We have been part of the Twisters family for over two years, and for the longest time, we loved it. My daughter is naturally shy and sensitive, but Teacher Ericka was a godsend. She made my daughter feel so welcomed and confident that gymnastics was the highlight of her Saturdays. However, our experience shifted completely when she moved up from the Little Twisters class to the Beginners class with the owner, Allan. This morning, my daughter felt overwhelmed and started to cry. Instead of showing any empathy or helping her transition, Allan ignored her and continued the class. When I approached him afterward to help my daughter feel comfortable, he was visibly exasperated and shouted, "I am teaching a class here and don't have time for this." As a parent, it is incredibly disappointing to see an owner treat a young child (and a long-term customer) with such a lack of patience. We signed up for the weekly summer camp this year and loved it! You can sign up week by week and can even pick certain days out of the week to attend. We loved the flexibility of this camp (we chose morning half day). This gym is clean and so fun for kids of all ages. My daughter loved the coaches and enjoyed her summer here! Absolutely loved this place! The instructor was very patient with the students (maybe too patient lol). Our instructor pushed my daughter to be the best and provided techniques she can practice at home. I understand it goes by age , but my daughter worked better with the older students the one time she got to practice with them due to her instructor being out. Parking is limited in the front but there's plenty on the sides. The times available worked with our schedule. We had a great experience working with them. However, we had a very negative experience with the new office director, Misty, and the owner. Our daughter has been part of the Tiny Twisters program for 1.5 years. This class includes kids as little as 15 months or as old as 4 years, and requires parents' participation. I am sharing our experience here for parents seeking continuous skill improvement for their little ones. Our daughter has consistently been a high performer, and the coaches who taught her always asked her to demonstrate various postures to her classmates due to her mastery of those skills. After receiving a high score in her Apr-23 exam, Coach Joanna suggested I should consider moving her to the next level once she reaches the age of 3, since my daughter already mastered all skills required at her current level. Following Joanna's departure, I spoke with Director Misty to inquire about the criteria for moving kids up and sought advice to help transition my daughter to the next level. Misty clarified that levels are skill-based (not age-based) and suggested reducing my participation and support during class. Since then, I have informed her coaches that I would maintain low participation in class, and my daughter, who has no issues following instructions, receives little to no support from me. She also attended courses independently (with no parent participation) at other schools. In her Oct-23 exam, her coaches immediately informed me after class that my daughter passed all skill tests and was ready to move up. They assured me that Misty would contact me in a few days to confirm the leveling up. I even confirmed with 1 of the coaches again that my daughter got moved up, and I discussed with the coach about new class selections. After waiting for almost a week without any updates from Misty, I reached out to Misty via email. To my surprise, Misty stated that my daughter couldn't move up, citing as "It is a big jump for some kiddos to go from lots of support to total independence". This was surprising Misty had never coached my daughter and had no knowledge of her performance, plus my participation has always been zero to low during class. After expressing my concerns via email, I received no response from Misty until my daughter's next class. During that class, I raised the issue with the owner, who suggested having my daughter try the next level's class on the spot. The new coach confirmed that my daughter performed well and was ready for the next level. The owner promptly updated my daughter's level to the next level of class in the system. Additionally, during that class, my daughter's former coaches revealed that Misty had been the one preventing her from moving up, asserting that Misty thought her age of 3.5 was the issue as she had not yet reached the age of 3.75. Surprisingly again, Misty emailed me after a few days, stating that she needed more observations of my daughter and wanted to assess her personally. Without any communication, she unilaterally moved my daughter from the upper-level class to the lower level in the system, which we found unprofessional. Frustrated with all these back-and-forths, I emailed back to Misty and the owner, presenting the facts and evidence and urging them to cross-validate with the 3 coaches. Unfortunately, the owner perceived me as a troublemaker and said "he was doing me a favor". He refused to acknowledge any miscommunication from Misty and wrote to me " "you've consistently pushed to disregard our professional assessment and the coaches have disregarded it to appease you. We haven't heard an apology from you." In light of this, we decided to end the conversation and requested a refund. Over the past few days, my husband and I brought our daughter to 2 new gymnastic schools for evaluation, and our daughter was admitted into much more advanced classes compared to Tiny Twisters' program. read more

