This little toy store in Woodstock, VT took me back to the old days of growing up. A lot of the items sold were toys I had grown up with or had seen other kids with that are no longer popular or hip. (Wow I'm old now just thinking this) This store carries items from the classic pin art (the square box with needles that you could make a copy of your face with in raised metal) to crystal growing kits. I mainly browsed the selection of items and revealed in the nostalgia all while my fiancee tried to make heads and tails of what she viewing. (She is Chinese and didn't grow up with these items so it took some explaining). Anyway that is off topic. Overall the name of the store lends itself well to what it sells as many of these items are so rare or forgotten that they might as well be mythical like the Unicorn itself.

Cute little shop with a lot of unicorn gift ideas. Gems, jewelry, cards, coloring books and other small gifts.

It is a small area but there is lots to look through, a little bit of local merch and random little gift items, kind of a playful hippie vibe overall.

When a loved one passes, have you ever felt the need to donate the money left to you to a jewelry…read morestore? What?? You say "no"?? huh, isn't that funny? I didn't either!! Well, NT Ferro's felt the need to take such from my family? What am I talking about? Well, read on............ Our grandmother had recently passed and left some heirlom jewlery to us. We had it appraised at another reputable jeweler and were told a certain amount. With that said, we then took it to NT Ferro's- what a mistake! NT Ferros is where we took our recently inherited jewelry to see what our options were as far as reselling/consigning and have what we were hoping to be a positive experience. You may want to grab a chair as you may feel sick and floored the same way I did, to the point that you can't even stand. The jewelry that we left in the trust of their hands (as well as upon their request that we leave in their possesion) was then held for ransom like a hijacked train and with the appraisal at half the amount of what was originally told to us from the previous reputable jeweler. We were then told that the items would only be released upon a fee of $50! Are you kidding!! Talk about taking advantage of someone in their time of requesting help!! Well we must have known about this you say?? I even had to second guess myself but there was absolutely no mention, nothing in writing. Only a claim ticket of the items-that was it. Maybe you say that they cleaned the items, restored them, etc.....nope. They were in the exact same condition. Maybe you say they went out of their way to research the items further........nope. They tried to tell us they were only willing to give us a considerable amount (basically half!) of the appraised value we were originally quoted. Even the mall kiosks would offer more than that (not that this is what I was looking to do, but it was that insulting) Maybe they came back with some kind of golden ticket or back rub at least???? NO!! The only thing NT Ferros should have offered us along with all this aggrevation is some advil for all the headache and pain they caused! Heck, even some Pepto for the fact that they made me sick to my stomach! Avoid this place at all costs, unless your in the mood to go in your backyard and pick a few bills off your money tree to throw into the garbage.

Not only is this a gorgeous art gallery, but it's a very unique AirBnB as well! I mean, how often…read moredo you get to stay in a studio suite located INSIDE an art gallery?? I felt like I was in Night at the Museum after business hours haha!! The hostess, Lee Ann and her husband were the sweetest, most considerate hosts I've ever had!! Not only were they extremely thorough, communicative, and available, but they made me feel so welcome and at home! They even had a basket full of goodies waiting for me - including some incredible varieties of homemade muffins that were some of the best I've ever had! The suite is located just off to the side inside the actual art gallery but there's plenty of privacy - you can enter through the gallery or through your own private back door so it's totally not an issue. The suite itself was immaculate and HUGE!! Especially the bathroom!! Complete with a dining table, couch and little sink/microwave/fridge area. The WiFi worked well - no issues. And the TV even had nice cable available. But there's so much to keep you busy in the area I hardly watched it. There's a perfect porch off the suite with patio seating, a grill, and incredible views of the mountains! I was there in early October and was just a tad too early for peak fall colors - but the color was starting to come in. I imagine it's positively breathtaking at peak fall color!! And they had some hummingbird feeders outside the windows which was such a joy!! The grounds are extensive - there's a huge field outback with a river at the base of the mountains - tons of birds chirping! The gallery is also centrally located in proximity to tons of ski areas and lovely towns/cities like Montpellier, Woodstock, Killington, etc. Great location!! The suite is very handicap accessible- even the bathroom and shower - very well set up for it. Parking is in their private gravel lot outside the gallery. The art work is just lovely as well and made by the hosts - so talented!! I had such an awesome experience- can't say enough good stuff about it! I will definitely be back anytime I'm in the area!

    Amidon Jewelers - Engagement ring

This weekend my husband and I went into Amidons by the Powerhouse Mall in West Leb.l for Christmas…read more I found a pair of Italian gold hoop earrings I loved and noticed a nick in the gold on one earring and a large abrasion/wear on the other. I asked if another pair could be ordered and they weren't sure because it was the weekend and they needed to reach out to the manufacturer. Today they called me back to say it's out of stock. What got to me is that they were perfectly comfortable selling those earrings to me with damage and tried explaining to me that it's the type of polished gold and it will mark up eventually anyways. If you spend $1,000 on a pair of earrings, you want them in nice condition to begin with. I asked if they could fix the damaged ones on display (bc I loved them that much) and the sales rep said no. It's my second bad experience there. Last time I brought my great grandmothers ring there to get it sized. The jeweler accidentally sized down to a thinner band. When I went to pick it up I noticed it right away. The sales rep never apologized and after the rep confirmed the error on the order, they just offered to refund me for the lesser gold. I didn't trust them to take my ring again at this point to fix it. I didn't want this ring to keep getting resized several times when they should've gotten right the first time. I was extremely disappointed because it was a 75+ year old family diamond ring I was gifted to me. It has significant sentimental value to my family and I felt as though it wasn't a big deal to them and just another job to do. I'm not one to make a big deal about things but since this was my second poor experience there. First with the sizing of a family heirloom and second with not caring enough about a piece they're going to sell at full price with visible damage to it. You would think they would care enough about the pieces they sell to be in new condition. I wouldn't have even bought it at a discounted price due to the damage. Wish I took pictures of them to post but in the moment I didn't think of doing this.
