The parks in the Cape Elizabeth area are all amazing and the Two Lights State Park is no exception. This particular park is a bit deceiving in that the name two lights might make you think you are going to see 2 lights, there is only one on the mainland, and the other is 17 miles out to sea. But who really cares when the park gives you the amazing views that it does! The trails wind on the upper cliffs of the shoreline and provide an awesome view of Casco Bay and the ocean. Along the walking trails are benches and picnic tables where you can take pause and be at one with the ocean. The views of the crashing waves and the rocky shoreline are amazing! read more

Cost $14 for two people out of state. Beautiful views and nice benches to sit on. We went in September and it was not too crowded. More peaceful and quaint than the lighthouse parks. You can NOT see the lighthouses from here!!! read more

Rocks are rocks are rocks. There are plenty of free access parks and state areas with the same views. $7.00 per person is outrageous. There isn't a light house and there isn't anything spectacular that you can't see a mile down the road for free. read more

This was our first stop in Portland, and we were hoping to see light houses with the name "two lights" but were disappointed when there were no light houses. With that being said, the park was really beautiful and you get really dramatic views of the cliffs along the water. Don't come here if you are looking for light houses, but more of views of the ocean. read more

Off season there is no payment for this state park. You cannot actually see any lighthouse from this park---which I think the entrance sign states. Drive up the road 1 min for lighthouse view. Really peaceful place meant for quiet, reflection, enjoyment and the appreciation of nature. read more

We did not see two lighthouses and the one we did, Portland Head Light, was in the distance, but that did not diminish our visit in the least. We walked along the seaside paths above the rocky headlands while avoiding the steep stone steps (we are seniors) that probably would lead to even better views. A beautiful view of the Maine coast that I personally had not seen until today--the rock formations on Cape Elizabeth here are amazing. Lots of tide pools to potentially explore, and yes, it's quite possible to spend hours just gazing out into the ocean, waves crashing on the rocks. You can meander down or stay on one of a number of benches/picnic tables throughout the area. I had a wonderful time. read more

I had never been to Two Lights State Park! I don't know why or how I missed it - it's nearby other landmark/noteworthy areas that I've visited countless times. We had no idea what to expect when we came, but it immediately has become one of my favorite visual spots on the coast. It's quintessential Maine, isn't it? A dramatic, rocky coastline that abruptly ends as it meets the intense Atlantic ocean crashing into it. Yes, there's a groomed path you can walk along to take in the vast blue space ahead and around you, little cleared out areas among the trees that you can picnic at, a hill you can walk up to learn more about the bunkers within it and the history of the area, but mostly you're coming here to live on the edge. Literally. It's traversing dangerously jagged and uneven terrain to be as close to the depths of the sea as you can be without being swept away by it. We sat for ages taking in the 180°+ view of the open ocean because it was just *that* entrancing. Admittedly: I feel like I'll need to update this review when it's summer, because we came at a really special time. It was the middle of winter, the day after a full moon, high tide, and there was a wind warning. This was a recipe for a view unlike anything I've ever seen off the coast of Maine. Enormous, teal colored waves crashing violently and endlessly against the rocks. It was otherworldly. I'm sure it's much different in the middle of a hot, humid August day. Regardless -- if you want to be impressed by the glory and grandeur of nature... come here. read more

Super interesting and unique state park on the Maine coast. If you're into military or geological history this is an easy win. We were on vacation nearby and stumbled on this park by taking the wrong turn in a walking trail. Saw the observation tower and said, "Well that's interesting." Checked out the former gun batteries. And scrambled on the rocky shore for an hour checking out tide pools. Looks like great cookout and picnic spot. Could be a great way to breakup a longer trip along the Maine coast. read more

Maine was a state I frequently ran to when I needed an escape from the city life in Boston, MA. I used to just pack up and drive up to Maine for a weekend to shut everything off and enjoy nature. So when we were visiting MA a few weeks ago, I jumped at the chance to drive up to Maine and meet up with some friends. They suggested this place and I'm glad they did. This state park is beautiful and very peaceful. It's relaxing without the pretentiousness and serene. The restaurant we were going to is located in this state park so I'm glad we got this amazing view while enjoying dinner at the Lobster Shack. Next time, I'll come back just to hike and take in the views a bit more. read more

