What a wonderful way to start the day! Since the moment we sat down we were greeted with a big smile and all the best energy. Not only is the service here amazing, but so is the food! We had the green chilaquiles with chicken/egg and the Breakfast burrito. We also made one of our coffees a continental breakfast so we could also try the bread and fruit, and it did not disappoint! I was sitting down in one of the tables next to the bar, and coatis just kept going up and down a tree and into the roof with their little tippy tappies! What a fantastic place and very recommended! Came here for lunch after scuba diving. We were starving and would have eaten anything, so we're happy that the food here is delicious and plentiful. As someone who has to eat gluten-free, I appreciated that the menu marked which items came with flour tortillas and which had corn tortillas. All were clearly fresh, as we're all the ingredients. Great service, and loved sitting under the huge palapa with fans. Great atmosphere and very pleasant on a hot day. Parking is available in a lot nearby. Be sure to have the restaurant staff stamp your parking ticket to reduce the cost of parking from 40 pesos to 20 pesos. read more

We ate here twice while in Akumal. Once for lunch and once for breakfast. Both meals were great. For our lunch we started with delicious onion rings. They were huge and came with a good dipping sauces. We all ordered something different for our meal. I had a good hamburger and fries, my wife a Cobb salad, and others the quesadilla. Served with good cold beer. Our server was very good. For breakfast we had a nice strong coffee with a pineapple and orange glass of juice. I had the eggs, bacon, and potatoes. It was all good. The place is open air with a nice gift shop that sells some nice glassware. They have a very extensive menu. read more

We stopped the first time at Turtle Bay on our way home from eating at Imelda 's close by. We were just kind of checking out the area and decided to sit down and have a piña colada and a margarita. First off, the drinks were on happy hour, so they were essentially the same price as the Buena Vida happy hour, you can read my review of them as well. We were blown away by the quality of the drinks at Turtle Bay. Well made, flavorful and you could tell there was a good kick to them. My wife's standard "how good is this place" check is to order a cup of the tortilla soup. Wow, they knocked it out of the park. We came back the next day for happy hour again, again the drinks were great and this time we went into a little room where they sell desserts to go, glassware and ice cream. We took home some of their flan and some mango cake both of which were delicious. We then decided to come back a third time with some friends for dinner. Turtle Bay didn't disappoint. The drinks, food and service were all on point. After dinner we ordered more desserts to take with us and our friends bought some of the glassware to take back home. The ambiance is nice, it's an open air, palapa roof style eating experience, very typical for the area. This is a very solid option for meals and drinks in the Akumal area. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and I will be back. read more

Ok (mostly tourist-style) food, at ok (also tourist-style) prices, this joint knows who it's customers are. Yep. That said, they do a fair job on most things, so no serious red flags. Avoid the mocha (they do not use a good chocolate, in the land of chocolate, sadly) but the espresso is respectable. The cook is really good at eggs, but the burrito I had was bland, and served with salsa from a jar. The juice program is solid; give the gecko juice a try! It's kind of like a Mexican Denny's. Recommended if you are stuck in the playa or need to take some less adventurous relatives out for brunch. read more

We stayed at the Iguana condos in Akumal and found this gem on yelp and researching what was around in our cove. Love the decor of this place, cute tiki hut feel with vibrant colors. We had the amazing crab cakes, best I have ever had. Kids had the huge flat bread pizza, which was delicious. We tried the thai chicken tacos, which were fantastic as well. The drinks come in some awesome glassware, which we ended up buying a set to take back home. Cute shot glasses with turtles at the bottom of it. Cute decor around the area and artwork. Ice cream of course for dessert was amazing as well. We came back the next day for breakfast before our fishing trip across the way. The skillets are awesome. Bottom line everything here was outstanding, we are from Vegas so we love when we find a place with great food and great service Everyone super friendly and helpful. Great place for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert. Great baked goods (muffins, scones, bread) start your day off right. They also have scrambles, eggs, pancakes, and breakfast burritos. Lunch is great too. We tried several kinds of tacos, and liked the al pastor the best. The tortilla soup was amazing! We didn't go for dinner, but they have a great looking menu. Their ice cream is super delicious, and they have a number of really interesting flavors with homemade cones. Prices are not cheap, but it's totally reasonable for Akumal. And the takeaway banana/chocó chip muffins are killer too. I would eat breakfast here everyday, no problem. Dinner - on the other hand is a different story. This place is as very good! You have to pay for parking but if you get your ticket stamped you get a discount. You will need pesos or US dollars. We really enjoyed the food and drinks. We had tuna tacos and coconut shrimp tacos. My favorite were the tuna. And the guacamole that came with it was delicious! We also enjoyed the dessert. We had coconut ice cream and the chocolate peanut butter cheese cake, both were great. The atmosphere was nice. We would have ate here more if we were in the area longer. read more

Stumbled into this spot after making the trek across the highway from our resort and damn I'm glad we did. The place has the vibe and "home"iness of having a casual meal in the bungalow on someone's back porch, with decor to match. We started off with a delicious plate of guac, and enjoyed the cheap drinks for rounds and rounds. When we finally got to our proper meal, I was totally floored by the freshness and bounty of the amazing authentic Mexican seafood the place had to serve (see the pics I uploaded for verification). Explora an awesome Torta!!!! Not only can you swim with sea turtles in Akumal, you can have a great breakfast at Turtle Bay. What a great find. All the food is prepared with an unexpected generous portion of incredible mix of breakfast classics and authentic Mexican wonders such and their version of Huevos Rancheros, their "Breakfast Sandwich" which something short of breakfast sandwich heaven. As always, I will focus on setting the appropriate expectations for the ranking, this place is nice , non-divey and open "hut" like eating atmosphere. They do have a small indoor sitting area, but I would recommend the hut area bearing in mind the out door temperatures. Ifs good for kids, friends and hangovers...which is one of the menu options... see the menu. The service, like all the restaurants and shops in Akumal was very customer focused and simply fantastic. The owner is from the US and resides in the corner watching over everything... I found the food to be chef level quality, and am sad I did not get to try out the dinner menu. The food serfor price point was also reasonable... and it was simply a nice fun place to eat. ...and it was nestled in the cool little Akumal shops area and an easy walking distance to the Lol-Ha beach area, grocery stores and convenience stores if you need to replenish any items at your rental. read more

Breakfast is better. More like 3 star level with good baked goods as expected. Lunch recently was fairly bad with a fully, previously frozen meal presented. Shrimp tacos were bland and rubbery, tuna tostada was just ok, Mexican street corn was still cold in spots even with char on it from the grill. Not a great experience. Also our kids juices came out in 60-90 seconds and were definitely poured out of a premixed container. Skip lunch, dinner and stay to breakfast. But this place needs to get back to cooking their food vs warming it up. read more
