However, I recently had an unsettling experience that dropped my rating. After apparently forgetting to rerack weights once (my bad--happy to own that and I've made sure it won't happen again), staff sent me a text reminder at 8pm... along with a still photo pulled from the gym's surveillance cameras showing me working out. When I politely replied that the photo felt invasive and unnecessary (a simple text would have been fine), the response was defensive, claiming this is their standard way to "hold members accountable" and that I wasn't in a position to question it. While I get that CCTV is for security, extracting and texting identifiable images of a member to their personal phone for a minor etiquette reminder feels disproportionate and creepy. It made me uncomfortable enough to escalate to corporate for policy clarification. Most staff interactions are fine, but this approach needs rethinking--members should feel supported, not surveilled and shamed. Hoping management addresses this for better member experience.

Especially if you're trying to catch a quick lift, be weary of this! 2. This gym only has one communal water fountain. In my 8+ years of coming here, the filter has never been replaced it seems. Constantly having issues with it freezing up or simply not working at all. Bring your own water and plenty of it! 3. Have yet to be greeted by any of the staff when entering the facility. Often get dirty looks when trying to say hello, so I just mind my business now. I will say, the people who come here are exceptional and if you are looking for a gym with quality equipment overall, this may just be the spot for you! (These are my personal experiences only)

I took 20 classes in 30 days, and tried all except the hot yoga. PROS: -Beautiful studio! The space is gorgeous and clean with lots of natural light in the pilates area and fun neon lights in the HIIT class area. -Great selection of classes and times to choose from. -The classes themselves are wonderful- HIIT ranged in difficulty and the pilates was always fantastic. -Low sugar plant-based smoothie menu was awesome. CONS: -Customer service- This was my biggest problem with the studio. I was rarely greeted or acknowledged when entering the studio or when leaving. Entire classes went by when I was not acknowledged at all. It was a very cold/unwelcoming environment. I felt incredibly out of place and always left feeling kind of...sad. There was just one instructor who actually learned my name and was friendly to me, and I took multiple classes from her (she was great). After I joined the studio I never got a "tour" / nobody showed me around or told me what to expect from different classes. I was left on my own to figure it out. I have tried lots of studios around town so felt mostly comfortable in the classes but if I was new to this type of exercise, I would be totally lost. -Price- I paid a little over $200 for a new member special 30 day deal. That gets you one (just one!) class per day. There were times I wanted to do a HIIT class in the morning and check out a hot yoga class in the evening but I was not willing to pay an additional $25 to double up. There *are* 75 minute HIIT/Pilates combo classes, though. -No private bathroom area/locker room. The bathroom area is shared with whatever business is down the hall. It's a typical office building bathroom situation- no hooks on bathroom stall doors or surface to put down a bag. Not convenient for the days I had to change after work. No bowls of hair ties/tampons or dry shampoo like every other studio I've been to has. Overall, with a more welcoming vibe and the option to double up on classes, I'd come back. Otherwise there are plenty of other studios around town that offer the same workouts with a better atmosphere, and for a better price.

Max fitness does not make any of their "extra" charges known upon sign up and even when we asked about extra charges they did not mention that they would charge an extra $53 annually on top of other charges to where the total for our membership goes upwards of $30 per month. This angered me greatly as they are exploiting their members without giving them all of the information that they need. You are paying an absurd amount for a mediocre gym that goes behind your back to take your money. The cancellation policy is awful. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE. There are many other gyms in the BR area, do not get drawn in by the big name. I am surprised that this issue is not as well known but it should be.