I can't speak of how normal gymnastics class is here, but we booked for a party for my son. Place is well maintained and clean. Coach Misty was their instructor and they all had a great time on the open floor. During the party, there was also a jumpy house set up. Our group had kids all ages and that worked out just fine. I had 2 daughters go through the JO programs at various different gyms. I personally feel that gymnastics still has a long way to go in improving the reputation and culture of the sport. Countless times I have seen my daughters come home from their practices tired, discouraged, and disheartened by remarks made by highly critical coaches who tear down instead of encouraging and are quick to communicate the lack of faith they have in the child's abilities. Tears were a regular occurrence at other gyms but let's be real, most girls doing gymnastics hope to be like their Olympic role models, but an incredibly small percentage of gymnasts will ever reach elite levels. So why not encourage the CHILDREN who are already dedicating 25+ hours a week to the sport and to their coaches? With that being said, my daughter received nothing but encouragement at Twisters. Ericka and Allan helped her achieve goals other coaches never believed she could. And she excelled at them. She didn't just learn new skills, she mastered them. And they were executed beautifully! The crying stopped, she stopped doubting her abilities and started attempting new skill that she never thought she'd be able to even try. Ericka and Allan, embraced my daughter and lifted her up. This is something we need more of in the gymnastics world. I highly recommend Twisters for anyone who wants their child to experience coaches who have faith in their gymnast's potential. Coaches who understand that if you're in the sport of gymnastics it is because you have a deep love for it. They have the ability to guide gymnastics of all abilities. My experience and--most importantly--my daughters experience was a great one. Unfortunately, this is how this business is currently being run. I feel lucky that we left that gym, as it was the right decision. When an issue arose, Coach Misty targeted the parent and student rather than finding and solving the problem. During my time at the gym, I felt that Coach Misty didn't respect parents or students and didn't care about the kids. Her poor attitude and communication skills had a negative impact on the kids' confidence and motivation. WORST experience ever! Enrolled several classes for my son for several months, and he liked it when the classes were coached by teacher Jonathan. However, after teacher Jonathan left, my son refused to attend the class every time we brought him there. We tried several times but failed to persuade him to attend, which caused 6 times missing classes, so we finally had to drop the class. However, after logging into our account, we found no icon for dropping the class immediately. After contacting the customer service, we were told 30 days notice needed to drop a class(which I never heard about before, and guess might be a new policy). We have paid $150+ for the 6 missing classes, which we have already accepted without any argument. And we have made effort and tried to persuade our son to take the class, but failed due to the teaching style not liked by our kid, so who can force a 5 years old boy to do things they don't want at this moment? Do you Twisters Gymnastics mean that we have to 1)Keep paying 4 more classes for 1 month without attending class in addition to the 6 missing classes we have paid, or 2)force our kid to take the class? Are those the options you twisters gymnastics suggested? Making money is important for a business but should be reasonable. Don't keep changing your policies without noticing your customers, and then made those imparity clauses to kidnap your clients. Now I know why all my sons' classmates that attended classes there all left! I never had billing issues with after-school programs in Silicon Valley, but this place surprised me. I ended up paying more than 2 classes to get just 1 class. Basically, they overcharge monthly enrolled students and had unnecessarily strict rules for makeup classes. The communication was lack of transparency. Such a fun place! We came here for a trial and really enjoyed the class with Jonathan. My daughter enjoyed all of the silly things he said and I appreciated the quality of instruction he gave. She came home exhausted! The price is a little bit higher than what we would want, but we really enjoyed the class. We have been coming to Twisters Gym over the past year and we have loved the experience. Our daughter looks forward to the weekly classes and has a blast each time she goes here. She has worked with several coaches like April, Paige and Joanna and each of them do a fantastic job in keeping the kids engaged (its hard to keep a bunch of 4 year olds focused on the exercises). Some of the exercises are quite challenging and its a very good foundation for young kids if they choose to go into competitive gymnastics later on. The facility is also very spacious and kept very clean with enough space for parents to sit and watch the kids. All of their staff wears masks and temperature checks are done each class for kids. I'd also like to call out how accommodating and flexible the owner was with us recently. Due to Omicron in Jan-Feb 2022 and the fact that we moved far away from Santa Clara, we