This is a very large airport lounge. There are large number of seats and couches located in various theme rooms throughout the lounge.
The main thing about this lounge is that the food here is good. They actually have chefs preparing all the various dishes. There are several stations offering different culinary delights from around the world. You really have a great choice about what you choose to eat.
The one thing that I find curious, however, is that the young people who are the baristas, preparing your lattes, cappuccinos, and the like, are also the people who walk around the facility cleaning up the tables. Meaning, I wonder how clean this facility's food preparation actually is?
The main problem I find with this lounge is that a lot of people do things like take their shoes off and stick their dirty bare feet on chairs, lay their heads on the various small couches, go to sleep, and slobber. So, I wonder just how clean this place really is?
I also want to talk a little bit bit about the layover situation at this lounge. As this lounge is operated by Turkish Airlines, and as the lounge and the airline are linked, thus, I believe, I can discuss them simultaneously.
As anyone who has ever travel via Turkish Airlines understands, they tend to do these very long layovers at their hub in İstanbul. If you're traveling from locations throughout Europe and the Middle East, you may be presented with a very long layover. For example, I recently flew in from Oslo and I had a multi-hour, nigh-time, layover. So, I couldn't go into the city or anything during that extended time period. The airline promises that they will give their business class layover customers a suite for sleeping, but in the fine print, you find that those suites are only available for people who are laying over between four and seven hours. If your layover is any longer than that, like mine was, forget about it. You're not gonna get any place to lay your head. Meaning, you gotta stay awake, or do like the other people do and sleep on those dirty chairs or couches for hours upon hours.
The other side of the situation is the Turkish airlines also promises it's business class customers that if you have a long layover they will give you a hotel room to stay at. The issue is, however, that only occurs when your layover is more than twenty hours. So again, if you fall somewhere in between, like I did, there's no place for you to sleep, as this lounge was not designed for a comfortable nights rest.
I'm certainly not the only one dealing with the situation. There are people sleeping all over the place in this lounge. But, if you're promising something, or at least given the insinuation that some sort of accommodations are promised, I believe the airlines should really follow through with those promises and not attach all kinds of time sensitive caveats.
Overall, however, it is a very nice lounge. The food here is very good, they have a lot of drinks, and the overall atmosphere of the lounge is very nice. read more
