I found quite a few goodies here, for myself and for friends. If I were checking a bag, I would have bought so much more! The couple(?) that runs the place are very friendly. It's a bonus that this place is right next to where we're staying and there's a walking trail between the two! They have a great variety of maple products; sweet, savory, skincare, etc. Dog treats and toys, games for the family, household decor and more!

The other reason for the low review is the older woman behind the desk. I don't know what her problem was but she wasn't pleasant at all. My family and I are in VT for the first time ever and we only have one day so upon checkout we asked if there were any places open for us to go. The lady frantically tried to think of something, never once looking up at me when she spoke. Never smiled, never looked at me, told me a place that might be open and then walked away. It was off putting.

My eye was more drawn to the Historical Marker in front and then I had to stop and check inside…read more The marker reads, "Old Stone Shop. Built in 1848, by Batcheller & Sons, makers of pitchforks. For many years after 1808, farm implements were manufactured here. Lyman Batcheller & his sons bought the forge in 1835, and their forks became famous throughout the U.S. and Europe. In 1902 they merged with the firm making True Temper products, which re-built the Inn." The marker was erected in 1949 by the Vermont Historic Sites Commission. Inside, not just farm implements but jewelry and toys and furniture and cutting boards and glassware and pottery. It's just amazing to see all of this stuff that is, well, hand made in Vermont. The Village Green Gallery serves a great niche in Weston. For tourists: The town is in a deadzone for internet, and the cafe offers tables to sit at to check your email. Only, the connection is unreliable in the 6+ times I've visited over the past 2 years. I find the prices for coffee and light pastries to be very expensive, and the service not that great, although there is careful attention paid to keep it all local. In comparison to the tsotchke knick-knacks of the Vermont Country Store and the Weston Village Store, the fine crafted pottery, jewelry, glasswork, and photographs are a breath of fresh air. All the pieces, while expensive, are truly a sight to behold. And there are a handful of intentionally lower-priced items like note cards and glass rings for sale, too. For locals: the Fuji'is host the Weston Film Club for monthly viewings and discussions on foreign and independent films. They also host a book club and open up the space for other community meetings. I highly recommend a viewing (usually during the week) of the Film Club. Pop in to browse! The location right on the West Village Green can't be beat! While this is a favorite, I treat it more like a museum to view the artwork, as there's little there that I can afford there and I've never been wowed by the hospitality of Mrs. Fuji, who's usually behind the counter of the cafe. Look elsewhere for food. Look no further if you need to check your email and want to be inspired by the artwork.

I went there for their Memorial Day sale and this is quite an expensive store but they had a 10% off sale for the whole store. I eagerly went inside and realized that all of their items have been marked up. When I asked a women who worked there if the sale was the cheaper price under the more expensive sticker price she stated that it was 10% off the remarked price. She said they came from their other warehouse, I asked if all the pottery was made in the back studio and she said they had "another studio". There was still no explanation for why everything had the prices marked up JUST for the sale. I am disappointed that they would take advantage of people especially during a holiday that is about respecting and memorializing Americas hero's.
