Holy SHIT! I do not even know where to start. They are now called Southport Crossing by the way and their new website is all lies. The phones are disconnected during business hours, and the office NEVER has a clue about what is going on. I can not wait until we move out!
Living here has been a nightmare since day one. On the move in day October 2014, we weren't allowed to be in the apartment. No one would give us a straight answer as to why. The office wasn't being completely honest with us, telling us that it wasn't finished and that the "cleaning" crew wasn't done yet. Well, the "cleaning" crew stood outside for 2 hours smoking cigarettes! We had to harass the office to get to the bottom of what was happening. Come to find out, the basement was flooding pretty bad and they didn't want us to see it. We made it very clear to them that we had no other place to go and if we didn't start unpacking the truck, we would have to pay to have it another day, which we would then gladly forward them the bill for. They let us move in but we obviously couldn't use the basement for any type of storage.
As the first week went on they gave us a sheet of paper to write about anything that was broken, scratched, dented, ect., but no one from the office was there with us to review it. There was glass on the floor in the kitchen and under the fridge, the counter tops are scratched badly and faded, giant dents in the walls, the bathrooms were disgusting and had yellow stains on the walls, the patio door shakes in the wind and doesn't shut all the way, the pot holes are so bad the alignment on my car is way off, the speed bumps aren't marked, writing on the bedroom windows in some sort of gel or paint done by a child (and it won't come off), staples in the wall have been painted over, our front door doesn't close all the way, the basement floor is painted. And guess what. When it floods, the paint on the floor bubbles up and it chips. It chips right off all over the damn place and gets stuck to your feet! It's impossible not to track it up stairs to the carpet and into your beds. We can't go down there with out shoes. In the winter time, the pipes will freeze and you won't be able to use the water. The patio is joke. Slanted, broken cement surrounded by a poorly constructed "privacy" fences. When I went to the office to register my pet with them, they didn't take any of the information down. I don't even think they took down my renters insurance information. Very weird.
The whole complex looks dirty...and it is. The mice! Oh, how could I forget?! They made our lives hell for the first 6 months. Mouse droppings and urine everywhere in the kitchen and living room. We cleaned each and every day. But they just kept coming. To control the pests, they had an exterminator come out each Friday. Why do you want to live where the exterminator comes each Friday?! Anyway, they gave us glue traps and little boxes but it didn't help. Our dishes and food constantly had to be washed and thrown out. Finally, after reporting another gas leak, the moved the stove and found a giant hole where they had been coming and going as the please. We haven't had any issue with mice since they closed the hole, but it took months to have them come and help us.
Cops are here every day to break up fights or arrest someone. Pizza delivery businesses are afraid to deliver here. No joke. Some of our cars have been broken into. It's just ghetto.
So, our washer that we rent from them has been broken since the July 2nd and it's not July 13th and we just found out that they aren't going to fix it or replace it. Great. According to the new owners Lighthouse Property Management, they don't have to comply with an old lease. We should be grandfathered in under our original lease. The most messed up thing about this problem is that they told us they were ordering a new one and had conformation it was on the way. Then told us it would be here Friday. Then told us Monday. Then informed us that the washer that they ordered us wasn't here and we weren't getting a new one. I feel so frustrated I could use my energy to power a small house. Why would they lie to use about something like that?
There are 100 stories I could talk to you about, but I feel as if I touched on all the basic issues that not only I but many of the other tenants here have experienced here at Tuscan Pointe/Southport Crossing. I advise you to go to any other place, because, even though it may cost more elsewhere, having that peace of mind is very worth the extra money spent on rent. read more
