Sun Run Cafe - Breakfast Sandwich

    Sun Run Cafe

We happened upon Sun Run Cafe for breakfast one morning because the cafe we were planning to go to…read morein Combermere was permanently closed. So, looking for another option we droves to Maynooth and found Sun Run. It was very busy! There was seating indoors as well as outdoors. With it being a rather chilly morning, we got lucky and snagged one of the tables as another party was leaving. You place your order at the counter and they'll bring it out to you. They have many baked goods like homemade Pop Tarts, Cupcakes and Honey Crullers. But they also have breakfast and lunch sandwich options. The 3 others in my party got breakfast sandwiches, and I got a sandwich from the lunchtime menu. I opted for the grilled cheese. I'm so glad it did- it was great! The bread was baked in house and you could really taste the quality. Then where was 2 types of cheddar with thinly sliced apples ham and some honey. It was delicious and wasn't too greasy or decadent. Everyone else at my table raved about their sandwiches too, including my sister-in-law who got the buckwheat gluten-free option and loved it so much, she made an inquiry as to if she could buy some of the bread to take home. While they don't sell the loaves, it says a lot that she was moved enough to even ask. Overall a great experience here. Sun Run saved the morning- there's a total lack of breakfast restaurants open on Sunday in these parts, so we were really happy to not only get a meal, but impressed by how delicious it was!

Amazing, amazing, amazing! Super sweet staff…read more Hmmm, I got one of their delicious home made granola bars. A lemon cookie, a chocolate goodie and on a separate occassion, one of their chickpea burgers, their iced tea and a slice of carrot cake. Busy little breakfast spot and very popular as a pass through cafe on the way up to or coming from Algonquin Park. One of the only places to get some good food in this tiny town (the other, the Hostel!) Came here for the first time several weeks ago and I had to splurge and try a variety of their items. Staff is friendly, helpful and adorable. The space is bright and welcoming. They have local art too on the walls. The chickpea burger, I requested it be made with a lot of mustard on the bun and they delivered. It was awesome because when the young man handed it to me he said, "chickpea burger with lots a mustard". This made me smile. I also gave a slender kanteen to have the iced tea placed in. To save on plastic. They filled it right up for me, which I wasn't expecting at all. ABOVE AND BEYOND service. The iced tea is a house blend and is very tasty and refreshing. The chickpea burger was well made and satisfying. Driving back to the city I preserved the carrot cake slice and had it upon my arrival. SO GOOD. I would have loved some walnuts in there, yet I know others prefer no nuts. The price is incredibly affordable and well worth it. For the first set of goodies I paid jus under 8 bucks and for the chickpea burger, the carrot cake and iced tea came to jus over $17. Coming from Toronto an order like that would likely be closer to $25. I would highly recommend this place. The first time I saw a key lime dessert I really desired to try it the second time. Yet they didn't have it when I returned. This place is worth stopping. Maynooth is very charming so while you wait for your food you can have a look see at the other shops on that strip of their "downtown". Very busy on the weekends and closed Mondays and Tuesdays. If you see something that appeals to you. Get it! Support the local community. You'll be happy you did. I am craving that key lime treat and now I need to wait.... will definitely return again.