did not attend 15 classes. We had decided to drop our daughter's enrollment and were concerned on how to make up for the lost classes. To our delight, the owner agreed to refund us the entire amount for the 15 classes!. For a kid's activity center to be so understanding and accommodating is extremely rare in the Bay Area. Thank you Twisters for such exceptional customer support. I started at twisters in the recreational program and absolutely loved it. The coaches really cared about us and made sure that we were learning the gymnastics that was up to our level. I eventually switched over to the competitive program and fell in love with the xcel program. My daughter has been at Twisters for seven years. She LOVES gymnastics and even more she loves the coaches and the friendships she has made at Twisters. As a parent, my biggest concern has been injury. I give full credit to her coaches for their skill and methodology, that she has stayed healthy for all these years. Allan's philosophy is wholistic, teaching life skills, love of fitness, teamwork, discipline, hard work, etc. without overtraining the athletes. Since the gym switched to "Xcel only" my daughter trains half the amount of hours per week, but she is more focused during the short practices, continues to make steady progress on learning new skills, and is more balanced in her life (more time for schoolwork and friends). My daughter is in tenth grade now and the skills she has learned at the gym make her a better student, and more adept at handling her mindset with life's challenges outside the gym. She also carries herself with confidence; she knows she is strong and fit and she is proud of herself. I have always harbored reservations about gymnastics. I had misconceptions about the culture, the injuries, body image issues, and I didn't consider it a team sport. Seeing my daughter truly thrive in gymnastics, on all levels, and witnessing so many girls thrive through their experience at Twisters, after many years, has brought me to a full conversion. I now believe every child would benefit from gymnastics. I think the people you bring into your child's life are more important than any circumstance, and Twisters hires fantastic coaches across the board. For the last 1 year, my daughter who is now 5.5 years has been a part of the preschool gymnastics group program at Twisters. Initially we went through a lot of adjustments in terms of the coaching, engagement by the teachers, and having a consistent program. Since coach Misty Blair has joined the gymnasium, the program has been the most rewarding experience. She is very passionate about the overall development and commitment towards the sport. She works with the student to develop not just fitness but also the correct attitude. My daughter has learned discipline, correct form, has become more courageous and built confidence. As a parent, I feel these skills are fundamental to the growth of who she becomes. Since coach Misty has joined, I have seen proactive, clear, and precise communication from the office. Attended my first party here at Twisters and I must say that this venue is a hidden gem for those seeking an inexpensive way to host their child's next birthday party. My children are between 2-7yrs of age, and each were equally entertained; making use of every apparatus and open floorspace within the vicinity. The Twister instructor did an excellent job keeping the little ones active during relay games and moving them along seamlessly throughout the three large rooms/stations. I docked a star because I feel the timeline of events could have been better organized to incorporate house rules, water breaks, food/cake time, then free play. There really wasn't a schedule in place for us to follow, our entire group sort of straggled along and eyeballed what the next person was doing. Additionally, the onsite staff members were all very nice and greeted us at the door with a smile but throughout the event, no one bothered to check up on the group or offer further assistance. We LOVE this gym and are incredibly blessed to have found them. From the second we walked in the door we felt welcomed. We joined for our oldest daughter who is coached by Ms. Joanna and she is WONDERFUL. We cannot say enough about her. She is encouraging while holding her accountable. Our daughter thrives off of the structure provided at this gym. Our youngest daughter, who NEVER wants to participate in anything wanted to join after watching her sister and meeting so many friendly faces. She joined a couple months ago with Ms. Misty's class and ADORES her. My little girl never wanted to leave her momma's side and jumped right in with her and never looked back. We love Misty and her coaching style. She has expectations and holds them accountable and we think that is crucial for building up strong athletes. I was not looking for a playground. I was looking for instruction. Both of my girls are getting that and have grown in their skills by tremendous amounts. Our favorite part is the relationship that every staff member has there with the kids they coach. Coach Alan is one that makes our kids feel important and seen. Their achievements are noticed. Took my son here for his first gymnastics class today and he and I absolutely loved it! Wish we'd have started sooner! The instructor, Trevor, was great. So attuned to the kids levels, using fun analogies (crawl like a bear, etc) to get the kids to do the activities. He had each be the "helper" to demo parts of the routines they were