Olivia, the receptionist was EXTREMELY unprofessional and rude!!!I just needed to talk to a vet about medicines that I was confused about, because Olivia said her self she "can't tell me anything about that, she's just a receptionist" so I kindly asked to speak to a vet available, because they can give me a clear understanding of which medicine my dogs need. I have never been met with such blatant disrespect and hostility from anyone there until my encounter with Olivia today. The ENTIRE time she kept shaking her head at me and mad dogging me with her arms crossed, and scoffing at me. I would not be surprised if clients turn over because they don't want to be exposed to rude and unprofessional behavior. She could've easily handled the situation way better than she chose to do. The vet I talked to, Natasha, was wonderfully knowledgeable and respectful. Cleared everything up for me! Olivia on the other hand gave me the worst experience I've ever had here and now im worried about what quality of service and treatment I'm going to get because of this little incident. read more

We adopted some cats here and then came back on their low cost vaccine clinic day to finish up their shots! The staff/volunteers helped us to meet some kitties first and get acquainted, then the adoption process was pretty smooth. read more

I volunteer here regularly and personally know each of the managers. All of them are wonderful and show a great passion and care for animals. I've adopted from them twice and my friends have gotten their animals spayed and neutered there. Everyone's experience was great and really easy. My boyfriend and I have been trying to adopt a dog for 2 weeks now. It has been very difficult to get a hold of the adoption center, even when the clinic transfers me over. I'd say 70% of the phone calls we have made to try and contact them have gone to voicemail or are never picked up, and we don't here anything back. I understand they have a lot of volunteers, and that the organization has to have rules in place (like getting all current animals spayed/neutered, all vaccinated, etc.) but we have had to jump through MANY loop holes just to adopt the puppy we want. It's a "help me help you" moment. If others deal with such difficulties trying to adopt a pet from TSPCA, how could you expect these animals to find a forever home? UPDATE!!! We were able to bring our puppy home! We do have some concerns regarding the condition of our pup, at the time of her adoption. (I want to start by saying we do not know the whole story, this is simply what we have observed and experienced!) As we were signing papers and paying to adopt her, the dog was very playful and we were happy to see her so excited to meet us! By the time we got home, we were really starting to notice how skinny she was. I know puppies carry their weight differently, but we could see her spine and ribs from across the street (and when looking at her back from above, there was an intensly small waist line), especially compared to how thick the bones of her front legs were! She has a dull coat and a bit of food aggression as well. It also appears that she has a hyperextended front wrist on her right side. It is very weak when she walks, but I ASSUME this is due to malnourishment, leading into developmental problems. We were told that she came in with a litter, and she was the last of her litter to be adopted, but they never told us of any health related concerns to know about. We did notice the two women in the adoption center checking out the puppies incision site from the spay surgery she had done, (we are 1unaware of WHEN it was done), but they told us to keep an eye on it. This being our first dog that has actually been spayed, we asked what we need to look for. The woman seemed unsure of how to answer and told us to just keep an eye on it. I am aware that the people working in the adoption center are not vets, but surely the vets document things like this!? The puppy has so many health concerns, that we had to schedule a vet appointment somewhere, the same night we got home with her (which is something we didnt think we had to do.) I don't want to make them out to be a bad organization, I am just concerned. read more

I had sent an email and called in to help a stray cat that was someone's pet and I feel deserves a good home. I've held on to the cat since October 9th when I filled the paper work online, sent an email with photos and detailed information, called and discussed this issue. I've now sent two emails and have called three times asking for a response. When I have called and spoke with a person, they took my information and said will check on it and see what is taking so long. I think I've been patient waiting another week. I don't want to have take this cat to the humane society because they will euthanize her. But we're highly allergic to cats and can't keep her any longer. read more

Perfect vaccination clinic!! Nikki & Sam are really apprehensive about the mask situation, but the staff are gentle and really love the beasts. Went there for Nikki's vac's today and Sam wasn't due for another 3-4 weeks. I asked if it was ok to do him a bit early. They obliged & now we can do them both together. That works best since Sam has some real separation issues. SPCA, Thanks for all you do! read more

What I saw was clean and the cats I saw were very healthy and happy. They have been neutered, have their shots for a year, been tested for feline leukemia and have microchips. Staff and volunteers. They accept donations of food and pet supplies!!!!' read more

