I visited Xtylo Beauty College, and I was really impressed! This place is a cosmetology school, so…read moreall services are done by students. Which means everything is super affordable. Just keep in mind that they're still learning, but they're closely supervised. When I went, it was pretty packed (which says a lot about how popular it is). I got a scalp treatment and a haircut, and my student stylist, Shey, was amazing. She was confident, careful, and made me feel completely at ease throughout the process. I left feeling relaxed and with noticeably healthier looking hair.

I contacted XTYLO Beauty and Barber College because I was seriously interested in learning more…read moreabout their nail technology and esthetics programs. I called both the Tolleson and Phoenix locations simply asking for a rough estimate or general range for tuition so I could determine whether the program was within my budget before driving approximately 30 minutes to the school. I was told repeatedly that they would not provide any tuition information, even a ballpark estimate, unless I came in person, completed a tour, sat through a presentation, and received a packet afterward. I explained respectfully that I already have a general idea of my grant and scholarship eligibility and simply wanted to avoid wasting both my time and theirs if the program was outside of my budget. They still refused to provide any pricing information or even basic program details over the phone. What made the experience worse was the customer service. During one call, I was hung up on while I was still trying to ask a question. When I called back and asked to speak with a manager, I was initially told the manager had already left for the day. I was also given difficulty when asking for the manager's name. When I called back again shortly afterward, I was suddenly able to speak with a manager, which made the previous information I was given feel inconsistent and unprofessional. When I finally spoke with management, I again tried to explain why refusing to provide even a general tuition range felt uncomfortable and unnecessarily high-pressure. I was met with the same repeated response that it was simply "policy" and that they could not provide information unless I came in person. There was very little effort to address my actual concern or explain why the school requires potential students to go through an entire in-person presentation before receiving basic pricing information. For me, tuition transparency is extremely important when considering a school. Requiring prospective students to travel to the campus, complete a tour, and sit through a presentation before being told what the program may cost felt more like a sales process than an educational consultation. The lack of transparency, inconsistent information, poor phone etiquette, and overall customer service experience ultimately made me decide that this is not a school I would feel comfortable attending. I understand that schools have policies, but prospective students should be able to receive basic information such as tuition ranges without being pressured into an in-person appointment first. I hope the school reconsiders this policy and improves how potential students are treated when they call for information.

What should have been an exciting time of learning and professional growth instead became an experience filled with anxiety, humiliation, and disappointment. Rather than feeling supported while pursuing an education I paid thousands of dollars for, I often felt disrespected, unheard, and emotionally drained. Throughout my time at the school, I experienced what I believed to be sexual harassment, bullying, intimidation, and repeated unprofessional behavior from individuals who were supposed to teach and mentor students. Instead of looking forward to class, I often arrived feeling anxious because I never knew what comments or treatment I would face. One instructor in particular, Mr. Curtis, repeatedly made comments that I found deeply offensive and inappropriate. He made misogynistic remarks, commented on my body, and even asked me if I was a "transvestite." Those comments were humiliating, degrading, and completely unacceptable from someone in a position of authority. No student should have to endure that while trying to complete their education. What made the situation even more disappointing was how my complaint was handled. When I reported Mr. Curtis's conduct, I did not feel there was any urgency to remove him from my learning environment or adequately address my concerns. From my perspective, the seriousness of my complaint was minimized. I was left with the impression that protecting a valued instructor mattered more than protecting a student who had reported sexual harassment. My family ultimately felt it was necessary to mention seeking legal counsel before meaningful action was taken. Only after that was Mr. Curtis moved from the classroom I was assigned to, allowing me to continue my education without being forced to sit in class with someone whose conduct had made me feel uncomfortable. Students should never have to mention legal action simply to receive a safe learning environment. As part of the resolution, Mr. Curtis and I were instructed to have absolutely no contact with one another. We were not to communicate, speak about one another to other people, or intentionally be around one another. Despite that directive, I experienced multiple situations where I believed those boundaries were not respected. I perceived repeated attempts to intimidate me, including an occasion where I felt he intentionally prevented me from exiting an elevator. I also became aware that he continued discussing me with others despite the expectation that neither of us would do so. I chose not to continue reporting every incident because I had already lost confidence that additional complaints would result in meaningful action. Instead, I focused on finishing my education and graduating, even though I continued to feel uncomfortable. No student should ever feel that remaining silent is the safest option. Beyond my own experiences, I witnessed an environment where students were publicly criticized in front of clients, belittled by instructors, and expected to tolerate disrespect from guests without adequate support. Rather than building confidence, the atmosphere often felt intimidating and discouraging. Although the school promotes a zero-tolerance policy for bullying and unprofessional conduct, that was not the environment I experienced. I also do not believe I received the quality of education I was promised. There were times when students lacked supplies, consistent instruction, and adequate guidance. Students invest significant amounts of money with the expectation of receiving a professional education in a respectful and supportive environment. That was not my experience. Looking back, what hurts the most is not only what happened but how the school responded after I found the courage to report it. I left feeling that my concerns were treated as an inconvenience rather than something deserving of serious attention. A school should protect its students, enforce its own policies consistently, and hold everyone to the same professional standards regardless of their position. While I am proud to have completed the program and graduated despite these challenges, I cannot recommend Paul Mitchell based on my personal experience. I sincerely hope the school takes a hard look at its culture, how student complaints are handled, and the accountability expected of instructors and administrators so future students can learn in an environment where they feel respected, supported, safe, and heard.

