I stopped by Travel Style to look at the bags in person and potentially make a purchase. I told both of the associates I would be traveling locally and regionally for work and needed luggage that could accommodate. They recommended a Briggs bag and briefcase that met my needs. After leaving to browse other bags, I returned to make the purchase, knowing I would be using this bag a lot for several years, so the quality and warranty made sense. Fast forward 3 months, after my luggage had been checked at the gate on all previous flights, I finally had the opportunity to carry my bag onto a flight with me. The bag would not fit in the overhead compartment. This happened again the following week, and I had to check my bag at the gate. Both flights were on Delta from Minneapolis to Nashville. It turns out, the bag I purchased was the International Wide Body luggage, which has a width of 15.5" and the maximum allowance on Delta, America, etc. is 14". I called Travel Style, explained the situation, and asked if I could exchange my luggage for one that would fit in the overhead compartment. I was beyond the 30 day warranty; however, the manager, DJ, offered to exchange my bag for one of the domestic Briggs bags. I traveled to San Antonio last week, and my bag fit perfectly in the overhead compartment. Travel Style carries fantastic brands for travel, and they take customer satisfaction very seriously. I highly recommend them.

Apparently they recognized that they were losing business by removing their manufacturing from the US. Now I'm back, because they have been offering items made in the US albeit, I don't know if they are being made in Minnesota. For myself, I am a bit of a purse snob. I have several vintage Coach and D&B purses from my mother's youth. However, I exclusively purchase French made Longchamps and American made J.W.Hulmes. I get loads of compliments on my Hulme bags. Most are reminiscent of New York City made Coach bags. They are heirloom items. I purchased my first Longchamp 17 years ago and they came with a "key leash." I prevents my keys from sinking to the bottom of my purse and stops me from panicking if I can't locate them immediately. Now J W Hulme's American made purses have a key leash. Hopefully, they are visible in the photo I've posted. Not only are they offering American made leather products, but they are offering clothing and accessories. They usually state in their catalog where the item is made. I started purchasing the majority of my Christmas and birthday gifts again at J.W. Hulme. I like that they're offering other things. It gives me more to chose from when it comes to presents. I am not going into their retail shop, as my first experience was less than pleasant. I'm very pleased to exclusively purchase from the catalog. I bought one small, "imported" purse for my stepdaughter. I didn't want to spend a fortune on the item, because I wasn't sure she'd appreciate purses yet. It was made in China. She loved the purse so much, that it fell apart within a couple of months. Stick with the America, British or even Mexican made products from this retailer and you'll be pleased. I pray that they are employing those fine leather artists here in Minnesota.

I am a huge Samsonite fan. The luggage that I brought with me on this trip is a Samsonite and is…read moreprobably two decades old. The fabric has seen better days, as has its handle. It has been replaced with, you guessed it, another Samsonite luggage. I am in search of a carry-on, rolling computer bag. My trusty one that I have been using for a decade no longer fits in the overhead compartment on Air Canada's aircraft travelling to and from the States. I need something smaller, but I am perfectly fine using my backpack these days. I saw this Samsonite store at Eagan Outlet Mall. I had never stepped foot in it. I decided to pay it a visit. I walked in and a European-designed set of luggage greeted me. The small one looked adorable. I rolled it around and it was incredibly lightweight that required little effort to move it. A man approached me and asked if I had any questions. I launched into one. I was looking for a computer rolling bag and wondered if he had any. He had two and led me over to them. One had two wheels and was rather large. The other was smaller with four wheels. I loved the smaller one more. His counterpart, who is his manager, pointed out some bags that were designed for women and had wheels. He showed one of them and it looked hideous. It looked like a handbag on steroids with two wheels. What caught my attention were the travel accessories. I liked the Disney tags and got a Minnie Mouse one. I also got a spinner strap that clips on to your luggage and secures your second bag. The best part of this visit was the conversation. The man asked where I was from. I said Toronto. It was interesting that the woman couldn't tell whether I was Canadian or American. She asked. I said the former. I have always felt that it's straightforward figuring out that I'm Canadian. I don't talk like a Minnesotan unless I am mimicking it. However, I am so comfortable being in this state because I used to live here. I can see why she couldn't tell. I let them know that I used to live in Rochester, which made both of them open up. They both live in Rochester. The woman used to live across from where I used to work. The man lived in Owatonna before settling in Rochester. I don't find it weird driving an hour between Rochester and Eagan for work. It's similar to my driving between Markham and Mississauga for work before the pandemic. Perhaps as I get older, connections with and stories from people make me happy. I enjoyed hearing how she and her then boyfriend drove from Rochester to Niagara Falls for the first time. She loved the charm of that city, but her cheap boyfriend found the food at McDonald's so expensive. "Are you still with him?" I asked her. "Unfortunately, yes, depending on your point of view," she said. We all cracked up! If you check in on the Yelp app and you spend $200 or more, you get $20 off. That's not bad if you get the largest piece of luggage in the store. Everything was discounted, including the two accessories that I was purchasing. I paid using a credit card. Their payment kiosk accepts tap, swipe, and chip insertion. I did tap and it works fine. They both let me know that they expect more roller computer bags down the road. Due to supply chain issues, there is a delay. I was okay with it and thanked them both for showing me what they have. There is more selection at this store than at the ones that I have frequented in Canada. They were happy to hear it. The woman told me to stay warm, as the Twin Cities is currently going through a cold snap. The man said that it's probably warmer in Toronto, but the weather right now is comparable to Winnipeg. I let him know that I used to live in Winnipeg. It was where I learned how to plug in my car on cold nights, which made them both laugh and appreciate that I am a fairly well-travelled person. I appreciated that he used to work at FedEx and knew that Canada has postal codes. I signed up to be on Samsonite's mailing list, so he made sure that he didn't ask me for my ZIP code. I was pleased with my cool purchases and how friendly both staff members were. I had an enjoyable shopping experience and chat. I'd return again in hopes of finding a decent computer bag with spinner wheels. (492)

