The street parking nearby is free, and there are bike racks for anyone that needs them. The neighbors in that area were always very kind to me, but it's also important to be aware of their families and privacy. It's not a place for large group gatherings or non-residents to host events. There are water fountains, waste disposal, and lots of seating, but there are not picnic tables or public restrooms. It's a beautiful park and I always make it a stop on my walks!

I totally loved this park, and will definitely come back again. We just moved from Hawaii, so this is a step up from what we are used to. I'm going to love living here!

We weren't exactly sure where we were to meet in the park, not being from the area so we naively thought we'd park and walk to avoid the traffic and the admission. Upon walking in we realized quickly how difficult that would be. This park is massive at almost 800 acres and has sooo much. It includes (but probably isn't limited to) - a baseball field, dog park, grills for picnics and bbqing, streams, historic houses, nature, biking, playgrounds and more. There are even hiking trails and paddle boats, though I didn't see them. The price to enter the park is $3 and $5 for out of state but because we were attending a memorial the lady was nice only charged us the $3. You could easily spend all day here on a nice day. The one thing about this park that was a problem is getting in. The front entrance line backs up quickly and it spills out into the street. The street is like 4 lanes with steady traffic, so if you're coming from the other direction making a left over the 2 lanes it gets a bit crazy. I'd think a traffic person or park personnel would help guide the traffic a bit. A better question is why isn't the back gate open? That might lessen the traffic. Beyond that though, it's nice big park with just about everything it seems, and for an OK deal.

"A walk in the park, there will be no bother" (Cowboy…read moreJunkies) You'll find this little patch of urban green between the Springfield Armory, TAP Sports Bar, the MGM Springfield courtyard, and the back of the Red Rose restaurant. It was renovated with MGM money when they rebuilt a chunk of downtown for their magnificent casino/hotel/shopping/movie theater complex. We visited the park yesterday on the walk back from lunch at the Red Rose. We saw a wrought iron gate that leads to a beautifully manicured spot of lighted walkways, green grass, pretty yellow and purple flowers, and a circular red stone base supporting a large abstract sculpture. The 2022 sculpture is titled "Dream Catcher" and was constructed of a painted oak tree and stainless steel rods and spheres. It's quite striking! The park is a welcome urban oasis and likely a favorite spot to sulk and self reflect after blowing a load of cash at the casino.

Right on a main road through east longmeadow, close to shopping, restaurants, and the library. They've got a baseball field, plenty of space to run, a large covered picnic site for events, and other picnic tables scattered around the park. They are, however, best known for their beautiful geese who reside there. Now you're not supposed to feed them bread, but who listens to that? The geese come right up to you (if you're feeding them) but be careful- some may nip if you put your hand in too far! The playground is fairly new and one of the best ones around. They've got swings, a rock wall, and a bunch of other structures. The kids never fail to have a great time. There's a super cute gazebo there and even a pretty clean portapotty. I definitely highly recommend this park! Also, there's plenty of parking.

Blue heron right after you enter from the south terminus. Lots of turtles basking. Eagles (adult and 2 juvies) visible in their nest, with another adult high above about 50 yds north. Another uge (we don't pronounce the "h" where I'm from) blue heron about 7/10ths of a mile from the start. Ducks, geese, hawk. Haven't seen a rabbit yet this year. My theory is that overcutting on the bank of the canal-side has caused rabbits to change their habits (seriously). No place to hide from predators. Everyone friendly...strollers, fishermen, bicyclists.... I tried to make a video of the song, "I was strolling thru the park one day, in the very merry month of May...". Lucky for the reader / listener that my phone was having memory issues. Always a 5 star!

"Always wanting to find your way True to yourself you've…read moregot to stay Walk in a straight line Walking in a straight line" (Crosby, Stills and Nash) We accessed the Windsor Locks Canal Trail at Canal Street in Suffield, but I believe you can also access it in Windsor Locks. After we parked, we turned right onto the trail and basically walked away from downtown Windsor Locks. The trail is straight and flat, which was great. No tree roots, no rocks, no tree branches or debris, no dog poop, and very few bicyclists. It's a super easy low impact walk just perfect for out of shape Yelpers like yours truly. The path threads the needle between the Connecticut River on the right and the old Windsor Locks Canal on the left. We saw a few interesting things along the way, an Amtrak train zipping along on the left, a few signs telling us we were in a Bald Eagle preserve, and a fallen tree in the canal which seemed to be home to two dozen ducks. We never did get a full on view of the Connecticut River, so either we didn't walk far enough, or we should have made a left instead of a right onto the trail?

Looks like HVAC companies taking over the parking lot for work, one dude working out of his van was shirtless with full bear belly on display. I felt uncomfortable & left quickly. There's no park bench or anything like that along the river. The West entrance is the worst, smallest lot only fits 3 cars, long walking path to the river that's super narrow, some times only a foot wide & feels creepy, I'd avoid. The east entrance is very roomy, easily park 10 cars there with walking path 12 feet wide. However, it's very far to the river, at least half a mile walk. The 4th entrance is on Bayleys, I couldn't even find the parking lot, lol, nothing there.

A nice little secluded riverside scenic park. There are three trails, two of which are pretty…read moreovergrown once you get into the summer season. One follows along the river, one crosses the river into the woods, and the third goes up a small hill. They're all three quiet and surrounded by greenery and a pleasant, although not particularly long, walk. There's also parking for a few cars at the end of the road leading up to the trails.