The students all looked occupied and kept the space clean. the teachers were doing hands-on work and were very nice. Rey was AMAZING! She really heard what I wanted my haircut to be and took extra care from the wash to the final product. She wasn't too talkative, but did answer all my questions and made me feel relaxed. She was focused and seemed to care. I enjoyed my service and the ease! Thank you Rey! I hope others will give student learning services a chance, it's great for them and even better for your wallet! She always answered my questions and was great at educating. It was specifically financial aid and students whom were the reason i dropped this school. The girls in this school are absolutely draining, every single day there was drama (which was expected in a school of 99% girls) but it wasn't just the students, the teachers, the staff- literally everyone always having drama to talk about. And coming from someone who had a bad high school experience, it just felt like i was back except it was women of all ages. Trying to stay motivated to come to school was a struggle when i hear all the other girls complaining and whinnying about coming to a school THEY signed up for. They were never pleased with anything. Any activities the staff wanted to do (although were never coordinated correctly EVER) the students just complain. I also joined October of 2025 , my first day was i guess mid way semester and was most confusing as ever. no one told me what to do, where anything was, where to go. there was no guidance from anyone and it was exhausting having to ask where everything was every 5 minutes. no one told me about procedure cards, remaking paper or physical tests or other side work until i picked up on it about a month in and had to ask myself. Finally, when i had enough of this i dropped January of this year, i went through about 5 different people just to figure out who i could get dropped through. explained to why to all of them (til this day had no clue why i had to do that) then finally reached "Financial Aid" Katie. she told me about the fees and what so, i agreed. Obviously still had to pay them some amount of money but i was not expecting to pay them almost $4K for the 4 months i came to class. This was not the cherry on top. I look into my fafsa account and see I owe TSAOB $2k ON TOP of the $4k. Me and my mom are panicking thinking they are trying to take even more money from us, not putting the $4k into the system. I try calling the school, no one answers. I text Katie asking for a email copy of receipt, (image 1) she leaves me on seen. mind you i just left her office that day. I keep trying to call the company, the school but im not getting answers from anyone for about a week. I call their office they say Katie will get back to me in the next day, two weeks go by i call again, they say she will get back to me, another week goes by. I decided to go TO the school with my mom. We have a short discussion with katie and she offers to have a "phone call"??. We obviously say no because this is an in person discussion. She says she will email my ledger and text me to set an appointment. going onto (image 2) I once again have to message this lady because me and my mom are stressing thinking they stole our money. Ms.Katie does not send my ledger till later that week and ONLY sent it because my mom called the office and told her to get back in touch or else we would go above them. At last me and my mom can compare documents JUST TO FIND OUT they were not stealing money. Katie offered to set an appointment and to this day has still not responded. This school worried me and my mother for three months thinking they just wanted more money. If only Ms.Katie had sent me my recipes the first time we asked none of this stress would've happened. I would've never attended this school if i knew all of this would happen. But then again, this is my experience. (Allegedly.)
