Absolutely unacceptable customer service. We arrived at 5:20 pm, a full 40 minutes before their clearly posted 6:00 pm closing time, and were turned away. The woman working told us they take their "last walk-in at 5:30 pm," then realized the time... and still offered no apology. This was our only night in Scottsdale and our last night in Arizona before flying home the next morning. I had literally just discovered this place earlier that day and was excited to stop in--only to be dismissed like we were an inconvenience rather than paying customers. Honestly, the experience gave major Pretty Woman vibes--being turned away in a way that felt judgmental and unwelcoming. If you don't want customers coming in during your posted business hours, then change your hours. Don't make people feel foolish for trying to support your business. We happily took our money elsewhere, Rancher Hat Bar , but this experience ensured we won't be back--and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone visiting Scottsdale. read more

You can always tell a lot about a business by how they treat their customers when they enter the store. I am visiting from out of town and was looking forward to going to this hat bar and customizing my hat. I walked in, and the woman at the counter, who was gluing something onto a hat with another woman (a customer in front of her), looked up at me, made eye contact, and didn't greet me at all. I was interested though, because like I said, I did my research and was excited about this place, even though I shouldn't have been. I decided to look around at the hats and accessories, not knowing how to even start, and finally, after 10 minutes, another woman came out and asked if I needed help. I said yes, I was looking at a hat, and before I could ask about the process she told me the hat was $179 and that all hats start at this price point and go up. (Mind you, I was in leggings, a T-shirt, and Nike Vomeros, pretty much dressed like every other woman in Scottsdale.) As I was trying to ask questions, the woman was pretty rude. She didn't want to waste her time with me, and I could tell. So instead, I put the hat back, asked if they had a business card, and she said no, only Instagram, but informed me that they are doing free branding on Black Friday, though the hats are not on sale. This place was not interested in my business. I was profiled from the moment I walked into the store. The assumption was that I didn't have money to spend or that they didn't need my money. I've never actually encountered this type of service in my life; I had only heard stories, but once you experience it, you recognize the "why." I had just spent $1,000 at the Pendleton store and another $1,000 at the mall. I was ready to drop cash. I have a collection of hats from all over the world, mostly Europe, for the quality of rabbit. I was looking forward to getting my cowgirl look going. My husband was with me and signaled for me to leave. The general demeanor of that shop was rude. I know if I looked different, they wouldn't have treated me that way. I could feel it. After we left, I was visibly sad, so my husband looked up hat bars and found another store, a completely different brand and owner. They were kind when I entered and excited to help, and they were busy. My advice is that if you are looking for a genuinely enjoyable experience, go elsewhere. There are other hat bars with warm, welcoming environments. Although Turquoise has more accessories and offerings, I'm glad I didn't spend my money here. This is the most disappointed I've been on a vacation, but it is a reminder for businesses not to judge books by their covers. Even though my inclination is to say much more, I'll end this review here. Bad customer service, rude temperament, lack of genuine joy. read more

We did a walk in on Sunday afternoon - perfect timing because it was busy as we were checking out. Turquoise Candy Hat Bar is a 10/10 and I'm so happy I found this spot. Thankfully they were advertised on Instagram and knowing I'd be shopping in Scottsdale downtown, I had to make a stop. I saw that they customize and design trucker hats and cowboy hats which looked so fun and personable. I raved about this place to my friends based on what I saw online and I'm even happier to report that it's just as amazing in person. Walking inside the shop is super cute and girly. It's a western Barbie's dreamland. The hats and designs were all laid out nicely throughout the store so that you could get some inspiration and see all of the colored options. This is definitely the perfect shop for a girls day and my girlfriend's had so much fun helping me customize my hat. I decided to go with the trucker hat look as it's more practical to me and I really loved all of the cool decals and designs. Seemed like the more affordable option and is going to be perfect for my upcoming country and rock n roll festivals. Faith was the staff who helped me and walked me through the process. She was so nice and patient!!! I'm a type A personality, I am organized and structured which doesn't fair well when you have to be creative and design something with 100 options to choose from lol. I was having total mental overload and she was the perfect nicest staff to help me. She assured me just to put down patches I liked and we would figure it out. Thankfully I had my friends too who gave great advice and made sure to help me. Faith laid out the patches in the most perfect way and also talked me off the ledge when I was trying to overdo the hat lol. She clearly cares about you having a badass hat more than just agreeing and trying to push more of a sale by me trying to overload the design. I'm so glad she guided me and was helpful throughout the process. She made my experience A+ and once the pressed my hat it was literal perfect! A Rock N Roll badass trucker hat 100%. Added some cool metal chains to the front and it was good