Yelp 2023 Review #2:…read more Located in Museumplein is this locker/ luggage storage service. Which is convenient especially if you have a lot of stuff with you and you just want to be able to go to museums in the area (Van Gogh Museum, Rijksmuseum, Moco, Stedelijk Museum) hassle-free. No human contact. It's all automated. All you need is a credit card and follow the prompts on the screen. You will be assigned a locker number, set up a pin and choose the length of time you need the locker for (up to 24 hours) - I suggest taking a picture of your locker but you'll also get an email with your locker number and the PIN you selected. The locker is a good size - you can probably fit 5 big backpacks in there so, if you're traveling with a group, just share a locker to save money. In my case, I rented a locker because it was pouring all day in Amsterdam and I came straight from the airport. My backpack was getting soaked so a locker was necessary. I paid 9 Euros for 24 hours - I wasn't sure how many hours I needed it for. But you can definitely rent by the hour.

The first entrance can be found next to the entrance of the Van Gogh Museum. The second entrance is on Van Baerlestraat (Van Baerle Street) opposite the Concertgebouw (Royal Concert Hall), the 288 bus stop, and the stop for tram lines 3, 5, and 12. The entrances are housed in small glass buildings with Lockerpoint signs. Lifts are conveniently located at both entrances to ensure accessibility for all users.

I had a long layover and decided to check out the city instead of waiting at the airport. However,…read moreI was carrying my laptop and I did not want to bring it along while I toured the city. I read about the Drop & Go service online but wanted to ask the tourist information centre across from the Amsterdam Centraal Station to see my options. The tourist information centre said it's either the locker from the train station or the Drop & Go location, which is conveniently located just across the canal behind the tourist information centre, to the left of the church. The entrance can be hard to find because it's a basement location but they do have ramps for luggage to wheel down. The staff was super friendly. When I arrived, the girl staff let me take my time to transfer stuff from my backpack to the laptop bag before storing it for 5 euros. She also gave suggestions on what to visit based on my situation. When I returned 3 hours later, the girl was now accompanied by a guy staff. He heard that I'm heading to the airport and offered to check the flight information from Schiphol airport's website for me and print the boarding pass proactively without me asking for this service. It was his initiative which allowed me to find out that my gate was changed and which departure area would be closest to my gate. That alleviates my stress so I don't have to worry about finding departure information once I arrive at the airport. I would absolutely recommend this service to other tourists and I would personally use this service again if I need to store items for short term in Amsterdam.

I'm so glad Amsterdam has joined the Yelp family because I've been saving this review since June…read more Please note, my review pertains to the Keytours Panoramic Circle Tour which takes you on a bus tour of the city, a "tour" in the Coster Diamond Mill on Potterstraat, followed by some photo ops at one of Amsterdams oldest windmills. It started off great. We boarded a large, air-conditioned bus that took us through all of Amsterdam. The bus did not stop, but I still got some great photos from the bus. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable. The bus tour lasted approximately an hour. The second part of the tour, however, was a totally different story. We were taken to the Coster Diamond Mill. We were given a 5-minute overview on the diamond polishing and cutting process. Then our tour group was brought upstairs to a locked room.... In the locked room, three salespeople presented our group with "examples" of the diamonds produced at the factory. At first I thought this was just an intro to another diamond history lesson. But nope. It was a sales pitch. Those "examples" were for sale. The sales pitch continued for about 45 minutes. At that point, my husband and I asked to leave. Not only was I pissed off that I was being held captive in a locked room with an endless sales pitch, but I was also missing out on getting a REAL tour. The tour I PAID for. What the hell. I paid 130 euros for a bus tour and a 1-hour sales pitch on diamonds? What a huge disappointment. It's completely unfair for them to lure people in under the facade of a "tour", only to lock people in a room and try to sell them diamonds. Seriously?? We left and headed back to our hotel. I was SO disappointed. If you book a tour through Keytours, do NOT choose the Panoramic Circle Tour or any tour that involves a tour of the diamond mill. It's all a setup. It's fishy because Keytours is located next door to the diamond mill, so my guess is that EVERY tour involves the diamond mill. So beware.

When then boarded a ferry to head to Marken for a wood shoe demonstration. This is when the fun tour became not so fun. We boarded the bus to head to the windmills and found the temperature to be unbearable upstairs. By the time we got to the windmills the temperature had dropped to do somewhat bearable. The windmills was were cool but the 50 minutes allotted here was nowhere near enough time. When we got back to the bus the temperature was once again unbearable. This must have been the drivers first time on this bus since he seemed surprised by the temperature issues upstairs. We were fortunate that it was on in the mid 70's, I would hate see how hot the upstairs would get on an 80+ degree day. The only purposes of the glass ceiling on the second deck of the bus is to create a green house effect. There is nothing on the tour that you need to look up at to see. There is something about sitting in a raging hot bus that makes not so inclined to reach in my pocket for a tip.
