It's a charming and retro ice cream stand, so we couldn't resist a sweet treat after our seafood lunch. This spot is right on the water and they have a pretty decent amount of picnic tables and seating to choose from. I am a sucker for soft serve so went with a twist in a cup. Super tasty! They do have plenty of more elaborate options as well like sundaes with all the toppings or more intricate flavors than chocolate and vanilla. But sometimes the classic is the way to go. Small stand right next to the water serving both soft and hard ice cream from Windsor SB Dairy in Rhode Island. Their is not a ton of flavors, but they have a bunch of creative flavors. They also share the same wonderful picnic bench seating that overlooks the water. Dinner and dessert. They made a fantastic waffle bowl salted caramel sundae (see picture) that managed to taste even better than it looked! Another thing to note was the generosity of the employee. The mocha frappe seemed like it had fresh whipped cream, and you can definitely taste the presence of the mocha. "dont do this" "dont do that" etc etc. "no sitting for non patrons" etc etc. it was dismiss-able until we ordered and then it all made sense. the older gentleman is brutal. we asked if they has peanut butter sauce and they did! YAY! we asked to try a little to see if it was good. the girl's face went blank and she sort of stammers... "uhh..." as she turns to the older guy (known as OG henceforth) she says to him that we want to try the PB sauce. She says it as a whisper - again, very telling. and 'm watching him, he says "what?!" she says it again and he bends down to look down out the window at me!! WTAF????? so I kinda do the "yeah whats the problem bub?" shrug at him.. you think I was asking for a bucket of cash. ITS A DRIP OF PB SAUCE! he gives is, literally, and Im not kidding, one tiny drop in a plastic cup. service was quick and the workers were friendly, but this was some of the worst ice cream i've ever had. the oreo ice cream was entirely freezer burnt and tasted just horrible. it was watery, and there were ice crystals throughout the entire scoop. so not only was the taste bad, the texture was awful too. maybe this is just me being picky, but my cone tasted stale and fell apart as the ice cream melted onto it. prices are way too expensive for the amount of ice cream received, and the quality of the product. really wish i could give a better review because of the fantastic customer service. the worker who took my order was friendly and patient while i decided what i wanted, and the worker who gave me my ice cream was quick to correct my order when it came out in a cup instead of a cone. read more

A scoop is definitely a little more than just a scoop so that's always a plus when I get more ice cream for my buck. I tried the classic cookie dough and I have to say the ratio was a bit off. My companions stopped on a Sunday afternoon in October. The menu was very confusing about which items were available. There were no prices on the menu. Vanilla, Chocolate, and Twist soft serve ice cream were listed on the menu. The large party in front of us ordered a variety of items, including some Chocolate soft-serve cones. Our orders were taken. My companions ordered Chocolate soft-serve cones. The worker inside called the party ahead of us and told them that they had just run out of Chocolate soft-serve. They substituted Vanilla with no problem. When it was our turn, one friend really wanted chocolate. She said that a vanilla cone would be ok if they put chocolate dip on it. The worker said that that would be an extra charge, which she paid. My other companion accepted the vanilla cone. There are photos of ice cream treats and sundaes hanging above the windows. The latte in the photo has whipped cream and syrup on it. When my frozen latte was handed to me, there was no whipped cream or topping. When I asked, the answer was that those photos were taken many years ago and whipped cream would be an extra charge. I was not asked when placing the order if I wanted whipped cream at an extra charge. (DD does not charge extra for whipped cream.) This place is a tourist trap! They have no interest in making the customers happy since they don't expect repeat business. They won't be getting any business from me. read more
