As exciting as wedding dress shopping can be- it can definitely be daunting as well! Thankfully the girls at Twirl have created such a warm atmosphere that is welcoming and makes choosing a dress fun! Like most dress shops, Twirl requires that you schedule an appointment, in order for you to have the full attention and help from one of the bridal consultants. Emily helped me, and she was great! I didn't really have any specifics in mind, and she helped me narrow it down to the style that I liked, and eventually we found the perfect dress! My mom and sister were able to join me as well, which made the experience 100x better. The shop is on Clay Avenue and has a very strong "pink & girly" vibe which I felt right at home in. Twirl writes the names of girls who have dress appointments on a "Welcome" sign on their front porch- a nice touch. Twirl also has a great instagram account which is how I found out that they've recently started a podcast as well- catered mostly towards a bridal audience. Okay, so I didn't buy a dress here. And I didn't even come in for a fitting. But I did stop in and look around. So here goes my review. The gals here are super sweet. They were totally no-pressure and were glad to have me just look around. We chatted a bit about wedding girly stuff and the la di da about bridal bliss. One of the associates took me upstairs and I fell in love with the adorable and intimate bridal fitting space. Swoooooooon!! Ladies, this is where you want to go with your gals! The prices are high. But here's the happy surprise. My associate gave me the best advice about wedding dress shopping. I don't think I've ever had such an honest, candid associate truly set me straight. Way to go! She told me how to go about it the smart way, what to watch out for as I look all around for the perfect gown, etc. No scam; just honesty. Never should a bride feel worse after leaving a bridal boutique, than before entering the store. And that's exactly how they made my daughter feel. I have to admit, she didn't have an appointment but they made it a point to make her feel unwelcome because she did not have an appointment. They were very rude as soon as we walked through the door. Not even a "welcome in" or "what are you looking for today?" They literally looked at us like we had five heads. Even if there was an appointment shortly after they easily could've explained. I doubt that was the issue though, considering there was more than one associate, there weren't any customers in sight. And if they had asked or given a mere welcome, they would've learned that she only wanted to look at the veils. That veil process literally took five minutes, when she found "the one" elsewhere. Even her dress process was quick and simple. She chose the very first dress and the first veil she tried on... ELSEWHERE. I'm not sure what they're aiming for as clientele, but the unwelcome response that we got, was almost like "you're not here to buy a dress so we don't want to waste our time". Without ever asking what we were looking for, if we'd like to make an appointment, or anything nice. Quick to judge is exactly how I would describe their miss. I really wish we could've supported a local bridal shop, but unfortunately I refuse to patronize any business that doesn't treat their potential customers with respect. read more

Twirl has a foothold on the market here in Lexington, long known as 'the' place to go shopping for a wedding gown, and it's certainly the prettiest and most unique space: a historic house on Clay Avenue! I've shopped for a few bridesmaid dresses here in the past, but due to the growing prevalence of online retailers, they no longer carry those (but will take measurements!). The staff is SUPER nice and they have a moderate selection of really nice dresses for most price points. Unfortunately, what I'm learning is that I'm looking for something I've NEVER seen before in any store, any Facebook wedding album, or any website - almost couture (which I may not find on my quick deadline, to be honest). So my search ended in disappointment, but not for a lack of options. I am not a small girl but I'm not that large either (I wear an 8) and they had maybe 3 gowns that would even zip on me! If you are a size two to four this store might be OK for you but anything larger you have an extremely limited choice of what you can try on! Once the sales girl realized she had nothing to show me that I had described in a size that would fit me she ran to get the manager. They kept suggesting styles I had explicitly said I was not looking for simply because they knew the dress would fit me. I found both sales girls to be rude and not knowledgeable of the dress makes or their store's inventory. It was an awful experience and I left their shop in tears! read more

They have a very limited selection and they hover over you while you look, even if its at flower girl dresses (and they only have like 2 in the store) but as long as you are an average size 6 or below and are only looking at bridal gowns you will be fine. read more

