I'm really impressed with Personal Care Dentistry after being a patient at Park Dental for years. The hygienists are lovely people (shout out to Brianne, if I remember her name correctly, she's amazing), and mostly good communicators. I had to get my permanent retainer removed, and they offered a much more reasonable price for the work, including replacing it with a better version. They recently made huge renovations to their clinic (thanks to building equipment malfunction on an upper level), so it's very new and clean. They do charge extra for credit cards, which can be a lot when the bill is so large (as it often is with the lack of dental insurance coverage. When I went and have my teeth cleaned (which is preventative care and free for in-plan dentists) I was charged. When I called to ask, they just dropped United Heathcare a week prior to my appointment and failed to mention this when I gave them my insurance card at the beginning of my appointment. I then got a piece of mail a week later saying I could pay for a membership and would get the in-plan pricing. Money hungry and unethical. DO NOT GO HERE FOR YOUR DENTAL NEEDS. Save yourself money and a headache.

I responded with a request to cancel my appointment due to my dental insurance expiring. Laine, the Practice Manager, responded to my cancellation request to say that Droel "always verifies benefits/eligibility before your scheduled appointment" (with many typos). She also specifically told me that I am covered for the next ~8.5 months based on the Delta Dental benefit calendar. She ended her text with "You are definitely eligible to come in :)" About a month after my appointment, I was again contacted via text to say that "the plan we had on file seems to have terminated which has left a pretty hefty balance on your account" of over $1,000. This is extremely frustrating given what I mentioned above. I trusted Droel to be the experts on dental insurance coverage since it is something they deal with on a daily basis, but instead I'm left wondering if they are dishonest or downright predatory toward their patients on purpose. Despite their negligence on this issue, they refused to offer me any sort of concession on my balance due, and even threatened to send it to a collection agency. On top of this, their quality of care is severely lacking. Wait times are extremely long for any sort of procedure beyond a routine cleaning, which leads me to believe that the doctor, Andy is stretching his practice too thin. I've also had to have multiple follow-up visits to fix sharp edges and uneven fillings, further reinforcing that Droel only cares about volume and not patient satisfaction. While I'm fortunate enough to be able to just pay this balance and avoid any further conflict, I'm afraid that this is not an isolated issue with Droel Family Dentistry, and that their subpar level of care could lead to a significant financial burden for others. I hope this review does something to combat that. Neither I nor my family will be returning to Droel Family Dentistry for any future dental care needs.

The staff was very helpful explaining the process and pricing, and I could easily message them on the app if I had a question or issue. Scheduled an initial intake at the Lakeville location and things went smoothly. Met with Dr. Molldrem and he was keen on everyone getting 'paid what they were owed' in the context of my insurance lowballing him. Mind you, the staff drive luxury SUVs and they have TWO locations. Several MONTHS later I have my teeth cleaning and not only could they not accommodate my allergies, they never had the intent to. Furthermore, they refused to coordinate care between me and my Medical Doctor to figure out appropriate treatment based on my Dr.'s medical orders. I asked politely to receive updates within the week regarding sussing out my treatment plan and they told me to get lost. I asked for recommendations on who else to go to if they couldn't get the job done and they told me to check with my insurance (HAH!). So here I am without any of the treatments they had agreed to help me work through. I called to file a complaint and the Eden Prairie location told me that this all had 'nothing to do with their professionalism' and that 'if I was unhappy with my care I could always find someone else'. I would say that treating me like a burden because I'm not filthy rich is a professionalism issue but whatever. Don't go here unless you love feeling awful.

At first it seemed procedural but it was not long until they started offering expensive services like mouth guards for night botox to stop teeth grinding. It felt like scare sales tactics every time i went in. I eventually got two new crowns after some visits and genuinely thinking they were necessary. Both of them popped out in less than a year. I called the office to see what they could do. They said I would have to pay for it all over again and laughed at me telling me there is no warranty on crowns. This was after the office people talked to Dr. Molldrem and called me back. I already got one redone and have to do the other soon. I have to pay for the crowns twice! UPDATE because I almost forgot about the random $1,000 bill i got after i thought I was all paid up because, for (1) they messed up the insurance calculation on the crowns and for (2) they couldn't figure my insurance out for the teeth cleaning (which I had) that could have been resolved had THEY not waited so long.
