Tonight COE hosted a "Ladies Night: Intro to Get Golf Ready". Super! Everyone, and I mean everyone was very helpful. Well, nearly everyone (pro shop kids were typical, hey, hi, yeah, what-ever, lol). COE staff presenter, serving staff for our treat & bevies in the clubhouse, the golfing ladies who signed us in (with swag bag and smiles), our two pros who taught us to putt and chip really effectively (yup, not only do I know what that means I can do them, beginner style). Last but not least the folks who made sure we could drive the carts! What a terrific time at a very pleasant venue in the river valley. Can't wait for my first lessons next week!!!

There are 27 holes in total, but if you book for an 18 hole round, they'll probably have you play the Prairies and the Meadows. However, for a quick 9-hole round early in the morning, consider booking the Woodlands - you'll get a bonus hole to play! This is, in my opinion, the best of the three 9-hole options, and a great place to work on your short game. If you like more wide open spaces, stick to the other 18 holes. Overall, this course is beautiful and suitable for golfers of all skill levels.

So our final 9 holes takes us 3 hours to finish. Second, the Marshall allowed a group of 5 golfers, yes FIVE golfers play in front of us. Thirdly, this place is in need of a serious update. No gps, loud gas burning golf carts, the clubhouse is a dump, the greens were very irregular, the course needs some serious landscaping and lastly the parking lot is brutally tight to navigate through. This place could become a gem if they soaked some cash into it. Until then, I'm not returning.

On the one side, there is the beautiful and open golf course, opened throughout the summer. The gold course is open to both military and non military folks. On the inside, there is the curling club - while sitting inside the restaurant, you can see the curling rink. The bunker lounge is a great spot to go to. It offers a variety of pub like foods, shareable appetizers, salads and soups, burgers and sandwiches. The bunker also offers daily specials Monday to Friday. A full bar is available; bottled and draft beers, drinks and pop are there for every liking. The food there is very good - great wings and salad, the beef dip and classic cheeseburger are so tasty!! The poutine is very tasty - they use cheese curds, which makes it even better. The Bunker has a capacity of 260 people, making it a great place to have gathering, parties and other events. Good music and sports (as well as other tv programs) are available for entertainment. Finally, The Bunker at the Edmonton Garrison is a great spot to visit for good foods and drinks.

My review is based on the following aspect of a golf course : tee boxes/fairways/bunkers/hazzards/greens/prices Tee Boxes - I find them VERY consistent and well maintained, I'm not teeing up in dirt or on burnt grass. they are all mostly slightly elevated and get good irrigation to there are no dips in them. they are very satisfying when it comes to their boxes being level. great work! Fairways - i can't say enough about them. well groomed and not patchy. that's all you can really ask for! Bunkers - down side, sand qualify. its nothing special, but its also not that bad. on days after the rain, its clay. Hazards - not really that much trouble you can get in to. the fairways are wide and their is only 2 holes that have water, and they are swimming pool sized. you need to go looking in order to catch these hazards. Greens - Greens are extremely consistent and well maintained. one of the nicest public course greens I've played. nothing crazy as if i were paying $150/round but well worth the money spent to play here. Price - Unbeatable! $30 on a weekday, $35 on a weekend. this course costs pennies compared to its quality. you can pick up a half season pass in July for $495 and that most definitely makes your money back quickly! one of my favourite courses! I was a member in 2010 but really did not have much golfing time in 2011 so opted out this year. maybe next year!

The views were amazing; we could see so much of the golf course and all the wilderness. The staff was sweet and accommodating of everything. Any questions my husband or I had were answered. She never pushed me to do anything I didn't want, and when my big day came, she made sure everything was to my standards.

A special shout out to Event Coordinator Brandy and General Manager Ishaan for making this evening so special. We had so many comments from our guest as to how good the food was and how great the staff were. I can't imagine that we could have had a more perfect evening anywhere! This was my first time visiting Billy D's and we only came across it because there was a wild fire…read morenearby our usual driving range. Am I ever glad we found this place!! We came at 7:50 even though it says they close at 8pm the owner was so nice and let us get a couple buckets of balls. We brought the kids to practise hitting some balls and they loved it here. The owner told us he just invested and upgraded the tee off mats and tarmac where you tee off. It looks so nice!! The greens you stand on are brand new and cushy! It's clean here and they even have flushable toilets. In the clubhouse (which is accessible with a ramp) there are some chairs and tables. It's slightly outdated inside the clubhouse but you're not really spending time in there anyways. There is a small store to buy Powerade and other things. And also a deck with some tables and chairs too. There are a few benches for sitting while you wait or watch people tee off. They also have a putting area to practise your putting on which is a nice addition. Overall this place is a great small business and was not busy at all which was really nice! We will definitely be back here all summer long. Check this place out if you're in the southside and looking for a sweet driving range. Reasonably priced as well!!

