We tried the lavender lemonade slushy and it was super refreshing. We were the only ones there, and pulling up was a little confusing since it looks very home-y, and we weren't totally sure where things were happening. They had a nice little selection of goodies for sale, and overall the vibe was really chill. However... there was a cat hanging around that became a bit of a deal-breaker. It climbed right up on the table where the utensils, napkins, and bagged chips were -- literally sat on the chip bags like it owned the place. Clearly not its first time doing that. who wants cat booty on their food? I'm all for farm animals and pets, but I don't think they should be around areas where food is being handled or served -- especially where straws and napkins are kept. Then our drink came out with a straw already in it, and while it was brought from the kitchen, it made me wonder if the cat's allowed back there too. They also mentioned a flower garden we could check out, which we did but it took only a few minutes, and then we headed out. Overall, it's a relaxing little spot, but not much to do, and the food hygiene situation needs some serious work. I definitely don't want cat butt near my snacks.

If you're shy, you can wait for one of the cutters to walk by yelling, "Anyone need a cutter?" That works too. This farm has so many different varieties to choose from. I wanted a Noble fir but ended up selecting a silver tip. All trees cost the same no matter what kind you get or how tall it is. Once your tree is cut, he brings it to the line for you. You pay. They shake the tree in a contraption to remove dry needles. Then after you pay, they tie the tree up and give you some rope so you can tie it down your car. Easy peasy. Don't forget to tip your cutter. They work hard! So much better than just picking a tree from a parking lot. I want to come back every year!

The staff are wonderful and the "cutters" do their best to make selecting and cutting the tree a magical experience. They start the tree cutting for you, with their own saws (you don't need to bring your own), so the tree regrows properly - but they each let us take turns. Not as easy as they make it look! So helpful at every step of the process - including free wrapping and tying it to the car. We found a beautiful 9' Turkish Nordman with blue hues on the bottom and it has barely dropped any needles after the initial shaking!!

So driving up and seeing how many they had was super promising! We walked in, were greeted by a few of the workers offering their help when we find some etching we liked, and we went a searching. Let me say, they had a LOT of good looking trees! So why the 2-star rating? Well, we were greatly disappointed to see that NONE of the trees were being kept in any water! We'd touch the branches and needles, and some seemed aite, but all we kept thinking was, will this tree last till the New Year? We're a house that keeps the Xmas decor up through the first week of Jan before taking it all down. So that would mean an entire month, if not slightly more, for us needing the tree to last. And with them not being kept in water, we wondered how 'dead' they might already be. I braved to ask a worker how long have they had those trees, and couldn't believe he said for "maybe a week or so". I then made the comment/question of "and you don't keep them in any water?" He shook his head no and honestly, that made up Hubs' mind right then & there. I honestly couldn't believe these trees had already not been in water for that amount of time. If you Google, fresh cut Christmas trees only last 6-8hrs without water before they can no longer drink water. And they need the water to last 4-5 weeks! So, although many, many people do purchase from this lot year after year, I'm not sure how long their trees are lasting. On the plus side, their prices were fantastic!! But we just couldn't bring ourselves to buy even with those prices while having the thought of buying a tree that possibly was already partially dead and wouldn't drink water again. If Sutton's would 'splurge' on buckets or SOMETHING to keep those amazing trees in water on the lot, I'd consider giving them our business. So here, you may be getting what you pay for. Not ever having gotten a Christmas tree (during my young adult years) from any place other than a…read moretree lot (we used to cut them down when I was a kid in the Midwest), I wasn't sure where to go to cut down our own tree in Northern California. I figured if we made our way up towards the Apple Hill Area, we would be bound to find something. So that's exactly what we did. As luck would have it, we happened upon Apple Country Christmas Tree Farm. We were given a map, a saw, and told where on the large, open acreage we would have our best chances to find a good tree. The closer plots of land were pretty picked over (we came on December 2nd!) so we trekked further back on the property and began our search. After some looking and comparing, climbing and inspecting, we found our tree. You tag it, and a pickup truck comes by and takes your tree back to the entrance where they net it for you and it's ready to go once you hike back. Both my boyfriend and I weren't used to how spread out the branches of this breed/style of Christmas tree are and were hesitant at first, but once we got our tree home, we loved it. For $58 (no matter the size of tree you cut), we couldn't be happier with our tree and the whole experience.

This year max price is $90 & that's for a 10 ft. and over top-of-the-line Noble or Nordmann. The guys that cut & haul the trees are super friendly and efficient (don't forget to tip---after all they're doing the hard work!!). It was crowded this Sat. after Thanksgiving, but in no way unmanagable. Parking was tricky, so plan to walk some. But, that's the point, isn't it? We took our dogs & there were a bunch of other folks who did so as well. Everyone's dogs were well behaved, because they quickly get worn out traipsing up & down the hills (unless they're used to that sort of thing). Luckily, we found our tree just after our biggest dog plopped down & decided SHE was done looking. LOL This farm is just before Hillside Tree Farm (where we got our tree last year & I also reviewed). The people , trees and prices here are equally awesome. Just remember to bring cash or a personal check. OH! If you sign up for their list you get a $5 discount on next year's tree. Works for me... This year we got a 8 ft. Nordmann (looks similar to a silvery Noble Fir), a tree skirt, an ornament & tree care instructionsd for our $70. Not bad at all.... Walmart wants $75+ tax for their Noble's this year.I know I had a LOT more picking mine out at Rapetti's Tree Farm than I would have from a retailer or a tree lot! This year we had warm sunny weather...ahhh, amazing for almost December. I walked around in a T shirt & sweats. Last year we got snow & rain the whole time (same weekend). So definitely check the weather before heading out so you can dress appropriately and have a good time.

It didn't feel over crowded and they offered free parking and admission. I loved their photo ops - from the welcome arch to the massive hay pyramid. They offered a pumpkin launcher area which my daughter loved - it was $8 for 4 mini pumpkins. I bought 2 buckets! They also had tractor rides, a corn maze, horse wagon rides and an area to make your own bouquet from farm fresh flowers. We wanted to check out the corn maze, but we skipped it because of the heat. They didn't have actual food, but they did offer snacks like popcorn, kettle corn and caramel apples. I'm a big fan of odd looking pumpkins and not just the traditional ones so we picked up a good mix - from a yellow warty one, to a candy corn colored Fairytale one to a couple of Baby Boos. I liked that we were able to pick pumpkins that we're used for decorations or the ones around the front desk area instead of having to walk out in the fields looking. You could buy any of the pumpkins that we're out on display! Overall, I love Fall and all things that come with it and Little Field Farms hit the spot for me even though it was the last warm weekend of the year. Everyone working was super nice! We had a blast and I could see us coming back next year!
