    Mold

Extremely disappointed with the cleanliness of this hotel. If you want to shower, do not stay here. Mold in the shower and window sill and overall just plain dirty even the carpet had pills and other things on it. There is no excuse for this kind of unsanitary, uncleanliness and overall neglect.

Clean. Basic. Locally owned. Fair price and a very simple but available continental breakfast.

Ahh, Whispering Firs. A tale of two sides, if there ever was one. My wife and I stayed here…read morerecently and had some very good experiences and thoughts...but also had some very negative things as well. We had originally booked two nights, but because of the negatives we ended up staying just the first night and checked-out early. Here's the tale of the tape: The Good: - Linda and Vic (the innkeepers) are very nice. Extremely friendly and easy to talk to, Linda made us feel at home straightaway and was great company and conversation during breakfast. - Speaking of, the food was really good. We had blueberry cream cheese pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Along side juice, fruit, and coffee/tea. Linda was also very accommodating toward dietary concerns too. - The property and view is gorgeous! Located up on a mountain area, Whispering Firs overlooks the valley and you can even see the Sound and Whidbey Island. - The house itself is warm, comfortable, and inviting. There's a beautiful deck on the backside that it multi-tiered and has a walking path around little ponds. This would be great for entertaining and lounging. The Bad: - To get there, you have to drive up a half-mile gravel road that is full of potholes and bumps. It's narrow and not something that a regular car can navigate quickly. Wish we had a 4x4 vehicle. - The bed in our room (the North Suite) was way too high. It sounds weird to say that, but at roughly 3 feet high, it was a struggle for my 8 month pregnant wife to literally climb in and out of. - There were no curtains on the windows...just blinds that didn't block out all of the light and sight lines. So, there was a big lack of privacy seeing as the windows looked out onto the deck. - This room is located right next to the breakfast room, so it is extremely loud in the mornings. Breakfast is normally served at 8:30, but our morning had a group that wanted to eat at 7:00. That meant at 6:30 things got rolling on the other side of the wall and we heard it all. Neither Good nor Bad, Just Depends on You Point of View: - There is a large collection of stuffed animals (the taxidermy type) throughout the house and bedrooms. A hunter's paradise...so may not be up your alley. All in all, this could be a lovely place to stay; but it just didn't suite us and fit our needs. For someone else, it might be perfect. In this review, I'm simply wanting you to be better informed that I was. Hope it helps.

Candlewood Suites Burlington - King size bed

Looking for a place to stay as my husband, our little girl dog and I are traveling from Tumwater,…read moreWa to Vancouver, Canada, this seemed like a good stop for us as my husband didn't want to make the full drive and I really dislike arriving at a hotel at 10 pm or later. So I found this Candlewood Suites Burlington on my hotels.com app and decided to book a night to stay here. This hotel was surprisingly very affordable for a Saturday evening with only being $129 (prior to tax) and offers quite a spacious room with a king size bed. The pet fee was only $20 and we were very happy to have found out that they offer complementary dryer and washer for use (you just have to use your own detergent and dryer sheets). This was very helpful, as we ended up doing a load in the washer and then divided our load into 2 dryers (since no one was using them and it is faster to dry jeans this way from your other clothes). There are 3 washers to use and 4 dryers available. We checked in around 6:15 pm by a friendly employee. She gave us our keys and then we unloaded our car (they have luggage dollies at the front) and headed to our room, which was on the first floor. We had a kitchen and a full size fridge and microwave in our room, a fairly good size bathroom with plenty of counter space (I always dislike when bathrooms have so little counter space), Dove brand bath products, Dove soap bar, TV and desk that I was able to set up my laptop. The WiFi was fast and very happy that it never dropped while I was taking a test to earn a certification in my profession (I only had one attempt and so I was little nervous wondering if I would get dropped but I never did. Oh and I did pass for anyone that is wondering). Although there is no breakfast provided, you do have a kitchen in your room that you can use, which we did. So that wasn't a problem for us. Now one thing I do want to mention is that the walls between rooms are thin, as I heard neighbors around us. Also there is a train that seems to run at all hours of the day and evening, as I heard them throughout the evening. I am a pretty light sleeper so I didn't sleep that well but my husband (who is a heaver sleeper) was just fine. I have stayed at a bed and breakfast in Texas where there was a train nearby and that train was incredibly loud. This train wasn't nearly as loud but do want to mention this for those that may find this to be a problem. Because of the train and the thin walls, I am a bit indifferent and not sure if I would stay here again. But to us, there does seem to be more pros than cons. Overall, I would still rate this hotel 4 stars.

The room was moderately comfortable and we appreciated having a laundry facility. On the downside, there were two washing machines but one wasn't working. We wish the little convenient shop near the lobby was better stocked with some fresh food items. The pet area is not well monitored and several guests did not pick up after their pet. Lastly the parking spots are too narrow.

This place really does deserve more than the two stars they are given, even in the dead of winter the bright cheery atmosphere that exudes from every angle, the rates were super affordable, the prices so low I almost felt guilty, the maids, the clerks were efficient as smiley, no weird vibes , near shopping and restraunts as well as on the busline, it was worth the distance, Id recommend this quality inn to everyone especially anyone wanting to enjoy some nice peace and quiet, rooms up to date, clean with all the amenities to look forward to, loved my stay

However the…read morestrip of hotels alongside the I-5 highway epitomize the neglect and decay of the U.S.'s brutalist capitalist economy. This hotel easily ranks among the worst "quick overnight stays" on a road trip I have had the misfortune to make. The property is tacky and visibly degenerating. It feels like an insult to the human spirit itself, graceless, cheap, and rectilinear, more "prison industrial complex" than "hospitality industry". When I checked in, I was given a room on the third floor along the exposed balcony, but it had not yet been turned over (cleaned and swept) for the next guest. I returned to the front desk by way of the single elevator and they gave me an available room which turned out to be a cubby hole tucked in between the entry bay and the main dormitory style construction...a small space which squeezed by as a "room". You could barely fit an adult between the bed and the chest of drawers. However, an electrical outlet was functioning and there was a TV. The lingering smell of perfumed bleach cleaner bodes badly for my endocrine system but is a noticeable effort to refresh rooms between guests. I tried to crack open the sliding window for fresh air but the roar of the just-adjacent highway was akin to an airport runway. The indoor air quality was off putting. Unfortunately the threadbare sheets and acrylic / rayon duvet cover didn't inspire my confidence either and I brought in my own sheet set in and re-made the bed to the best of my ability. The bathroom it must be said was well-cleaned. I cannot fault the management for doing their best to maintain a standard of sanitation and hygiene inside the old and unimaginative box-like construction. Breakfast was what I imagine is the caliber of a detention center in Mississippi, Texas, or Louisiana. Even the bananas and oranges were wilted and had seen better days.