We purchased an electrical plug converter for a trip and when we unfolded the prongs when we got to Europe, the prongs were both defective, the metal ends detached from their posts. The thing was unusable. In addition, if the metal tips had still been on the prongs (only loose, not fallen off yet) and we plugged it in to an outlet, the metal tips could have remained in the outlet when we unplugged! That could have been a disaster. The store refused to accept a return, even of a defective Clearance item, citing that we knew when we bought them that they were not returnable, that they had no way of knowing if an unopened packaged item was defective, etc. My guess is that the Clearance items are things that they already know have a problem and they just want to get rid of them, take your money, no returns accepted. If an item is packaged so that you cannot test it out, don't buy. My trust in Samsonite is destroyed.

I wasn't sure what I would find going into the Filson Outlet, considering that most everything that they have is very high quality, and rarely discounted. Upon entering the store, I noticed many many items that I had wanted from the previous season on the shelves. Not only that, they were discounted VERY steeply. I got a couple of vests for around $40 each, and also got a jacket that was made for a special event as a "Thank You" give-away to the people who put on the event. I was told only 15 were ever made, and I got one of them. I have seen similar items from Filson go for $300-$500 and I paid $80. I was truly like a kid in a candy store. This is not a typical outlet store with odd-ball items, and strange colors. Sure there is some of that, but much of what this store is selling is still very much in, and is the same quality as any other Filson Product. They do not make discount clothing, this store is mostly closeouts and a handful of factory seconds. The only downside is that they did not have hardly any bags, and the bags that they did have were not nearly as significantly discounted as the clothing. This doesn't come as a surprise to me because they are known for their bags. The salesperson sold me that sometimes it's the other way around, they have tons of bags and very few clothes. The sale people were also very nice and helpful. If you are a Filson fan, you will not be disappointed!!

I went with the V3 since I will be traveling to Europe for business and leisure later this month and was worried that my existing carry on wouldn't fit within international carry on specifications. It was nice that the tags had dimensions in customary as well as metric units as European airlines listed requirement dimensions in cm. Apparently their service in case something goes wrong is excellent. Hopefully I won't have to utilize that too often but it's nice knowing there will be decent help if I need it. The "add a bag" system where some of their smaller business cases and totes have a back sleeve to slip over luggage handles is a good idea but not sure overall if the quality merits the price premium yet. I will update this review in the future if my perception changes dramatically but the saleswomen did warn that in exchange for the V3 being more light it tends to get scratched up pretty easily. A little concerned if I am forced to check my luggage but I'm assuming it would be able to hold up reasonably either way. Otherwise it would probably make more sense to just spend a quarter of the price to get a less prestigious but respectable SwissGear or similar brand carry on.

While in one of those big box stores, came upon a "up to 50% off" luggage sales and thought I couldn't beat the price. Wheeled my new purchase with me into the store to find other travel items for my upcoming trip and the store employee (don't know if it was the owner or not, never identified that to me, not that it mattered) inquired if I minded telling him how much I'd paid. When I told him, he went over and picked out the exact same piece of luggage from within his inventory and told me the price. It was another $17 cheaper, REGULAR PRICE! He also mentioned that if I was willing to return (and save $17) he would give me a free travel gift for my trouble. So I decided to return my "sale" purchase and give my patronage to this small business. Once I arrived back at the store, he had already prepared the luggage to go, tucked in a nice travel pillow to the suitcase and when I mentioned I was also looking for a small LED light, but not a bulky one like I saw on the wall inventory, he pulled out a perfect one for my purse. This was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend!

My husband travels a lot for work so he went to this store looking for high quality, durable luggage that could stand up to frequent travel. We looked at several brands and finally settled on a large suitcase that the salesperson insisted came with a lifetime warranty. We were actually considering a different brand that looked a little more rugged but the salesperson was really pushing this other brand and its lifetime warranty so we trusted him and bought the suitcase. It didn't even last two trips before the seam ripped. We tried to repair it ourselves but it just kept getting worse so I reminded my husband that the case had a lifetime warranty so we brought it back to the store to have it repaired. The salesperson told us that the suitcase we bought did not actually have a lifetime warranty and, in fact, they did not even carry that particular brand anymore! Well now we know why the first salesperson was trying so hard to sell it! We went back and forth with this new salesperson about the warranty issue and she finally agreed to repair the suitcase for us for free due to the "miscommunication" (outright lie?) with the previous salesperson. After almost a MONTH they finally called to let us know our suitcase was fixed. My husband went in to pick it up and, surprise! It's not actually free. We were expected to pay for the repairs because they had to send it out to be fixed. None of this was explained to us until we walked into the store to get our suitcase and the manager refused to return the suitcase unless we paid for it. It was the WORST customer service experience ever (made even more challenging by the fact that none of the employees speak English as a primary language!) Please do yourself a favor and buy your luggage elsewhere. Anywhere else.
