We happen to find this place on pure luck, since we were having lunch right next door. JW and Alex greeted us immediately. The guys's vibes were so chill and friendly. I told Alex what things I liked and that I wanted a tattoo that represented New Orleans to me. He said I got you! And after 15 min he was showing me one of the most perfect tattoo design for me! This is my favorite piece so far. Thank you guys. Also Alex has a very light touch and wasn't too painful (just a bit on the shading, but to be expected)

My original review because they were kind and accommodating: Tat Starz is professional and clean!…read moreThey were ready for us and super helpful and nice even though we walked in an hour before closing!!! Got my best friend his first piercings! I also got my lip pierced, my 9th and 10th piercing, and this is the best place I've got one so far!! However, the lip piercing jewelry they used was too small. I couldn't clean them properly. My skin was trying to heal over them, and they were massively swollen. I had to have them professionally removed and have yucky scars. Hopefully, they have improved. I would like to think that it was a matter of rushing due to us coming in so late. It still really sucked for me though. All things equal, just be careful, well-researched, and less impulsive with your piercing purchases!

Welp, found a favorite tattoo parlor for when I'm in New Orleans!…read more It was Sunday midday, and Salon De Tatouage accommodated my group of 5 walk-ins without any qualms. The shop is clean; the staff are friendly and were immediately helpful. They have plenty of flash options to peruse, but we all had specific, little weirdo concepts we wanted. Nothing was too much of a hassle. Have to applaud the efficiency while pairing us with the best artist for our ideas. Custom sketches were done cleanly and in a timely fashion across the board, and we rocked through with 4 different artists, each suited to the specific tattoo. In fact, my friend's tattoo--very personal, tied to a specific movie--was done by an artist who came in an hour early for her shift because it was right in her wheelhouse and she beamed with excitement upon hearing what she'd be tattooing. And, unsurprisingly, it came out beautifully. (Don't ask about the kangaroo sommelier, it actually has a meaning haha. Wanted something more cartoonish, and this delivered.) Truthfully, A+ experience for picking a random tattoo shop while on vacation that was open and willing to take us. Felt welcome and taken care of, and got a solid bang for the buck considering the whole experience. Would return in a heartbeat!

After striking out with some friends' recommendations, I saw Swamp Water Studio in a cute shotgun house as I was pulling out of Marshall's parking lot one evening. I checked out her Instagram account and stopped by. I showed her two pieces of artwork, heard her ideas, and made an appointment. Not only did Brandi do a beautiful rendering of the picture I brought in, but she's a great conversationalist, which made the hour or so sitting fly by. My tattoo healed perfectly without much of that ugly scabby phase at all. She gives you detailed instructions on taking care of it, and guarantees her work forever.
