We moved to Seattle early this year (2023). We love nice rugs and went searching. We found Turabi online and decided to go see what they had to offer. My wife and I were not disappointed! Not only do they house hundreds -- if not thousands -- of beautiful rugs, they have INCREDIBLE people working there. We worked most directly with Ahmet and he is such a great person! He showed us so many rugs, which is a lot of time and effort, without batting an eye. He was patient and encouraged us to take our time. He knew the inventory inside and out; where the rugs originated, what they were made from, how they were made, etc. Finally, after a couple visits, we purchased two rugs - dining room and living room rugs. I'd have to say that our favorite part was eating flat bread with Ahmet. We are grateful he wanted to share with us. We did not take that gesture for granted! On top of all that, we recently discovered our dog urinated on one of the rugs. We immediately got in touch with Turabi and they were so helpful with getting it cleaned. They first tried to see if it was something we could clean at home, but then decided it was something they should handle because of the yellow. Turabi is a place we will continue to recommend to friends and family, and anytime we are in the market for a new rug or runner, they will be the only place we go. I had a guest dog chew off the corner of a very nice Persian rug and was pretty upset. The rug repair & cleaning business where I initially left the rug (which also has a good reputation) felt it was beyond their capabilities and, with my permission, sent the rug to Turabi Rug Gallery. The day I went to pick up the rug I was concerned as to what the repair would look like. I couldn't have been more pleased. If it hadn't been pointed out I'm not sure I could tell which corner was repaired. Keep in mind, this was not just a solid one-color patch, but a fairly intricate design. I can't say enough good things. Turabi is a gentleman and an artist, or maybe a magician. Either way, while I hope I never need another repair, if I do, I'm going back to Turabi. Updated review Wow! Almost 10 years later, I have more good news to share about the wonderful experience of purchasing rugs from Turabi. We were recently updating our home and headed in a little bit more of a transitional/modern style vs. traditional. Turabi has a HUGE selection of contemporary rugs, and they even have the ability to assist in custom design and order if their vast floor selection doesn't have the perfect rug. They still have many traditional and antique rugs as well, and they have a great eye for bringing in current and classic colors. Once again I spent hours in the beautiful store in Pioneer Square while they painstakingly pulled out rugs, explained the country of origin and materials and processes used. They were also honest with me about durability and helped me understand maintenance and upkeep, which was important to me with kids and dogs. I was also encouraged to step on/walk on/ stand on the rugs barefoot to feel which were softer because we are a no-shoe house. Once we got it narrowed down, they brought a few to the house to see it in our space. We narrowed down further with their great counsel and then I was able to live with a couple of rugs in my space for a few days to see how it changed with the light, how it felt etc. The rug we loved the most was going to be too large and cover our fireplace hearth. But Turabi's team had no problem taking exact measurements, cutting a notch around the hearth, and putting a new edge on the rug. You would never know. It is stunning and we get compliments every time someone walks into our front door. Their exceptional service and high quality will always make me a repeat customer. I look forward to working with them again. 5.0 star rating 6/9/2010 Previous review: I would never go anywhere else for a fine carpet. Their level of service and patience is impeccable. They came to my house, looked at the room I wanted the rug for and came back with loads of choices. Do you know how heavy rugs are to haul around? We did this multiple times and they never once showed any signs of impatience or frustration with the hard time I had making a decision. I have 2 kids and a dog, and they let me 'test drive' several rugs at a time so I could see them in different light and live with them in order to help me make my decision. They brought rugs in from both their Phinney and Pioneer Square locations. I loved working with them and my family enjoyed them too. My daughter who was 3 at the time affectionately named Turabi "Robby" and would ask if he was coming over to see her each night. After our transaction was complete, I was assured that I could trade the rug out if we moved or changed paint colors. Read the good reviews here and decided this was the place to find a rug that would really tie our living room together. Excellent decision. Turabi himself helped us. He took the time to show us literally every rug in his gallery of the appropriate size. They were all gorgeous. He helped us narrow our choices down to 7-8, then brought ALL of those rugs to our house so we could see which ones looked best with our furniture. What a difference that made! We picked the perfect rug and it was already in our home. Plus he cut us a rug pad and gave us an extra one for a rug we already had, free of charge. He also said he'll do all future cleaning and stain removing. Love this place! Amazing first class service. Also if you call ahead to say you're coming to his shop he will validate your parking. I can't say enough. Went down to replace my kilim of many years. They didn't have quite what I envisioned and he said he'd bring by something from the warehouse. It was perfect! Turabi installed it without hesitation. Just a wonderful experience. This is the last of the great Middle Eastern rug dealers in Seattle. Their staff are experts in rug identification, rug appraisal, and most importantly rug repair and restoration. I was amazed when I saw the quality of their work and yet the price was very fair. He didn't try to discourage us from having it repaired so that we would buy a new one from him.
