This is abundantly apparent with most kids in his white belt classes. My apprehension of him taking classes have now subsided because of his wonderful instructors. I realized it really doesn't matter who is in class with him. It all comes down to who is teaching him. The Vasquez family has made all the difference in my son's taekwondo journey. The husband and wife team of Master Vasquez and his wife are the ying and yang of teachers. Master Vasquez focuses on respect and technique of the martial arts. He repeatedly reminds students to coordinate and harmonize his or her own mind and body. Mrs. Vasquez (who is also called Master Vasquez) is patient and kind to all her students. I have witnessed on several occasions her showing kindness and empathy to struggling learners. She is defiantly a teacher that has the virtue of great patience. Their son, Julian, has probably made the biggest impact on my son's learning of the martial art. I think he's really just made a connection with his instructor which is what all parents hope for their child. I'm excited to see what's in store for my son as he continues down his taekwondo journey. What I do know is that he is in good hands.

Despite attending training for a considerable period, there has been little to no aggressive or…read moreprogressive coaching. As a result, the students still appear to be at the same skill level as they were on Day 1, with minimal improvement or development. I would appreciate a more structured and engaging training approach that helps students build their skills and confidence over time. Most of the time, the mentors do not appear to be actively supervising the children. They are often walking around without paying sufficient attention to the kids' behavior or correcting their mistakes. This lack of active engagement is disappointing and leaves me feeling unhappy with the overall supervision.

She works well with Master Kim rounding out the entire experience for the class. You're not a number here. You're a team member! Adding to this review: we are almost 1 year into this experience and again couldn't be happier and looks like we will be renewing the membership. We'll keep you updated. We signed up for what we were told was a simple 3-month trial program. At the end of the trial, Miss Henley rushed my husband as he was leaving class and pushed him to sign a "renewal" agreement without ever disclosing it was a legally binding 1-year contract.Due to a family relocation, a newborn baby, and sharing one vehicle, it became impossible for our child to attend. When we physically went to the facility to request a cancellation, the staff clearly ignored us being present, rudely claiming they were "too busy in class" to speak with us. When they finally addressed us, they brushed us off entirely and claimed that their third-party billing platform, ZenPlanner, was their official cancellation partner and that we had to handle it through them. All of a sudden, the story completely changed. She informed us that they are no longer with ZenPlanner, and suddenly she magically had the power to cancel it himself--but only if we paid the remaining contract balance in full! To make matters even more dishonest, they keep shifting their own rules to convenience themselves: their earlier emails explicitly stated that a relocation distance of over 20 miles qualified for cancellation, but they arbitrarily changed that requirement to 25 miles just to reject our request and trap us.Despite our child not stepping foot in the facility for nearly 6 months, they relentlessly auto-deducted tuition and forced us to pay out a massive fee for the rest of the year just to be released. They show zero empathy for local families, ignore you when you stand in front of them, and constantly change their policies to force you into a financial chokehold. Do not trust their "trial" offers or their word!

A black belt means learning responsibility, dedication, respect, discipline and so much more. It has also helped me to stay physically fit and mentally focused. Taekwondo has also helped me with balance, coordination, and flexibility. I am in better shape and feel stronger due to taking Taekwondo. We do a lot of exercises, and that has helped me to stay healthy and strong. I am happy that I know how to defend myself. It has also provided me with social benefits and community. I have made a lot of new friends that i look forward to seeing every week. . I have put a lot of time and effort into training for my black belt test. I have trained several times a week for many years now. I've attended three different schools and learned a lot from all of them. I began Taekwondo when I was 7 years old. I attended a school in McAllen Texas called Bob Davies Taekwondo for about 3 years. At this school, I had a Blue belt with a black stripe. Then, I moved to Allen Texas, and joined Master Atkins Taekwondo school. At this school, I earned a Brown belt. That school closed down due to Covid-19 and never opened again. After that, I started attending the U.S. Taekwondo Academy. I have been at this school for about 4 years, and I will take a test for my black belt. During this time I have mastered different techniques. This shows all the dedication, and hard work I've put into training for my black belt. My school offers sparing, and disarms, twice a week. Disarms means to take away an object from your opponent or the person who is trying to harm you. Taekwondo has been in my life for 8 years and I am glad that I am finally going to test for my black belt.

It's not just a belt to me - it is a symbol of all the hard work, and determination I've put in over the years. When I first started, I didn't know much about martial arts. I had a lot of admiration for the higher belts and the black belt students who I saw during belt promotions. But as I continued training, I realized it's about way more than just impressive moves. At USTA, they teach us to be strong not only on the outside, but on the inside too. I had to learn discipline, respect, and how to stay focused even when things get hard. There were times I wanted to give up, especially when I couldn't get a kick right. But my instructors, classmates, and family always encouraged me, and I kept going. The process of qualifying for my black belt has been super intense. I had to demonstrate excellence in everything I learned--forms, sparring, board breaking, and self-defense. I was anxious, but I am also ready. When I finally tie that black belt around my waist, I think it will feel like I can accomplish anything. As part of my practice, I help younger students and try to set a good example for them. USTA has taught me that being a black belt can be the beginning of a bigger journey. I'm excited to keep learning and growing. I know there will be more challenges ahead, but now I believe in myself. That's what earning a black belt at USTA means to me."

I've also witnessed an increase of self confidence, assertion, focus and ability to follow instruction, not only in my daughter, but from every single kid in our belt level classes. Some progress faster than others, but definitive progress is obvious none-the-less. The ability of these instructors to instill those actions in kids is beyond what I've seen in other youth programs. Now, on to cost as referred to by some other reviewers. Yes, it's expensive. However, you get to go to an unlimited number of classes so you get out of it what you put in. If you go once a week, you'll get once a week value. If you go more, then you'll get more for your investment and see a faster development of skill. Every business can improve, and Tiger Rock is not immune to benefit from a tweak here or there. For example, they really need to pro-rate months like December when they're closed for two weeks. And I witnessed one communication snafu. But overall, we find a lot of value and growth in this program and plan to continue for a long time. Certainly deserving of the 5 stars.

They offer classes all week long, and for a very low monthly tuition, you can attend as many as you like. My son is very excited to come home after class and show me the things he has learned.