I have been to Billy D's many times before to just hit balls. The prices are reasonable. The parking lot is gravel but there's a paved lot right next to it. The facility itself has all the necessities. Every person who I have met working there seems very genuine and nice. Sometimes you need to wait a minute as they are giving tips to people who are at the range. The boxes worked well and being right handed, there were tons of them. The putting green is smaller if you're going there to practice that. In regards to our lesson, Bruce was awesome! He got to know us and worked together as well as individually. My husband's swing improved by 500% in just one lesson. I have done a decent amount of golfing but have picked up some awful habits. Bruce was able to zone into what parts of my swing were giving me trouble. I haven't hit the ball that straight... ever. We ended up booking a series of four lessons as we were so impressed. Even after our lesson was over, Bruce continued to check in on us which is pretty amazing. The range is located near the Costco on 91st. I almost didn't want to write this review as it's a little secret and never seems too busy. I changed my mind as I would love this business to flourish. If you want a casual but still professional place to go hit some balls or to have an awesome lesson, look no further!

No reviews since 2014?! Have to set that right!…read more We took a staycation day and came in the morning on a sunny September weekday 2019. This year fall hours are 9am-8pm. Yes! The course has lights! It's a beautifully treed haven is just a stone's throw away from Saskatchewan Dr and 109 St. Loaded with birds and squirrels, it's pretty tough to tell you are in the city. Edmonton's River Valley is such a wonderful gem. We played 9 holes... takes about an hour, (if you play with me be prepared - it's going to be 90 minutes) but there ARE 18 well groomed and manicured holes nestled on the slope. I found the rough to be adequate and the greens were nicely compact. Yes, there were some holes in the greens, but I attribute that to folks not knowing how to repair the damage. We fixed the worst we found. I don't golf... and I managed less than 8 strokes on every hole . Almost made par on two! Great variety of distances on the greens for every skill level. My partner well overshot one hole, but thankfully there are well crafted hops, slopes and fences to contain the mayhem. I even got a double bank off a tree that put me back on the fairway! Yeehaw! There is parking near the clubhouse, so you don't have to walk up from the Kinsmen fitness centre if you don't want to (or can't). There are bike racks and a few picnic tables at the clubhouse. The clubhouse is outfitted with solar panels and a solar water heater. Way to green!! The clubhouse also has a nice selection of snacks, freezies, pop, chips and mosquito spray. You might want to bring some but they have some to buy if you forget. There are two gender neutral washrooms, a big garage door to open up one side when the weather is nice. Green fees are reasonable considering the cost of a movie these days, and it doesn't seem like the prices have gone up in YEARS! $16 for 9 holes, $20 for 18, & club rental $3/club, putter and iron minimum. Seems fair for an afternoon out. Can't imagine maintenance is any less for a little course as a bigger one. Each hole has an artificial turf tee box, and leaning bench to put or lean your behind or clubs on so they don't get all gummy in the morning dew. Was well laid out to flow from one green to the next tee box. I do see the point George makes about there being some near proximity for tees towards other players on other holes. If it's not as busy (mornings we were told) I think that works for us. Next time I'll bring some kind of bag to keep all my stuff together. Maybe a strap to hook my clubs on the bench when they aren't being used. Didn't spot a ball washer on the course, only at the clubhouse... but maybe we missed them? They told us they usually close Sept 30th after free facilities day, but they are going to see if they can stay open until Thanksgiving-or the first couple weeks of October. I can't believe it took me 12 years to come. I think this is going to be one of our new date destinations.

I lived in Edmonton for a few decades and can't believe it took me this long to try out the Rundle…read morePark golf course! It is somewhere between a pitch and putt and a regular golf course. It is a Par 58 short course with most holes being a Par 3 and some Par 4's thrown in. The course was in great shape and it wasn't very busy in the morning when I went. I believe the first hour or two are for seniors as well. Will be going back to golf more and practise that short and medium game!