State park with entrance fee of $7.00 per vehicle. Very pretty site along the Maine coast. It overlooks Casco Bay and out into the Atlantic. Locals told us that you can see whales from here, but there weren't any whole we were there. There are two lighthouses nearby, hence the name. One is still operational and the other is closed and privately owned and was turned into a residence. There are old battlements here where cannon used to protect the waterway. Two Lights State Park is my absolute favorite place to go when I need to get away from the world. It's calm and quiet and right on the ocean. They will let you host events here, weddings, company picnics etc. for a small fee and I've been to one or two. The best part is you feel like a Hobbit walking through the paths under the tree branches and the winding paths right up to an ocean cliff then back into the woods. Great place to picnic and relax and think for awhile. Do yourself a favorite and stop here with an Italian and your favorite book to get away for awhile. read more

This park has plenty of trails along the rocky coast to enjoy a quick cardio workout or you can reflect by sitting on one of the many benches! I personally find our special place and sit in the rocky outcrop. So nice! There are bathroom facilities in the warm months, but in the winter you will need to go before you arrive! I initially thought Two Lights State Park is where the lighthouses are. I could not see either lighthouse from the park. Nevertheless, it is a fun park to wander around for an hour. It is fun to walk on the cliffs as you feel the cool and soothing sea breeze grace your skin. Of course, do not get too close to the waves of the oceans. They are very strong and it is dangerous if they drag you in. Moreover, it is easy to slip on wet cliffs so watch your step or just stay on the parts of the cliffs that are dry and away from the water. If you are looking for the lighthouses, there is a lookout point at the end of Two Lights Road. However, there is limited parking so you may have to wait for a spot. You will see Cape Elizabeth Lighthouse towards the north and Two Lights Lighthouse West Tower to the west behind it. The Lobster Shack at Two Lights (225 Two Lights Rd, Cape Elizabeth, ME 04107) is right next to the lookout point and a popular lobster roll spot. You can drive closer to the lighthouses if you drive on to 2 Lights Terrace. The road runs right up to Cape Elizabeth Lighthouse. The West Tower is on Beacon Lane. Nevertheless, the roads are private so be respectful of the homeowners and be quick if you decide to drive up closer to the towers. This park is small but very cute. The main attraction is the coast. Check the weather for rough waters, it makes for a beautiful scene. There are a lot of picnic tables and tons of benches to rest and relax on. The hiking trails probably total about 1 mile but they are all shaded and easy treks. Note that the lighthouses aren't in the park and you can't even really see them unless you went further north. Go to the lobster shack for the lighthouses (which are private) read more

I visited this place a few years ago and the following year my sister tagged along. This place is amazing to see the remaining one lighthouse. Go left past the park to get a view of the lighthouse. Afterwards head back, make an almost jack-knife turn into the state park. There are some nice trails that goes to the top for a view of the rocky shore. There is a playground as well for kids. We took an Uber to this state park. Free admission since we didn't park a car. Great bathroom facilities a mixture of hills ,forest ,beaches ,rocks and Lighthouse views. Super friendly staff guided us. Could exit the park into a nearby neighborhood to get closer to lighthouses. Met a lady named Mary that had an art studio from her deceased husband. A few years ago my mother and I went up to stay in Old Orchard and we decided to check out Two Lights at sunset for the first time. We used to only go during the daytime. If it wasn't for all the mosquitos eating us alive we would have stayed longer. I was able to get a few beautiful sunset pictures which I have added. This is a magical place. There are tunnel-like archways or trees and bushes, little hidden nooks with picnic tables for a secluded picnic, and an abundance of beautiful outlooks onto the rocky shoreline. The paths branch and split, so you can vary your route on repeat visits, with spots to grill peppered throughout. The playground, situated adjacent to the parking lot, is large and well-maintained. My toddler daughter loves romping around it. A truly beautiful place for all sorts of occasions and purposes. read more

Spectacular views and vistas. Two Lights didn't disappoint. In fact, I'd recommend visiting this State Park to anyone visiting the area. There are miles of trails and tons of places to sit on benches and just look at the waves and hear the water crashing up on the rocks below. Driving through Maine, we decided to find a park where we could see the ocean. We drove to Two Lights and were asked by the ranger if we were there for light houses? We weren't, so I don't know the reasoning behind the question. The cost is slightly higher for non-residents, it cost $9 for the two of us to get in. This is a smaller park but has excellent paths, places to picnic, and gorgeous views. I could definitely have spent more than an hour or two relaxing there. read more

What a beautiful little park! I'm so surprised that after being from Maine, I've never been to Two Lights until yesterday. It's small but easy to maneuver. Note to tourists: THERE IS NO LIGHTHOUSE AT THIS PARK. It's between two light houses, hence the name, but no light house lives here.. see Bug Light or Portland Head Light for that. Otherwise, there are some really cool rocks here and a great view. If you want to enjoy Maine a little off the beaten path (i.e. Isn't swarming with tourists like Portland Head Light) head here! I'll definitely be back in the next couple of months once it gets warmer out! read more
