Honestly probably the worst experience I've ever had at a golf course, as I was at the range…read morehitting a few balls before my tee time and a worker (very old) approached me saying he was an assistant pro and told me very rudely to leave the practice facility as I wasn't welcomed there. I asked him why but he told me I was stealing some practice balls, I let him know my friends are also all members there but he refused to listen. At this point I've never been talked to so passively aggressively in my life as he was telling me that I was taking away business from the golf course or as he liked to say "it messed up my revenue stream." This has been the only golf course experience where I'm honestly not sure if this is because of my race or not but it wasn't a place I'd like going to again...

There were a few greens that were just recently airated so it was bumpy and impossible to read but otherwise I was happy with the course. I like that they don't force you to use a cart like so many other bigger course in Edmonton. I prefer walking a course to get to know it and get some exercise to burn off the beers that we get on the back 9. The course backs onto a marsh so its quite quiet. The back nine is very different then the front which makes it challenging and enjoyable. I would play it again for the reasonable price of $50/round.

I recently took a series of group golf lessons at Redtail Landing with their head teaching guy,…read moreDave Lengyel, who is registered with the CPGA. I'm not much of a golfer, but I'm much more of one after just a few hours of putting and driving with Dave. I highly recommend him - not only because he is an exceptional teacher and jam-packs lessons with tips and insights that instantly change the way you look at the game and play - he has a genuine love of this game that stretches over decades. He's a pleasure to learn from and he made the lessons fast-paced, challenging and fun! I can't say much about the course, as I haven't played it, although from what I've heard it's some pro terrain that will make you work your game pretty hard. Redtail's training greens, I can say, were topnotch and we were given free water and carts for the duration of our lesson. Service: excellent. Too bad the course is by the airport - a 30-minute drive from downtown. We paid $140 each for a group of six, which included five lessons with Dave. As I'm virtually a beginner, the amount of one-on-one instruction I got was perfect. He moved around the group, gave us each pointers and kept things moving forward - without overwhelming us. I wouldn't hesitate to sign up for another round of lessons with Dave. He's a busy guy so try to book with him early in the year. In the fall he is more flexible. This 18 hole course plays and feels like more of a private course than a public one. The fairways are narrower and the course has more trees than you would see on a typical city course. The course is challenging but but overly difficult. It is great for all levels of players as well. There aren't that many sand traps and you won't find one water hazard. It would have been nice if one of the holes played closer to the river and gave you a good view of the water. I usually go to this course when I have a day off during the week. I haven't found the course overly busy during the week day but I imagine it would be pretty busy on weekends or evenings. The clubhouse is small and a bit ancient but it all adds to the feel of this course. If you are looking to golf in the within the city I would highly recommend this course over the other City courses!

Writing this review pains me sooo much. Not because I need to give them a bad review but because…read morethis golf course is a hidden gem that I would love to keep to myself! Me and and my S.O. wandered across this golf course on one of our trips out to Elk Island National Park to check out the Bison. We stopped to check out the buffalo paddocks first and then went over to check out Astotin Lake. After checking out the lake and partaking in some fun GPS scavenger hunt activity we saw a sign for the golf course that was located nearby. I did not know about this golf course so we decided to go check out the club house and find out about fees and making reservations. The clubhouse is small and quaint but has some great views of the course and the natural surroundings. To our surprise it was pretty much empty! The course didn't look busy either. I made a promise to come out one day and check out this course in person. I haven't golfed much lately and this was a good excuse for a fun golf outing. Fast forward a few months and I have a visitor coming from Calgary so I suggest we go do some golfing. I said I knew of this course out at the National Park that I thought wouldn't be busy on a Friday. We arrived at the course around 2pm after a leisurely trip out there and also exploring the buffalo paddocks and a bit of the park. I expected we might be hitting the busiest part of the day but I thought worse case scenario we have some beers and practise putting. Not a bad day off indeed. As it had it though the course was pretty much wide open. We had another group of two going out in front of us and we gave them an ample head-start as no one was teeing off behind us. In fact there were no other groups behind us that caught up to us and we were taking it slow enjoying the round of golf. The course is beautiful. In fact it is one of the oldest courses in Northern Alberta and was designed by the same person that did the Jasper and Banff golf courses I was told. It is carved into the natural surroundings so you don't ever see any roads/buildings/etc, just trees and more trees. The course is well taken care of and has good sized fairways. Be careful though, once you are in the rough you might was well count it as a lost ball! It basically goes from fairway to rough and there isn't much in between. My visitor loved the course as well. He wasn't so sure about trundling "all" the way out to Elk Island to go golf but he raved about it during and after our round. He wants to go back when he is back next. All in all, this course is a HUGE winner in my books. It is a hidden gem for sure and I hope it does stay that way but more people do need to know about it! Happy Golfing!

Hills everywhere and the fairways are wide and long. Sometimes you're pitching at a 90 degree angle. It's absolutely gorgeous, not crowded, we took forever to play 9 holes. No rushing. And then the food at the end....smokies and the chicken burger...mmm mm. When you're done go for a little hike on the living waters walkway, drive through the buffalo loop and see some buffalo. The whole place is a beauty with top notch friendly service everywhere!
