Zoolightful lantern event. Interactive panda exhibit for kids.
Crystal C.

Love the Tulsa zoo. I'm an adult who goes at least once per year. Recently went to the Zoolightful lantern event. Don't miss it!

We finally made it to the Tulsa zoo this summer! It was a super fun trip! Really hot day but going between the different AC'ed enclosures with plenty of water fountains & seats along the way made it doable. Loved watching the eagles feed and seeing all of the beautiful animals! The kids loved the petting zoo too! Train was pretty squeaky but it was also fun to take a load off and ride around the park to see things. Everyone who worked there was super friendly & shared a bunch of animal facts and information too. I'm glad we have this little zoo close by, we will definitely be back!

I have been to a handful of state Zoos and this is by far a Beautiful and large Zoo with tons to offer! These animals all show healthy and look to be well cared for. The zoo itself may be old in some areas and new in others but they're in the middle of construction trying to renovate the property. Staff are friendly and the property is clean. See you soon!

Beautiful spring day and young kiddos to take care of. What better way to keep them amused than a trip to the zoo. Tulsa has a very nice zoo with what appear to be comfortable habitats for the animals. Easy to navigate it's basically a loop. A number of air conditioned buildings provide nice breaks from the Sun. Very clean. Pleasant and helpful personnel.

Traveled from OKC for the fun of visit to Zoo. Entered in the west end, so I guess they have 2 openings. Entrance very simple. Tic lady very nice. Did say train was down waiting on part. Very disappointed for sure, since we have a 2 yr old. They do have some new areas being built for elephants which definitely needed. This Zoo is compact but still felt the walk . A lot of areas you were closer than OKC. We loved the structures that looked Egyptian. Would be pretty in summer with vines and greenery. I will say the kids playground area was nice, packed with families. Didn't seem like a lot of animals to see but the Giraffes, was nice. Penqins were huddled in shade not even in water. Sad area. Snake house and others were connected by walkover and were big and nice. Alot of Turtles in different areas. Childrens petting area. Overall was ok but OKC still better but OKC is soooo spread out. Sometimes smaller areas are better for walking.

Loved this zoo! I took the 2 year old I'm babysitting and she had a great time. I like that everything was easy to get to, especially with the map they provide. We saw tigers, elephants, giraffes, and more. There is a lot of construction and new exhibits opening so that was the only downside. However, I have an excuse to come back. Can't wait to see the upgrades!

Finding thins for my autistic client is hard and today was a little tougher. The weather was beautiful and it fell on a Sunday, so where does everyone go? The zoo. We loved all the chi its we made it too and it was a great trip, but the overwhelming noise made it hard for my angel. Not the zoo's doing and we agreed we would be back because it was "totally sigma."

I enjoy visiting different Zoos around the country - and this place is cute. Bigger then expected it had some fun things like the ability to feed the giraffes, observe, rhinos, watch, chimpanzees play, and enjoy an assortment of other animals. One of the more interesting things that I know it was the massive amount of different areas for children, be they the playground, pet farm, and just a lot of great family activities. If in Tulsa looking to spend a day it was well run and clean with good animal Enclosures

I grew up going to this zoo, as did my dad (and probably my grandparents too.) The zoo has been around since 1927 with some of the exhibits stil in use being built by the WPA during the Great Depression. My latest visit was last week and I was disappointed by how many pens had no animals in them. We went to the fancy, new elephant area - no elephants. Luckily there were 2 in the old pen, but why open the building if no animals have been moved over yet? This zoo is heavy on reptiles and birds. No polar bear anymore, didn't see any zebras, didn't see any lions. I noticed that the glass was very dirty and hard to see into the pens. The sheer amount of screaming and kids banging on the glass was unreal. The animals are better behaved than the humans at the zoo. I wish that like the Toronto Zoo, the Tulsa Zoo would put up signs about the importance of being quiet because it stresses out the animals. Most of the animals were in a corner hidden from view in their pens or at least as far away from spectators as they could get. I can see why the animals are stressed when people don't believe in parenting their screaming-banshee-sounding kids. This zoo is very affordable and they allow outside food and drinks. It took us just 2 hours to see everything, although we skipped the children's zoo - which is apparently the petting zoo + river otters. We were bummed about missing the otters and the polar bear. Visited March 2024.

There is lots of parking for the zoo. Once you park you cross over a bridge to get in line for tickets and then there are lots of options to explore the zoo. Lions, tigers and bears where to start? There are several kiosks with drinkers and snacks. There is a carousel and kids party and don't forget the petting area. Be careful with your map, one of the goats might take it from you. It was great weather for exploring and getting your steps and checking out the zoo and all the animals.

Giraffes
Jessica M.

The Tulsa Zoo has all the animals that you would want to see including my favorites elephants, giraffes and giant tortoises, oh my! I missed out on the giraffe feedings so I'm already planning my next trip. Not to be missed zoo nights are after-hours for adults 21+ held monthly throughout the year. The zoo is a good size so there's plenty to see and lots of reasons to keep coming back.

Red Panda exhibit

The Tulsa Zoo is such a wonderful place to spend the day! It's very well kept and clean, with beautiful grounds that make walking through the exhibits a joy. I really appreciate the care and attention given to the animals -- you can tell they're well looked after. There are plenty of fun extras for families too, like great playgrounds for the kids and a charming carousel that adds to the experience. A perfect mix of education, fun, and relaxation -- we'll definitely be back!

This is a review of Zoo Nights on the Rocks, a 21+ event (August 12, 6-10 PM). Advanced tickets were $25. This was well worth the price. Tickets were limited, nothing was crowded and the weather was perfect. There were various bars set up around the property. Bring some moolah because drinks are $10 a piece. There was another option to pay an additional $25 for a flight of four specialty cocktails. I would probably at least buy one of the flight options and share because we basically spent that much for two drinks on our first bar hop. Most of the animals were still out and Keeper Chats were going on every 15 minutes for the alligators, chimps, sloth, penguins, meerkats, and giraffes. Vic Ortega was playing live at Rajan's and we also ate dinner there. (The melts were pretty good and there's Neff beer on tap there.) Staff everywhere from the greeter/ID-checker to the bartenders to the staff at Rajan's were friendly and welcoming! I would definitely do this again. Sorry kids, but it's much nicer enjoying the zoo without all the strollers. (Said with much love.)

For example, they have enough Thomas Moran paintings and drawings to fill its own gallery. Fortunately, the museum announced a multi-million dollar expansion plan last year and the new design is impressive. In the meantime, visitors must make do with some galleries that are incredibly dark and an antiquated personal photography policy that, while allowing camera use, still puts much off limits. (Hey, Gilcrease, if you want more visitors, liberalize your policies.) Luckily, the museum has a good online collection that, once you create a user account, permits you to easily download images for personal use.
