Menu, chicken and rice, oxtails and rice

The food was decent. No complaints here. Lacked one star because it was quiet, no music and they had the news playing. Boring atmosphere, but it was a Wednesday night.

    Chicken and Fries

The food is not consistently fresh anymore. Therefore, the food purchase is a hit and miss. I refuse to gamble for my lunch by not knowing if it will be served fresh. The portions have gotten smaller in the past few months. I was served refried fries several times. For this reason, I returned them. The chicken is not the greatest either. Overall, the food is no longer on my list of must haves. My experience was not good, maybe yours might be.

The butter shrimp with seasoned rice was homey, filled with red bell pepper and onions.

It's a bulk store that caters to the island's restaurants and if you have a business can sign up for their business discount. But for me, it's a place to go where I can find creature comforts from home. Here you can walk in and find wagyu or Kobe beef, Chinese dumpling, and vegetable spring rolls. Texas Pete Hot Sauce or quail eggs are but a shelf away. It is like being at an international food fair but all in one store. I know my friends back on the mainland are reading this and asking themselves, "Yeah sounds like any Asian market..." But when you are living in the Easternmost territory of the United States, it really is saying something that you can find all these items under one roof. Some items can be a bit pricey and my only complaint is that you have to get here either before 5 on weekdays or before 3 pm on Saturdays because they do close early. Don't be afraid if the directions seem to be taking you off the beaten road, QF is tucked away and off the main road but once you get there you will know you found it.

I'm gluten free so I struggled a tad, but overall zero complaints. This place is great! I can't rave enough about the homemade ricotta. We ordered it with honeycomb. Worth it. Trust me. We split the arugula salad and the catch of the day for our meal. Catch of the day turned out to be swordfish. It was cooked so perfectly. The bartenders make lots of delicious treats - some of them being assorted cellos - we tried the lemon cello and the chocolate cello. So good!! Extra virgin is obviously Italian, so if you're craving handmade pastas, go here. They also make their own cheeses and charcuterie meats in house. This place does not mess around. So glad we finally go to try it!

This is a great restaurant. 3 of us had reservations for the bar, which is a huge plus, since you can order ala carte. The bar tender, Jena is a mistro and so fun to watch, I love a good bartender. For the food my wife and I shared. This was like day 6 already on holiday and I must admit I was full from all we've eaten all week long. We shared the confit duck leg, oh so good, Prince Edward Island mussels in a delicious sauce, argula salad and the Cioppino, with Caribbean lobster, gulf shrimp and mussels in a tomato broth. I would have love this over pasta and called a day. The focaccia to dip in the sauce was pretty damn good. Unfortunately, I was to stuffed for desert, I did have an oreo back at the Westin. This place is not cheap, probably the most elegant restaurant s on island. We sat at the bar, so I can't speak about the service, but it looked on point. Forgot to take pics of our dishes, but here's the bartender in action

When I came to San Juan last in 2014 I swore that I would return and get some more mofongo here…read more. and I did! I may not be here all the time (though I'd love to be), but when I come.. I need to go here. If it seems that I base some of my travel (*most of my travel) around food, well..that may be true..! Conveniently located in Viejo (Old San Juan) you can find this little kiosk at the plaza de colon, the central square in the old part of town with the statue of the guy on a tall post. Can't miss it - truly. The kiosk has a couple of quick, delicious (to go) options available .. hence the punny name. Thirsty? Get some fresh, tangy lemonade. Or better yet.. buy a fresh young coconut.. they will drill a hole in it for you and give you a straw. So good! Hungry? Well.. listen up. Get an alcapurria or two, these things are so good you'll probably want another. They are essentially fried oblong things filled with meat, cheese and surrounded by a mixture of plantain and yucca. Crispy but also soft on the outside with a savory meat filling.. quite addicting! Then, mofongo wise they have several options which is kindof neat if you want to change it up. To start you pick your base, either regular mashed plantain, sweet mashed plantain, mashed yucca, or trifongo; ra combination of all three. Then, you pick your topping.. I recommend the beef paired with regular green plantain. The veggie is quite good as well, it has several different kinds of marinated beans in the mix.

A picture is worth a thousand words and i gotta tell you - this place is worth checking out.read more

My husband and I discovered it as we were driving on route 38 and Ivy waved at us from her restaurant window. Less than a mile from Lindquist Beach and right off the exit of point pleasant resort this place features the tastiest local fare, all cooked by Ivy in her quaint kitchen. We had a platter of mutton(goat) stew with rice and beans and veggies and a platter of chicken stew. Along with two beers the total cost for a very hearty meal was merely thirty five bucks (cash only). It was authentic Creole food and very flavorful (not too spicy either!)The owner and his accountant stopped by to make sure we were comfortable. They also feature some local drinks like passion fruit juice and a refreshing ginger drink. Ivy then showed us around the bar area and also offered beef stuffed rotis (similar to pita bread) "on the house". However, as we don't eat beef, she provided us with strawberry and chocolate chip ice cream "on the house". This meal with warm and friendly people will be one of our highlights of the trip! Make sure you check it out on your visit to St Thomas, USVI.
