They are short staffed so it's not their fault, but it's still frustrating lol but overall the appointment went smooth and Ms. Space was a delight! As I was explaining the situation, the male clerk continued to talk over me. I asked him repeatedly to please let me finish and listen to what I have to say first! (That was a red flag there!) Because he was so eager to go to lunch, he gave me "my" paperwork and tried to shoo me out the door. I had to stop and summarize the course of action before I left. As I am on the bus home and about to reach my drop off point, I looked through my envelop of documents I brought essential to the meeting, only to discover that he did not give me my documents but someone else's tax return!!! Some poor soul who saw this clerk before me now has his tax return with confidential info in my hands!! I had to get on another bus and head back to the IRS office. Yes, I made a scene when they told me he was at lunch and I have to wait. Total incompetence!!!

The Port of Oakland was home to the very first containerized shipping terminal on the west coast of the United States. The Port of Oakland is highly visible. From the San francisco-oakland Bay Bridge Trail you have an amazing view of the Oakland outer harbor. From the middle harbor Park, formerly the Oakland naval supply Center in Oakland army base, you have an amazing view of the entrance to the Oakland inner harbor. What used to be the Oakland middle harbor he is now a marine habitat. From the gravel parking lot adjacent to the former naval Air Station in Alameda, you can sit and watch container ships which are larger than skyscrapers maneuver into position alongside the dock. The main office is for the Port of Oakland are in a surprisingly nondescript building at Jack London square. If you get a chance, peer into their downstairs conference room and you'll see an interesting model vehicle which is a composite I'm an airplane and a container ship. And did I mention, the Port of Oakland is also the Oakland International airport. Those of us who live in the San Francisco Bay Area, especially the East Bay, deal day today with the horrible traffic on interstate 880. Much of it is created by 80 foot shipping containers on the back of semi tractor-trailers. These container trucks tear apart the highway, contribute to noise pollution, and are frankly ugly to look at. But these trucks, and the Port of Oakland, keep our nation running.

My first time was when I had a meeting with an organization that is inside and I was stunned to see how beautiful it is! This building is over 10 years old and still looks like a brand new spanking building! This is such a beautiful architecture building in downtown Oakland! Very accessible to BART getting on and off at the 12 Street Station. This building is well secured by Security so please be prepared to put all your belongings through a scanner. If you seem to beep for any reason (unfortunately I wear tons of jewelry and I always beep when I go through the metal detectors) so you will be scanned with a handheld detector and asked to turn around and left your arms up. Yes, they are Very secured. There are bathrooms on the first floor on your right hand side once you enter. On the 2nd floor there is a small Cafeteria and they also serve Peet's Coffee that is the café. There are signs to help direct you to where you are going but once you walk in , it does seem like a maze. There are escalators and elevators to help you get from one floor to another. In this building you would find: Department of Rehabilitation (DOR), Department of Real Estate and many other state related organizations and depts. There is garage parking across the street that is open for anyone. It's definitely not the cheapest so I would definitely encourage you to take public transportation. REVIEW 142/196

The lines, especially after holidays LOOK very long outside but the wait OUTSIDE isn't usually that long. Twice someone came outside of the office and explained to us what to expect once inside. I use a cane most of the time and standing long periods of time is hard but the 3rd time I went, people saw I was getting dizzy and they let me go ahead of them! Just inside the door, there is someone who asks you what you're there for,, then another person gives you a ticket for a window depending what kind of help or form you need, The waiting room is usually crowded but there are chairs. A lot of us need help and it's easier to go in person if you don't have a printer or the internet (which happened to me) OR if you need a form for some other agency. I haven't been to there for several months but I know what to expect now; I got the help I've needed. I guess it's like home: 1) if you have to go there, they have to let you in (as long as you don't get there 10 minutes before closing time. 2) Speak to people the way you want to be spoken to. 3) Remember we are all one family, for better or for worse. 4) Know that the people at the windows are just as tired of everything being so hard as we are. 5) They've been underpaid and overworked for years and they can only do what the darn system allows them to do AND 6) Unlike us, they have to go there every day and handle the daunting task of helping as many of us as possible with the limited amount of time and money that The Man gives them.

I came here for jury duty. I noticed that there weren't many recent reviews when I searched it here…read moreso wanted to add a review. On the online portal where you see jury reporting, it lists the parking garage. It is located on the corner of 7th and Jefferson. I highly suggest parking at the garage. It is $7 but $6 with validation. The garage does get full so get there early. I got there at 7:00 when it opened to ensure I always got a spot. Some of the staff also park here. I preferred to park here vs the street because adding money for the street parking is not ideal considering we may be in court when the time runs out and I saw people get tickets who parked on the street. The juror room was larger than other courthouses. The space is very well kept/clean and there's free WiFi for you to work in between etc. This is also where you get your parking ticket validated for the garage (you get $1 off when validated). Shoutout to Vicki for being so helpful! The food cart downstairs was also good and they had a good variety. Although many people don't like jury duty, I found the staff to be helpful and the space to be clean. It was easy to navigate as well. They made my jury duty experience positive.

Then goes on in circles about how she doesn't need to hear everything, which took longer than just answering my question. Yeah, she's a total genius. This just shows how lowly educated these individuals are. I interacted with the judge/commissioner here and he was patient and was clear in all of his directions, as well as taking the time to make sure all individuals understood their rights. This just show you the difference an education makes. If this woman can't even do her job correctly in a place that's administering the law, she doesn't deserve employment here.