I went in to get some advice about a bridesmaid dress for a wedding that I am in. Very rude! The woman that worked there would not even get up from her chair to help me. I was concerned about the size that was ordered for me and the girl told me she could could not help me because I didn't order it from their store. I ordered it in another state and this was the only store in the area that carried the dress. The place was empty and now I see why. Considering the cold treatment I was given I certainly will not be using their services for my upcoming wedding here in Lexington! I have been a bridesmaid for two brides that used Twirl for their bridesmaids dresses. Ty and everyone that I worked with were amazing both times! One of the dresses (Jenny Yoo) had a lot of irregularities in the silk in several unflattering locations. I know that some of this is expected, but my case was a bit extreme. They went out of their way to have parts of the dress rebuilt by Jenny Yoo. I am getting married now myself and I am looking forward to working with Twirl! So why not five stars? I am putting in four stars in the hopes that this review does not get filtered! Shame on yelp for allowing 7 5-star reviews be filtered by their robots. I went to Twirl to look at bridal gowns at the recommendation of a coworker. Her daughter had gotten her dress there and had a great experience. I made an appointment, and the stylists (two of them worked with me) were absolutely great. Very patient and helpful, even took pictures of me on my phone since I had to go shopping alone. If my review stopped there, I would have given them 5 stars. However, I found more than one dress that I really liked, and wanted to add it to my "short list" that I was developing from different places. As I left, I asked for the information on the dresses that I liked so that I could check them out further- read reviews, see how much they cost, etc. The woman who helped me was ready to write down the maker/style for me, but someone else (I am going to assume the owner) stopped her, saying that "she didn't need to know those things, we will keep it for her and if she wants the dress she can call us." Well..."She" (being me) was standing right there. I thought this was incredibly rude. If there had been an explanation as to why I could not have the information (say, because they didn't want me to order from somewhere else after having spent time helping me- which would be a totally valid reason) I would have understood. If this was the case, I think we probably could have worked out a way to get me the information I wanted, but ensure that I would not go elsewhere after the efforts put forth already. The "she doesn't need to know that" statement left me feeling as though they did not want my business- I ordered a totally different dress somewhere else the next day. Went here with a friend for a dress fitting. One of the associates was extremely helpful and nice. However, there were dirty glasses from mimosas that the party before us had left behind...which totally turned me off and the other staff was rude & seemed absolutely disinterested in what the bride wanted. I came into this appointment very excited and pleased to give Twirl a try. I had heard wonderful things about the store and knew many people who found their dress at the boutique. I had heard the owners would do anything to help you and make your experience a wonderful one. However, I was really not impressed with Twirl. The customer service was lacking and actually made me chose another store that had the same dress. On multiple occasions I asked if the dress came with embellishments and my associate kept saying "well if that happens to be your top two dress then I'll check on it." How was I suppose to know if it was my top two dress, if my questions were not being answered? My bridesmaid was holding the dress on me so that I could see what it looked like, because my associate was lacking in knowledge of how to pin the clips on the dress correctly. When I asked if I could see the dress in the other color the company offered the dress in, my associate put the wrong color under the dress and told me that it was the same color the company offered. The associate did not mention that it was not the same color I could receive the dress in, until I looked at the tag and saw it was a different color from a different company. I worked at The White Dress of Lexington for two years and know what it is like to be a wedding dress sales associate. I was someone who came in knowing what I wanted, knowing the language to speak, and knew exactly what I wanted and received the worst customer service possible. This boutique is absolutely adorable and the ladies here do everything they can to make you feel at home and comfortable!! Tori was absolutely perfect in helping me look for dresses! She was super sweet and seemed genuinely interested in my wedding plans and my fiancé and all the little details that made her more like a best friend helping me look versus my consultant! With this being my first time looking it felt like it could be stressful and When I was conflicted on dresses she knew the exact questions to ask that helped me make decision on whether it was my dress or not and she would hold dresses in all the right places for me so I could see exactly what a dress in my size would look like! I am a bride from out of town, so I wanted to send my matron