Normally I'm not one to write poor reviews but I feel like I need to in this situation.
I started going to Tuscani about 2 months ago to have my acrylic nails filled. At first, they were great. Reasonable prices, fast service and clean atmosphere. I always left happy. But then my acrylics started falling off. I found myself going back in within a few days of having them done, just to pay another $20 for a fill/repair.
This morning (July 7th), I noticed one of my acrylics had a crack. I had them filled FIVE DAYS AGO (another $20), but evidently they needed to be repaired. I went in and was seated by a lady who did not greet me and appeared to speak little English. I had trouble communicating with her as to what the problem was, and she ended up taking three of my acrylics off. She then proceeded to put the acrylic powder on the three nails without the plastic piece. I stopped her and asked if she could put a new plastic piece back on my nail, which then turned into about 5 minutes of us going back and forth because she clearly could not understand what I was asking.
Finally, another employee came over and told me that my nails were "too old", and asked if I wanted the entire set redone (a substantial up-charge). At this point I'm frustrated and embarrassed, since the majority of the salon has tuned in to listen to this conversation and clearly my request was not understood. I told then to just take all of the nails off (I didn't want to keep paying for a product that would fall off within days). My original technician seemed a bit irritated at my request, and began prying each nail off of my finger. Due to the method she was using, or possibly her lack of experience(?), I was in EXCRUCIATING pain. The feeling of my nails being ripped off paired with the embarrassment of what had just happened began to get to me, and I spent the rest of my time in the chair fighting back tears.
The three customers facing me were giving me sympathy pouts and smiles, obviously noting that I was in pain and upset. My technician then cut my actual nail, causing the entire fingernail to split and bleed. She looked up at me and in a monotone voice said "sorry", and kept hacking away at my bloody nail. At this point I'm flinching and wincing in pain. She treated the split, bloody nail (which didn't stop bleeding until about an hour after I left) just like the others and sanded it down, causing even more damage and pain. Then, at the end of this entire ordeal, she charged me $10 for the service. I left the store in tears.
It has now been a few hours since I went in and I have not been able to run my nails under hot water because they are so sensitive. I know have TWO severely split nails, and it hurts to put any amount of pressure on any of my fingertips. My nails feel like tissue paper and bend when touched.
I am SO disappointed in my experience. I hope this is not a common practice at this salon, and I am not looking forward to the healing process with two split nails with the rest severely damaged. The fact that I had to PAY FULL PRICE for this is atrocious. I have been a loyal customer and have even recommended them to many people, but not anymore. I left today in tears due to the physical pain and humiliation I felt during my appointment. read more
