Very quick process if you book an appointment online and make sure that you have all of your documentation together and it is legible!!

The TWIC is an identification card for all personnel requiring unescorted access to secure areas of Marine Transit Security Act regulated facilities and vessels and other sensitive areas like refineries. There were small snags when TWIC came out where some people were not getting their cards for months and still a lot of others getting faulty twic cards that had to be reissued but they have since fixed this. Around the beginning of August I was able to get mine verified and processed in about one week so things are not so bad at this time. Parking is ample since the building is situated in the middle of a lot where it is surrounded and if you are lucky can find a shade one one side of the building or trees that are there on hot summer days. Once you take the elevator to the third floor you go down the hallway where the arrows point you. Toward the end of the hallway before it turns right you will enter the door on the left. From there if you are lucky and land the right timing you will get to a desk where you will proceed to show the person at the desk your Government or State issued I.D. card and social security card. Most important if you were NOT born in the USA you will be requested to show another form of document like your passport, naturalization papers and such. After this you pay the person in Cashier's check or Money order for $129.75 and then fill out the information requested on a clipboard that they will hand to you. After handing the desk person the clipboard you wait in the waiting room that probably holds about 25 or so people. There probably isn't an over flow since you make an actual appointment online to come in and get this done. When you are called up again you are taken to the back room where you are shortly interviewed a few questions. During this process you will have your index fingers printed as well as both thumbs, a photo snapped of you and you are released on your way with the anxiety that you hope everything goes by quickly where you are notified when your card is approved. The personnel here are not rude, actually I remember pleasant, would be nice if downtown Houston courts and offices could model after these folks as well as the folks over at the Safety Council building but oh well.

When it's your turn to walk thru the second door, there is someone there to Greet you and make sure you have all the necessary paperwork for whatever you're here to accomplish. Apparently they're going thru a computer upgrade so it's taking more time than usual to be called up. You receive a number and sit down and wait patiently for your number to be called. I don't know if the ac is broken but it is so hot in this office, my glasses were steaming up. Arrived around 250pm and was called up at 3pm. Staff was friendly and provided service in a timely manner. I definitely recommend this place over downtown as you have plenty of parking at this location and it's free!

I had a lot of questions and emails to the Harris county tax office were promptly answered. The answers to my questions were pretty generic and didn't really give me the details I was asking for so I decided to make an appointment to go in person as I didn't want to mess up and snail mail the wrong title fees and sales tax. I lucked out and managed to snag an appointment for the very next day (10/12/21) when all the other locations didn't have any availability until at least a week or two out. ***FYI*** they don't take walk-ins for vehicle related stuff. Lady in an email said I could walk-in only to pay the sales tax on my new car but couldn't register. I got to my appt 10 minutes early, there were 2 other people getting served. When one of those people left, I was called up. Handled my business with no hassle I'm about 5 minutes and WALKED OUT WITH TAGS IN HAND! I had read online that tax offices in Texas were taking weeks or even over a month to mail tags! Seriously was blown away by how smooth this transaction was. I had had a fair amount of anxiety about this but it couldn't have gone any better. The best experience I've ever had at a government office!

I had to get permission to go in to work late so I could have it not be delinquent. I can't stand more than a few minutes without intense burning and pain during bad flares, and I'm in a horrible one now since my trunk fell on me and I had already gotten shoulder injections a few weeks prior. My back problems have been present for over 20 years, and I have fibro, AS, and autoimmune issues as well. Anyway, I usually go to the one on Chimney Rock, but that one can take a really long time. If I was off I wouldn't mind so much. The reviews for Griggs as well as calling and speaking with a very nice woman pointed me in the direction of this location. I planned on getting here at 7:30, but rain and life had me moving slow. I arrived in the parking lot after 8:20 and was out by 9:07. That's with me shuffling around my bags because of the rain and trying to protect my paperwork before actually going in. I was even able to get 2 placards, which I was about to ask for as mine looked like who did it and what for after 4 years of actual use. Faded to nothing and taped together in 2 places. I just turned 42 and work full time in addition to having nieces and nephews. My placard is always moving, and I drive my brother's vehicles since I can't easily move the car seats with my musculoskeletal and pain issues. The actual time from waiting in my seat to the desk and out the door was maybe 10-15 minutes. The only suggestion I have is the sign in sheet for the handicapped like the Chimney Rock location has so we don't have to stand in line and wait to check in at the desk for a number. Thankfully the line was short and I spoke with a lovely woman while waiting. However I had brought extra items for the wait(as I've had to wait hours in the past), my chair pillow, umbrella, iPad, and my bag was heavier than usual. Standing was extremely painful. It's not the same as standing with nothing in hand. There were chairs against the wall, but I did not want to risk losing my place in line. Outside of that it was a great experience. I'll be coming to this location for my needs from now on even though it's a bit further from home.

I went through the website, and figured out my forms ahead of time, filled them out and printed them. I had some questions and emailed them ahead of time, they answered within two business days. Very good service. The place is located in the palm center. A rather old, strip, but a big parking lot. A refurb wouldn't hurt anyone. The tax assessors office is small corner adjacent to the courthouse. Make sure you go in the right door, and wait in the appropriate spot, or they will get at you. Already seated in the waiting room. I walked up to the desk, provided my paperwork, and she was very happy that I had already had it filled out and was ready to go. Gave me a ticket and even though I had just walked in, I was called up to a desk within 2 minutes and was done in 5 minutes. Keep in mind I came 20 minutes early and they still saw me early and I was out before my original time had passed. Excellent service! Do as much as you can to get the things done ahead of time, and you will not have to wait, and it will be a much easier and more pleasant experience for you.