to go. She rang me up and was lovely. The customer service here is stellar and the quality of goods and uniqueness of a store like this makes it the perfect place to get a keepsake from your time here in Scottsdale. Made an impromptu appointment for custom Trucker hats on a trip in town after seeing multiple (very targeted) Instagram ads. We are so glad we did as we had a wonderful experience! After combing through multitudes of drawers containing all kinds of patches, decorations, and other items we selected a large handful of things we liked. The girls were so patient as we tried to design our hats and come up with a design we liked. They came out wonderful and we had such a great time! With that being said, this activity was not cheap and we spent nearly $80 on each hat. The hats came out super cute, but could easily be done at home for significantly cheaper. If there was an option for a 10 star review, this place would be more than deserving! I brought my mom here on a recent trip to AZ and what I thought would be a simple shopping stop ended up being an amazing experience. Upon entering the store, we were greeted by Faith who gave us the run down of how everything works. First, we picked our perfect fit hats, then we picked out all of the accessories that spoke to us, then Faith worked her magic putting it all together into a professional custom hat. I didn't know how it would all come together, but Faith has some serious skills! Don't doubt her, just trust her vision and you'll be pleasantly surprised. For my PoC/ ethnic hair shoppers, note that the hats are SATIN LINED!!! I could not believe that I didn't see this marketed anywhere in advance. The lining is not already in the hats, but is added at the end of the process when the hat is being customized. This place is amazing! Super cute layout with tons of selections from basic hat colors to super bright colors. I already knew I was going for bright! Not gonna lie, this experience can be overwhelming from choosing the right hat to the best adornments but a hat stylist helped guide me every step of the way. I was excited to be able to incorporate butterflies into my hat since I them so much! This experience was priceless and worth every penny I spent. Don't worry! You can also tell them your budget and they will work to ensure you leave with a hat. I had the most wonderful experience at Turquoise. I walked in with my friend fully intending to just look at the hats and not buy anything (famous last words LOL), and from the moment we stepped inside, the ladies were all so welcoming and kind. They checked in to see if we needed anything, answered questions, and gave us space without ever being pushy. Of course, I couldn't resist how adorable the cowboy hats and accessories were, so my friend ended up helping me create one. The sweetheart who helped me design my hat turned out to be the owner herself, and she could not have been kinder or more helpful. I shared my budget with her, and she thoughtfully recommended beautiful accessories that stayed within it, never once trying to upsell me or pressure me into adding more. I am beyond happy with how my custom cowboy hat turned out!!! After we left, my friend and I were stopped on the corner by a group of drunk girls and guys. One of the girls acted overly excited and asked where I got my hat. I happily told her I'd just had it made at Turquoise, only for the entire group to burst out laughing. They all proceeded to say that "Rancher Hat Bar was so much better" and that I'd "eventually have to go there to get my hat fixed." The main girl who approached me initially said she "oversees the Rancher location in Scottsdale" and I made a mistake going to Turquoise instead of Rancher. Then they all laughed again and ran off. My friend and I literally stood there in shock. We just witnessed a full-on Regina George from Mean Girls moment. It was so gross. Needless to say, I am incredibly grateful I DID NOT go to Rancher. I absolutely loved my experience at Turquoise from the warmth, professionalism, and integrity, to the beautiful craftsmanship. I'm from iut iut town and have been really liking foward it to visiting this place. Came in looking for a properly fitting hat and felt like the only goal was to make a sale, not actually help. The hat was flopping side to side on my head, and when I said it didn't fit right, the employee borderline argued with me, insisting I shouldn't go smaller because it "wouldn't fit right." She told me the flopping didn't matter, refused to measure my head at all, and pushed an uncomfortable spacer instead clearly trying to sell the hat whether it fit or not. I went across the street to Mavericks' hat bar afterward, and they actually took the time to find me a hat that fit correctly and wasn't flopping all over the place. First of all, I am floored that this place only has 3 reviews. It is INCREDIBLE! I did not plan to get a cowgirl hat today because 1) I am not a real cowgirl and 2) I thought it would be too expensive. I gave it a shot because my friend wanted to just peek inside. It was such an amazing experience from the moment we walked in that I could not help myself! I was just looking at the hat wall like a normal shopper and then I fell into this amazing time warp and ended up with the most beautiful hat on my head 45 minutes later. Jokes aside, they were so helpful and kind and walked us through every single step to make the hat the best it could be. When one of the girls wrote my favorite song lyric, freehand, on my hat I literally got goosebumps when she gave it to me. I LOOOOOOVE it so much!! This is not a cheap experience by any means but it was so fun and special I truly think it was worth every penny. I will never forget it. What a treat. I wish I was a real cowgirl so I could make even more and actually have a real use for them. Oh! And stop by the boutique they own next to the shop. Such cute clothes.
