We stopped by yesterday, my husband oblivious to the fact we were actually shopping for a new driver for him for Christmas. I knew which one he wanted but I've learned getting to swing a club a few times before purchasing it is important. Elvis was immediately helpful, he set my husband up in the virtual booth and after about 20 minutes, 25 swings and a few tips my husband had added a consistent 30 yards to his drive. The fact that his dream driver was on an incredible sale was just icing on the cake. I cannot stress how fabulous Elvis was to deal with!

I got back to work and checked the receipt and it showed I was charged $50 CAD for the hat, so back I go to find out what happened. I was told by the woman working the cash register that the $35 shown on the hat was what the amount would be if I used US dollars to buy it...I'm in Sherwood Park Alberta just like the store and we're ALL using Canadian dollars today folks. To wrap it up the store refused to give me the advertised price in CAD so they asked if I would like a refund which I said yes to. I've been coming to this store since it opened and have experienced this type of interaction too many times so I'll be finding somewhere else to get my golf needs met...I'm sure they would appreciate the business!

You can't pay it without clubs, a bag and golf balls…read more Add to that, shoes, clothes, gloves, green tools and the price tag gets pretty steep, pretty fast. Well, thank goodness for Golftown. No longer are you held hostage to inexplicably pricey pro shops, you just hop down to Golftown. This is a big box store, so it has some of those limitations, but also many of the advantages: They carry virtually every club, ball and shoe on the market from entry level to pro played. The amount of stock and seasonal nature of golf ensures a lot of sales and specials; they supplement this with special buys. Their regular pricing is not that much of an advantage, but if you're willing to wait later in the season or use last seaon's tech then you can count on some deals. They also have an indoor academy which is good, given we're socked in with snow for seven months. A few indoor lessons before the season starts helps get things off on the right foot in the Spring. On the downside, not all the staff is that knowledgeable about the equipment or the game. You can get a fitting session with one of the staff pros though, and if you're buying high end gear, that's the way to go. This is where your pro shop or independent will have an advantage, their staff usually play and know how to do a complete fitting. You have to make an appointment at Golftown. Though frankly, considering how expensive golf can be, it only makes sense to give Golftown a try.

The attendant verified she had three of the shafts and lots of taylormade tips. I said in left handed? She says it doesn't matter to which I responded it does to me and for resale it's better to have it as left handed. She came back and verified that she had lots of left handed taylormade .335 tips in stock. I asked is she could set it aside as it was a long drive for me to come get it and I didn't want it to sell out. She said don't worry we have lots. Well 1.5 hours later I get to the store and yes they have the shaft but this time I was told they have no tips not even right handed ones. After so begging they dug around and found one right handed one that was used but never cleaned when removed that I could get for a discount but I would have to remove all the old epoxy and whatever else was stuck in it. Not impressed an hour drive in and an hour drive home and didn't get what I called ahead for as I didn't want to waste two hours if they didn't have the right part that I was looking for. Amazon is 4 weeks for a left handed tip for those who will say just order on Amazon. Being a lefty sucks

brought my bike, which i bought used & which had recently developed some problems, in for their…read moreminor ($80) tune-up, and some other repairs (something to do with the pedals & the rear-wheel quick-release was broken). The bike mechanic told me it would be ~ $110; anymore, and he'd give me a call before proceeding. This was on a Tuesday, maybe an hour before they closed. He had warned me that it might take a few days to work on the bike because they had been particularly busy that weekend. Thursday, around 6pm, he gave me a call, saying that the bike needed a lot more work, and, in light of how much said work would cost, asking me if I really wanted to go thru with approx $200 work on the bike rather than buying a new one. I really respected his opinion and honesty; and after talking to me for a while, I decided to go ahead with the $200 in repairs. The bike was ready for pick-up on Saturday. It was exactly the price he said ($200) and apart from not replacing the quick-release with another quick-release, all the work done on it was excellent. Thus far, the bike has never run as well. Would definitely recommend them and will return for future service.
