I was just waiting for the ring like a racehorse waits for gunfire. Now I could finally contact my chosen vendors and taste some cake. The problem was that I had been looking for months for a wedding dress that would satisfy the desires of both my inner child, with her fairy-tale inspired princess-dress dreams, and at the same time my current, more refined fashion appetite that channeled such icons as audrey, jackie, every Prada thing ever made. Further, I wanted to find a modest dress that I could wear to get sealed in a Temple, which is believed by my church to be a highly sacred House of God for those non-Mormon's out there. Well, after much searching I had at least made some solid decisions: No sequence, pearls, lace, or any embellishments. I wanted to focus on the quality of the fabric, lines, and construction of the dress, and I didn't want the integrity of these key elements to be compromised by gaudiness. I wanted pure silk. I wanted beautiful ruching. I wanted mermaid style, old hollywood elegance. And I wanted it all under $3,000. Preferably under $2,000. That's where Penny, the dressmaker behind "Penelope's" came in. She was referred to me by the same highly trusted source who recommended my photographer. Going to see Penny for the first time, I felt like I was Cinderella going to her fairy godmother with a pumpkin and some rats. I was sure I would get laughed at for my unrealistic desires, and talked into a standard, boring, mormon cut-out of a dress (read: t-shirt style short-sleeved top, puffy A-line skirt. Buttons down back. Long veil.) I was all but shaking. But that was not the case! Penny listened and took notes, and even presented me with a book of silk samples to choose from. She sketched out the dress with my direction, and then quoted me a price that almost took the wind out of me. I wanted to shout from the rooftops- "The Church is True!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (Also, a Mormon reference. Sorry.) And so my perfect dress was constructed. The end.

Penny is very talented and will go any direction you'd like. I got soooooo many compliments on my dress. Everyone said it was so "me." Her pricing is quite reasonable. This sounds like a dream come true, right?! Just make sure you schedule pretty far out. I came here, looking for a veil only. Originally, they were not even going to let me try on my dress with the veil because I did not purchase my dress there. We tried to be understanding, but there was literally nobody else in the store that could've possibly seen my dress. We even asked if we could just try it on in the fitting room so that no other customers would be able to see it if they came in. The girl working went and asked the owner and she made an exception, Which we were very grateful for. But then my veil was ordered wrong:( I was very in love with one veil, but the length of another. They told me since it was the same designer they could basically combine the two. We double triple quadruple checked and they reassured us. It was possible. I even checked over text message, They reassured me again. It would be correct. My veil showed up indeed, NOT correct. They didn't really take responsibility. They blamed the website for the error. I kind of expected since it was a designer for them to call or message the designer directly, to be entirely positive since I was told it had never been done before. The only options to fix it that were given to me, were basically to receive a refund, take the incorrect veil home or purchase a new one. No discount was offered. No compensation. Mind you, I waited 4 weeks for my veil which I know is awesome turn around time. BUT I did let them know that my wedding was very soon, and they assured me the correct veil would arrive in time. Now I am practically out of time, with no veil. Again, the store is very pretty from what I saw, they have beautiful dress dresses. But I am a little annoyed at their lack of accountability and problem-solving.

We signed up for a silversmithing class at 2 PM with what we expected to be a 2 hour maybe 3 at…read morebest, and we were there for 4.5 hours. Its really unfair that you pack in a full class and put 4-5 people per 1 silversmith. Not to mention our Silversmith had only 2 months experience and over-polished on of our rings which ruined its luster and look. These rings are OVER $150.00 to make and they should be FLAWLESS? The cost to make these is not discussed until you are in the class, and its at a minimum $75.00 to do. Not to mention every GEM is at a minimum another $30-75 to add to it. We left feeling very frustrated at a $330.00 bill on rings that were not to our standard, and had to be redone more than once during the experience.

As for my ring, I wear it EVERYWHERE. I NEVER take it off. It used to be a light blue color and has turned green. I have worn it in chlorine pools, cleaning my house with chemicals and I'm sure that is the reason the stone changed. But the metal has never rusted or changed colors. It's good quality metal and I'll be back.

Update: Months later I am writing this because I don't want it to happen to anyone else…read more Bitsy really talked me into buying the sample size of this dress for cheaper. Come to find out that the price for the seamstress to fix it was only a few hundred less then buying a brand new dress in my size. I wish I had done that. I know I could've made a different choice but I was dress shopping on my own at 20 and didn't really have anyone to go to for advice. I put all my trust into Bitsy. At my last fitting the seamstress let me know that the beaded pattern on the front would have to be cut up on one side. The pattern was supposed to be symmetrical. It ruined the whole dress for me. It did not even end up fitting me correctly, it wasn't snug enough on my breasts but too tight on my waist so my boobs were being pushed up and out in a weird and uncomfortable way. Luckily my hair was thick and to my butt so it covered it up. Then on my wedding day my strap broke during my ceremony. I had to change out of my dress for my dinner. Now I can't even sell or rent out the dress because it is so lopsided. I'm sad and frustrated that I ended up spending so much on something that was supposed to be so important to be. I would not recommend this shop after this experience.