I have had a very unfortunate experience with the Tulsa SPCA that I feel that I need to share with anyone who is adopted a dog from them. I adopted a puppy mill survivor who spent 10 years in a puppy mill. I specifically asked them when I adopted whether she had a dental done. They said yes. The paperwork came and none of it says anything about a Dental being done. They contend that they did a partial Dental when she was under anesthesia for her spay but they forgot to document it. In the world I live in which is the medical world if you don't document it it didn't happen. So this dog has visited two veterinarians within the first two months of living with me. Both veterinarian stay there does not appear to be any evidence of a dental. She has severe severe dental disease. When she eats her kibble she chews it up with her front teeth and drops it on the floor so that she can eat the rest of it so she's clearly in pain. The estimates that I have given been given range from $800-$1500 to get her in decent shape and remove all of the teeth that are rotten. The only reason I was given a low estimate of 800 was because the clinic works with rescues and they heard the story and felt bad for me and for the dog. I offered to settle with the SPCA for $500 and they could pay the Clinic directly. They refused and offered to take her back. Why would I ever sent her back to someone who didn't take care of her in the first place? I will be doing the dental next week and the SPCA refuses to help with any of that. They adopted out 80 puppy mill survivors to people who spent years in terrible conditions. If all 80 of those dogs had a "partial" Dental many other new adoptees are in need of dentals. And many of them won't be able to afford it. What they did was rather unconscionable when saving a puppy mill survivor. I made an appointment to nuter my dog. Making the appointment was quite easy and I received an email a couple days before hand, confirming and letting me know the details on how to drop him off went to drop them off which was very nice. I do work very early in the morning, so I had my freiend drop him off and I was told that I would need to pick him up between 130 and 3 o'clock. I was going to pick him up on my lunch hour. I received a troubling text message about two hours after my friend. Let me know that they took him back telling me that I needed to come and pick him up immediately, and I need to either Text number or call this number. I ended up calling to see what was going on and according to the person I spoke with on the phone he just needed to be picked up immediately because he is being very hyper and he could hurt himself and if I didn't come get him he was going to die or could die. I asked if there's anything they could do in regards to calming him down she said no I need you to come get him. I said I get off in two hours. Is there any way that that could work because I don't have any family in Tulsa everybody that I do know they all work and they were at work at the time as was I so I told her that I have a couple more patients to see and she told me that there is no excuse and I am neglecting my dog by not getting him. she compared leaving a child alone to me not picking up my dog to what she referred to as a well-managed hospital. I was very frantic I said I'll see what I can do. I ended up leaving work early to come get him. I get there and I speak with the front desk They We're very nice and understanding and listened to my concerns when I explained the situation, a woman came out and brought me my dog and she was also very rude and condescending. I'm wondering if that was the same woman who I was talking on the phone with. as I was walking out, a woman stopped me to talk to me. She got my phone number and she told me that the situation would be handled and it was completely unacceptable. The way that I was talked to and made to worry I appreciate the effort of her, trying to calm me down because I wasn't very happy at the time. read more

I called on May 4th for an appt for my 2 cats which was scheduled for may 25th was told it would be 70 dollars per cat so I had them take the whole 140 from my debit card for a deposit I knew my cat Tommy was very sick pleaded with them to get him in sooner but to no avail he ended up dying before the appt I called and told them they said 70 bucks of the 140 was credited back to my account repeatedly called my bank never got it on top of that when I got my other cat there they charged me another 74 dollars on top of the other 70 I had for deposit plus 15 dollars for an ear cleaning never happened as I was right there in exam room observing if this is the way that this place does business I gotta wonder how well the other animals are treated also I felt like they didn't really listen to my concerns about anything I had to say really there was even more but I will just leave it at thi read more

Wonderful staff that truly care about the animals. Generally a wide variety of dogs and cats of all manners. This definitely is not a shelter that will make you sad to see. The animals seem happy and healthy. They also have an on-site veterinarian that is open to the community for low cost visits. Honestly, the community is blessed to have them! read more

I was very impressed with the workers and efficient way they handled our pet adoption. The dog was very loved and well taken care of. They told us everything they knew about her and took the time for us to get to know her and how she acted. All the staff told her good bye when we left. The place was very clean.