going to do so all the kids felt included and important. The gym itself was also great! The area for the smaller kids is so fun and colorful. There were strips on the ground in different colors or with different animals to give the kids cues of where they should sit or run toward. I took taekwondo lessons here from 2005 - 2015, mostly under the instruction of Jerico. The facilities here are great and the taekwondo program was definitely a formative part of my childhood. Everyone involved with the taekwondo classes was super passionate and invested in the students, and I'm grateful for my amazing experience at Twisters. The curriculum and instructors will definitely challenge you physically and mentally, but these are the experiences that will push you to become better in areas beyond just martial arts. I've made so many memories and friends through Twisters TKD and am really glad to see that it still is thriving today! read more

My 3 years old was having her very first class with other preschoolers. She and another boy had some difficulties following teacher's instructions and the teacher soon got very uncomfortable with that suggesting that we and the other mom switch to another class with parents supervision. The teacher seemingly preferred us to leave so we did (totally understandable). So basically we spent $35 just to try 10 min and then leave. It was somewhat disappointing that I was not offered a free replacement class with another group/teacher nor I got a refund for the class which in fact had not been taken. The customer support could of been more friendly too. Overall, not a good experience for us. read more

Twisters is an awesome gym for competitive gymnastics if your child is in pre-team or level 2 (training for level 3 as of December 2023), or even if you have toddlers who like to bounce around (you never know!). They also have a really great Xcel program as well (taught by Ericka herself). The gym is run by renowned gymnastics coaches Allan and Ericka who both used to be optional coaches for a super competitive gym (so they are *very* well known in the industry), and they've also been training their own daughter who is in level 10 with many awards under her belt and is already fielding amazing offers from colleges even though she just started high school. Allan specializes in bars/vault and Ericka specializes in floor/beam. We had the chance to do many privates with Allan and he is ah-ma-zingly good. He has an uncanny eye for detail and can immediately spot what's wrong, and is super resourceful with using the gym equipment in different shapes/configurations to help you fix your problem. My daughter also had the opportunity to do a private with Ericka once and we were also both blown away by that experience. Their level 2 (led by Coach Misty) competed this fall season and placed medals at all their meets if I'm not mistaken. They definitely got first place team at least twice if not more times. (**Edit: my daughter said they got 1st place 4 times and only placed 2nd once -- but yea either way they're probably the best in the bay lol.) I'm so very proud of them! Misty herself has a solid gymnastic background and also a lot of dance experience (she was with the SF ballet if I'm not mistaken) which is crucial for gymnastics. She cares about the girls so much (both how well they do and their well-being) and got my daughter a shirt and cute teddybear after one of the meets. She even came to my daughter's birthday party and partied with all the girls! The only reason this gym doesn't have many gymnasts in the higher compulsory levels *yet* is because they completely shut down during covid so are just now starting back up. So I think now is the perfect time to get in while it still has that very private/family feel to it, backed by A class coaches. read more

My daughter has taken the Tae Kwon Do class here with Jericho for about a year and enjoyed achieving her new belts every few months :) Jericho is a great coach - patient, dedicated to the kids, and good with discipline. I really wish there was a way for parents to observe the class - I spent a lot of time peeking through the window (which is how I know it's a good class), but would be great if they had it set up like their gymnastics classes, which parents can observe from bleachers set up in the hall next to the classes. We've also attended several birthday parties at Twisters, which were fun too! And now my daughter is thrilled about transferring to their gymnastics class, because her two best friends have joined and Norma helped at the front desk helped arrange things so they could all be in the same class together! read more

We got clear communications from the staff in advance so we knew what to expect, there was a big area for setting up food and waiting for everyone to arrive, and the best part, the kids all loved the gymnastics play. We had a birthday party at twisters yesterday. Very disappointed we was Not told we would have to share the room with private lesson. When some of the children wanted to go on the trampoline, a big kid was on it, that didn't belong to our party , private lesson. When I spoke to the party host she said your kids are not using it. And if they did he would get off, when you pay for a party you shouldn't have to share with a private lesson. I asked her for the phone number of the manager she told me , she was the party host. I then asked who owns it, she told me to look on the door for the email address . wow!!! I had to ask her to write it down.
