I have a grey horse and he tends to find his poop and pee piles to sleep in, but the barn here is so meticulously cleaned that my horse is always white! Austin and Raul and the other barn hands make sure the stalls are immaculate. The tack room is nicer than most of my house. The bathroom is always clean and there's a fridge and changing area in the tack room as well. The feed rooms are set up in a way that each horse has its own bin and the staff is amazing at ensuring the grain is given as ordered. There are 2 turnout areas, a smaller one up by the barn and the larger ones down below. The indoor is LARGE with GGT footing and beautiful mirrors. The outdoor is large as well with excellent footing. BOTH ARENAS are dragged daily!!!!!! It's like fresh tracks every day! There are carts in the tack room so you can wheel your stuff to the cross ties on either end of the barn and the wash racks are set up really elegantly. The staff that runs the tour rides at the winery barn are also so sweet and polite! And they are always smiling! If your horse is not afraid of bunnies, like mine, you can ride the vineyard trails as well. Honestly, I think my horse feels like he's back in Europe! So glad to have this beautiful well maintained barn in Napa. And the board price is SUPER reasonable and there is NO nickel and diming for additional services like turnout, blanketing, etc. I can't speak to the previous negative reviews but if I could move into one of the stalls myself, I would.

They are very patient and take time to explain the whys, not just the hows. They also are great about explaining concepts that I don't understand right away, finding different ways to explain or demonstrate the right way to do things to make sure it is the best experience for you and the horse. I feel safe under their instruction, and completely secure on their horse, Cash. He is sweet and calm, but not a pushover - perfect to learn on! Andrea and David's horses obviously love and trust them. I'm happy to be learning from them! For reference, I took lessons as a kid but am in my 30s now; I believe they also have kid students - I'm sure they can do a great job instructing students of any age.

I was recently given a (surprise) first riding lesson with Four Star Farm, and my world will never…read morebe the same! As a neophyte to everything equestrian, I began the lesson with the simple goal of surviving what I assumed would be an hour of fear and embarrassment followed by an afterglow of melancholic guilt. Once the lesson began, however, I experienced several important revelations: 1. I'm a self-absorbed neurotic who overthinks everything. 2. Learning to ride is thrilling but not once did I experience fear. 3. Horses are incredibly affectionate and intuitive creatures. Interacting with them had a remarkably calming effect on my over-stimulated amygdala. 4. Natalie is an amazing teacher, with a pedigree of competitive accomplishments that were mostly lost on me. It felt akin to taking a drivers-ed class from Danica Patrick. It didn't hurt that the setting is beautiful and idyllic. The facility (Valley Dressage and Sport Horse Center) feels professional and well run but with a comfortable, informal atmosphere that I appreciate. Admittedly, I have nothing to compare my experience against, but my sense is that I was quite lucky to have taken my first ridding lesson with Four Star Farm.

We had originally booked with Wendee on Airbnb, but had our event cancelled by Airbnb due to…read moreCovid-19. Wendee was sweet enough to reach out to us to ask if we still wanted to have our experience outside of Airbnb and we were so excited to take her up on the offer. We booked a Reiki meditation with Horses session ultimately :) After a beautiful hour drive up to Wendee's location from Santa Rosa, we were greeted by the wonderful Wendee herself. We were offered some wonderful mint tea w/sweetener as well as some fresh fruit to snack on while we opened our reiki meditation session. Following, we were able to down to the fields and join her beautiful three horses and use our reiki meditation to invite animals into our space and use that time to bond with them, as they were willing to. We learned about each horse and what made them special. I ultimately felt like I had a connection with Brioso and I was happy to see that he felt that way with me too :) We were also able to bathe Arturo and Brioso and had some special appearances from Wendee's cats who were super friendly and allowed us in their space with lots of purring. Ultimately, my guests and I had an absolute blast. Wendee was a terrific host with three beautiful horses that allowed us to practice and learn reiki meditation in a very helpful way. Could not recommend this experience enough. If you are in the Sonoma or Napa area, this is a beautiful experience that you shouldn't miss out on. Definitely bring a hat and sunscreen if the weather is hot, Wendee's place is beautiful but the sun has no mercy and you'll need the protection. I walked away with a new set of skills, a daily meditation practice and an improved outlook on life. On top of that, her property is absolutely stunning and takes you out of the hustle and bustle of touristy highway 29 for a breath of fresh mountain air.
