all the way across the room until it landed - cool stuff and even better cards for any occasion read more