of honor to try on bridesmaid dresses for me that I had picked out online and i wanted to see in pictures (the dresses are only available at certain boutiques)-- She called ahead and asked if she could come in and received the RUDEST response ever. They said she was wasting the sales person's time because she was NOT the bride and that she could not come in on the weekend to try on these dresses for me. Amanda & Ty were both very friendly and highly accommodating. I only had contact through phone and email, however, I never felt like I was out of the loop on anything. So let me give a little background. I actually live in Ohio, but I am from KY and all my bridesmaids are in KY. My sister who got married in Arizona had me get my bridesmaid dress for her wedding at a twirl in Arizona and that was a great experience so I wanted to try out the twirl in KY when I got married. Since I was just visiting I made sure to make an appointment with them, which they were very helpful to work with me since I had limited time for my bridesmaids to shop. Almost everyone in my party was running late including myself and they were still so pleasant on the phone and once we arrived. Olivia was a petite blonde with the sweetest voice and personality to go along with that, she greeted me at the door when I arrived. She was so involved and helpful she was pulling dresses in my colors, showing me swatches, and even pulling up pictures on the internet. It was a wonderful start to the day and all the dresses the girls tried on were beautiful, but we weren't ready to make a final decision at the end of the appointment so Olivia made sure to put all my information in the system with each bridesmaid and what dresses they liked to make it easier when one of them came back to order. So at the end of that day my sister who had traveled from AZ to pick out a dress had decided that she needed to try a couple of the dresses at Twirl back on to make a final decision. They opened at 10am the next morning so we drove up there and even though we hadn't made another appointment they welcomed us with open arms. Olivia was there again and she even had another appointment, but she was still willing to let my sister try on a few more dresses including some she hadn't tried on the day before. She was still very helpful and gave us plenty of attention while helping her other appointment. My sister picked a dress from Twirl that day she got measured and we paid. They even shipped it to AZ so she wouldn't have to figure out how to get in from KY. I went to around five bridal boutiques for bridesmaid dress shopping and that was by far the nicest and most pleasant experience I had. All three of my bridesmaids went with a dress from Twirl in the end. I actually felt a little sad that I had already bought my wedding dress in OH because I saw a girl trying some wedding gowns on that were so beautiful. Maybe when my best friend gets married she'll get her bridesmaid dresses here or maybe when we do a vow renewal someday I will be back for another wedding gown. Wonderful wonderful experience! I cannot say enough great things about Twirl! I had the best experience here buying a dress. My consultant made things so easy and really listened to what I wanted, but gave great suggestions, too. My consultant was with me the whole time and every employee stopped to say hello or make sure I was getting what I needed while I was there. I did not feel any pressure to buy, but ended up finding both my dress and bridesmaid dresses within an hour! I purchased my wedding dress at Twirl for my May 2012 wedding, and I couldn't have been happier with the entire experience. I live in San Francisco now but was visiting family in Lexington when my stepmom suggested we check out Twirl, just for fun. First of all, I fell in love with the ambiance of the shop. It's cozy and homey and made me feel instantly at ease. Next, Ty was wonderful to work with. She listened to me and made smart suggestions, and ultimately didn't put any pressure on me to buy a dress before I was ready. I wound up not buying anything that day, but went back to San Francisco and spent about a month continuing my search. In the end, it was clear that purchasing one of the dresses I tried on with Ty at Twirl was the right move. She arranged to have the dress shipped to me in SF, and everything went off without a hitch. This boutique never returned call after call after call!!! Very disappointed they ordered wrong bridesmaid dresses and after they arrived much to late for anything to be done. Also the wrong sizes the website for the dresses said to order a size up and the ordered exact sizes. Needless to say on the Wedding Day every single girls dress ripped and had to be sewn back up. These were expensive dresses as it was for these girls to get over $300.00 each and for them all to rip was very upsetting to all of them . And the Bride felt horrible on her big day because she had picked them out!!! A Bride shouldn't have felt horrible on her big day!!! A couple of the girls were going to use Twirl Boutique for there Big Days but after the way these dresses turned out and the Horrible Service they received and NO Response from the Store they said they would never go back .
