The kids have plenty of mat room and parents have room and space to hang out and enjoy. The room offers lots of mats for the floor, mats on the wall, mirrors on the walls, rings, and ropes. The best part about this school is the staff working. All of the coaches and volunteers working in this FOLSOM community are phenomenal. They all are fantastic with children. They work really hard to be as patient and helpful as possible- with all the different personalities and ages of each child. They all understand the energy and compassion that each individual needs. If you have children, this is definitely a place to come and bring them. I suggest doing so 100%! I love this place and the people working in it!

Most main stage speaker sessions occurred at the Jill Solberg Performing Arts Center theater for everyone including students/athletes, with the separate individual breakout sessions for coaches/parents/administrators happening in one of the two-story classroom buildings (I believe the two classrooms I visited were typically used for World History and Geography), and continental breakfast and sandwich lunch in the multipurpose room/cafeteria area. The theater was big, about 700 person capacity, comfortable seating, and an impressive lights/sound system for the stage. #whatsyourwhy

Graduated from this "fine" public institution over thirty years ago as a student. Looks like the…read moreschool continues to provide the same educational support and emotional safety to their students today as it did decades ago. I grieve for the child who wanted nothing more but to learn and was continually hamstrung by subpar, below average teachers who resented being there and a reflective administration. Leadership seems to always rot at the head. I recall there was one legendary teacher, Mr. Begg, who passed away over a decade ago. I'm grateful I was able to be his student. Incredible. RIP. Some things never change.

As a parent, I cannot recommend this school for students who are in general education but also…read morerequire additional support through an IEP. Our experience this year was extremely disappointing. When my son's mental health began to decline, I reached out repeatedly for support. Emails often went unanswered, requests for assistance were delayed, and an emergency IEP meeting I requested was never scheduled. During a very serious crisis, I felt abandoned by the very people who were supposed to help. My son experienced ongoing bullying from peers regarding his appearance and weight. Despite our concerns, he felt isolated, unheard, and unsupported. Over time, he began to believe that he was failing both academically and socially. Rather than feeling encouraged, he felt ridiculed and invisible. The most heartbreaking part is that my son experienced a mental health crisis on school grounds and later required extensive therapy and medical treatment. During that time, not a single staff member reached out to check on his wellbeing. The lack of compassion was shocking. Because of missed communication and lack of support during his recovery, my son was also unable to participate in important end-of-year activities, including the promotion walk. Thankfully, my son received the care he needed through private medical providers and is doing much better today. His recovery is due to the dedication of his therapists, doctors, and family. I hope the school takes a hard look at how it supports vulnerable students. Every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported, especially when they are struggling. Parents of students who require additional support should ask detailed questions about how the school handles bullying, mental health concerns, and IEP accommodations before enrolling.

My children have only attended the SWS high school, but we love it. They are focused on learning…read morefor a lifetime. It is a college prep curriculum and, as our children have been going there (we have been part of this community for over 7 years, but Waldorf educated family for the past 14+ years) I have noticed a definite shift from the "artsy" reputation it may have had in the past. It really is a college prep school, yet stays true to the Waldorf curriculum in terms of human growth. And, as with all Waldorf schools, the arts are very alive with fine arts, theater and music all well integrated into the program. This is not your average high school: there is no football team, no cheerleading squad, few electives. It isn't typically American in those ways. Waldorf has enriched our family in endless ways: I will forever be grateful for this education. Update: November 2013 My oldest has been graduated from the high school and on to college for about 2 1/2 years now. She is now actually thanking me for this schooling: she realizes what a blessing it has been to her. That says so much about Waldorf education!

Her first week was absolutely packed with fun activities. They did tie-dye, a color run, and even took a hike to the park. She absolutely loved it, and it felt like there was always something going on. The second week was a little different. There didn't seem to be as many planned activities, and she mentioned having quite a bit more downtime. It wasn't necessarily bad, but after such a fun and activity-filled first week, I think we were both expecting a little more. The campus itself is really nice, and one thing I appreciated was that there weren't a ton of kids in her camp group. I want to say there were around eight kids, which made it feel smaller and more personal. They also had a really fun potluck, and I've heard they sometimes take bike rides to a local coffee shop, which sounds like such a fun little adventure for the kids. Overall, my daughter enjoyed her time there, especially that first week. I just wish the activities had been a little more consistent from week to week. If both weeks had been like the first one, this easily would have been a 5-star experience. Helpful tip: If you're signing your child up for multiple weeks, just know that the activities may vary quite a bit depending on the week.

The bags are extremely heavy to carry all day, and now my daughter has severe back issues that are far worse than before she even started school here. Her last middle school did NOT have this issue. This is causing long term, permanent damage because of how heavy the backpacks are! My daughter's back hurts so bad everyday even crying some days from it hurting so badly. This has caused her posture to be very poor because her back hurts so bad to keep it straight! This really infuriates me! The school clearly doesn't care about our kids health or skeletal development otherwise they would have a system for the kids books. I've carried her backpack, and even I would have major issues with it pulling on my neck and causing back aches. These are young children and Their bodies are still growing. We are in Folsom supposed to be better schools. There should be a better solution for this very serious problem!
