We had not been here for several months until this morning for breakfast. Was lots better than I remember of past. Portions were large and quality much better it seems. I had special request of potatoes, onions, jalapeños, and eggs, with a biscuit. The biscuit was from frozen pack, pretty sure. Definitely not fresh and recent made. Traveling home from California back to Georgia and stopped in the Tumbleweed Cafe for lunch. My husband and I both had the bacon cheeseburger special and it was one of the best burgers we've ever had. Will recommend to friends that may be passing through. read more

Cute, small-town place! Got the gizzards to start. I had never had gizzards, so I don't have much of a frame of reference, but I liked them! For my meal,I got a turkey melt. Maybe not adventurous, but tasty. I did not have pie, though I've heard it's legendary. read more

Anybody looking on Yelp for good food recommendations will not want to eat here. I went in for dinner and noticed most of the senior couples were eating eggs and toast. Not sure why until I ordered the daily special, spaghetti. I'm not sure if this is how they eat spaghetti in Nebraska but the pasta looked and tasted like it was soaking in water for a couple of hours and the sauce had no flavor. Non of the other dishes served looked that great either. There aren't very many dining options in town so if you're staying awhile you'll probably end up visiting this cafe. I will stop by for breakfast some day since most of the customers seemed to like the eggs and toast. read more

The locals have loved this place for years but I think it has declined. We returned decades later and the food was just meh. Its probably someplace your grandparents would like, and these aging communities need places like this, but if you crave a little more flavor, keep looking. Service was friendly and good though, and that is hard to find anywhere. read more

Going 5 star on breakfast. Food is prepared exactly as asked for and is hot, fresh and tasty. Portions are ample and coffee cup never runs dry. Atmosphere is typical country cafe and it is no fancy but if you are needing some morning grub you can't go wrong. Prices are a pretty good value for what you get. read more

Hungry from driving all day. Came in and sat at the little bartop because it was just me and i heard the food was better than somewhat mediocre. Servers walked by looking at me like nothing was going on. Nobody came up and asked if I wanted a drink, no greeting or menu placed in front of me for the 15 minutes I sat front and center at the little bar top. Saw other couples walk in and get greeted. Eventually i just walked out because customer service was at an all time low and no manager walking around checking on the quality of his/her customers. 1 out of 5.... 1 out of 10 stars... would not recommend to any single trucker looking for a bite. read more

Had not been here since 1975. Place has not changed and that is a good thing. Had the Pitchfork burger. A bit messy but worth the napkins to keep your fingers clean. Piping hot when food arrived. Wife had breaded pork tenderloin, super and she knows as she's an Iowa native. All good. read more

Fast and friendly service and good food. I traveled to Broken Bow to watch the eclipse. They had seating set up in the parking lot so customers could watch the eclipse. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I arrived just before they were going to shut down so the employees could also watch. I thought that was a pretty cool thing to do. I sat down at a picnic table, chatted with several of the staff, and watched the eclipse. Shortly after totality, they opened the kitchen back up and I was able to order a delicious lunch. They had several special eclipse items on the menu that day. They went all out to make this an event. read more

So I have eaten here twice now, and both times the servers made me feel like I shouldn't be there. Service is slow and not very pleasant. The first time I ate here I had the biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon. The gravy tastes like it came out of a can or a bag and the biscuit definitely do as you can watch the servers take them out of the bag and put them on the plate. The bacon was good though. The second time I had the Mexican omelette. What this consists of is taco meat, uncooked bell peppers, and uncooked onions. The omelette also came with what looked like canned nacho cheese on top. The hash browns were not fully cooked so that was disappointing. I know this is small town Nebraska so I can forgive the lack of imagination in the food, but when I go to a small town diner I expect the staff to be polite. Every time I said thank you I received an "uh huh" instead of your welcome or no problem. Even checking out it seemed like I wasn't supposed to be there. If i were to go again i would get something besides the burger i ordered. i think it was a burger with ham on it and it sounded good but wasnt such a good combo. everyone else in the family was very satisfied with their lunch. Seems that Tumbleweed has gone downhill in the last few years. Chicken Fried Steak is not even close to the treat it used to be. Sunday Brunch the other day was a disappointment. We were on vacation from Houma, La. to South Dakota. Stopped in for breakfast; very nice people working there . The food was prepared well and hot.You get ample amount of food;coffee keeps coming; and service is very good.One funny thing; we asked if they had grits and was asked; what are grits?
