Great atmosphere, style, ambiance and space. Nice walk outside round the pond. A few more sofas inside and it would be even better.

This change has brought a breath of fresh air, the welcome is again warm and friendly, the food exceptional, gone is that massive menu of countless items which were only possible with the help of a freezer and microwave, never a good combination! Now the menu is manageable and cooked to order by a more than competent chef, for the first time in a long while we see a pass with heat lamps to keep the food hot a sign of a chef who cares about his creations enough to serve them hot and fresh, he does not disappoint either it really is exceptional food, hot, fresh and well presented but more to the point it tastes amazing. The price, we'll give it a try and you decide, we think it offers fantastic value for money and is run by a team of caring professionals so it is back on our hit list "must do" places our only worry is that too many will agree and we won't just drop in but have to book. Well done all at the Church House Inn for bringing this diamond its sparkle back.

This is possibly the oldest inn in England, dating from 1028, however it started as a hostel to house the masons who were building the church next door. The menu is excellent and the food has never let us down. The menu is suplemented by an enormous daily specials board with the accent on fish and game. There is a good choice of real ales and some of the other fizzy stuff for people who have lost their sense of taste. The wine list is extensive and contains some really good, reasonably-priced stuff. As can be imagined in view of the age of the building, the inn has a great traditional feel. The latest landlord is a clone of his predecessors in that his welcome is warm and his patience long well Judi always changes her mind at the last minute! So on your next visit to Devon, set your satnav to this lovely old inn. It's popular, though, so I would recommend that you book.

It was very welcoming and clean with all new bathrooms with cozy robes, complimentary beer, fizzy water, biscuits, and we enjoyed some great food. Breakfast was included. Also very dog friendly! I've stopped off for a snack or a quick drink a couple of times, and it's always really impressed me, and the lunch my parents and I had recently ranks as one of the best pub dinners the Andrews family can remember. Their crab sandwiches were fresh, as were the fish in their delicious creamy leek fish stew, while the ploughmans was huge. Desserts of chocolate and pecan brownie and banana fritters with toffee sauce were gobbled up. Ok, it's not cheap for a Devon pub, but the food is worth every penny - there was hardly anything on the menu I didn't want to scoff down. The pub itself is a charming sprawl of wooden rooms, and a small seating area out the front. It's homely and although the staff run a slick operation, they're still friendly and helpful. The pub was recently taken over by St Austell Brewery, so there's a good range of their beers, plus a couple of guest ales. This includes one local beer brewed in Branscombe. It's quaint, delicious, comfy and sits in one of the most stunning areas of the Devon coast. It is, quite simply, a perfect pub.

Desperate for a room after being turned away elsewhere I was delighted to be provided for. Not only was this delightful little inn a wonderfully decorated oasis and a startling surprise considering the patriotic flags hanging outside, but the staff were friendly and the place had a lovely buzz. From the outside you'd be amazed by the interior, frankly it looks a little rough but this is what makes it a magical place for the locals. The food looked fabulous and was well priced. Being a little pooped, I headed straight to my room to sleep and dry out a sopping wet tent. In the morning I had a fine breakfast with a superbly poached egg, a rarity in the modern British breakfast. There was a great array of real ales, I tasted the lot and every one was well looked after and good tasting. As an added bonus the delightful landlady allowed me to keep my room until the train arrived that evening. I'll not forget this place, and due to the friendliness and service I will always carry it in my heart. Should I ever find myself in the area again, I'll be sure to make a return visit.

It is a ok looking building and the decor inside is tasteful, it also very clean and tidy and well presented. The food is probably slightly better then you would expect from a pub, it is more a restaurant I feel then a pub. The food is lovely, it has a very nice upmarket menu which is reasonably priced, with some amazing deserts to make your mouth water. The pub comes with it's own talking parrot which is in a cage in the corner, which can be highly amusing. Downstairs there is a private room that can be hired for Functions, they regularly have good bands playing there including recently The Neil Diamond Tribute Band. They also do special promotions on there menu called the early bird where a selection of the menu is discounted if you eat before a certain time, so there truly is a meal there for every price range. A really lovely evening spent there.
