Worst place I have ever stayed in my 40 years on this earth. Stayed here on 7/15/24. I am not one to complain but hear me out. First it was dirty. There were hairs in the "clean" shower that did not belong to us. Next, there were several missing face plates to plug sockets (I have a curious one year old). Moving on, there was a loose nail under the ac unit on the floor. Next, we had a spider on the pillows. Lastly, and my major concern is my 1 year old was eaten alive while sleeping. We are pretty sure it was bed bugs. We have never had bed bugs before but... he had bites in the patterning log bed bugs. He only had bites skin that was showing while sleeping aka not covered in Jammie's. We didn't stay anywhere before this hotel so we know it came from this hotel. They refused it. Said there was no bugs. Of course we showed them my 1 year olds face and they denied it. We also have pictures. Wouldn't give us our money back for our second night. We left. Had to take all our clothes to the laundromat hoping to get rid of them and not carry them elsewhere. This place is dirty, gross, dishonest and has bugs. Don't stay there. Room 119 has bugs. Honestly this was one of the worst hotels I've stayed in. I booked here because it was the cheapest place in Mount Vernon but save the hassle and spend a little more and go somewhere else. Upon check in, we were told we had to provide a $150 CASH deposit to cover the cleaning fee which we would get back during check out after they examined our room. They did have a small plaque on the counter in the office that explained this extra charge but this was not shown through booking.com so it came as a surprise to me. So what do you do if you don't happened to have $150 in cash? You have to go to the walmart across the street and use the ATM. So be prepared to have that extra money if you plan on staying here. The receptionist who checked us in also informed us the check in/check out office is closed between 11pm and 7am. I immediately told her this was going to be a problem because we were planning on checking out around 5:15am in order to get to a hike in the north cascades early. She let us know that since the manager lives on site, she would leave a note explaining our situation and that our early check out wouldn't be an problem, we just had to ring the bell in the morning and the manager would be up to check us out. Fast forward to the following morning and I ring the bell at 515am to a groggy voice who had obviously been sleeping. I said, "room 113 checking out." She told me the lobby was closed until 7am. I explained the receptionist said she would leave a note explaining our early check out. The manager informed me no note was ever made and she had no idea and that I had to wait until 7am. I told her that wasn't possible since we were planning to leave right now, so reluctantly she told us to hang on so she could get up and dressed and come down to the lobby. After she unlocked the door she told us nobody left her a note, I apologized for the miscommunication but affirmed the receptionist from yesterday told us it wouldn't be an issue. The manager pulled up our room on the computer and then walked down with us to inspect it real quick to verify everything was clean. But what really rubbed me the wrong way was while walking back to the room, the manager remarked that if her receptionist had sent her a text detailing our situation about wanting to check out early, she would have refused to allow it. Our room was clean so I recieved my entire $150 back, I apologized again for the mix up and left. I cannot recommend staying here. Not only did they have an asinine $150 cash deposit you're forced to make as well as not being able to check out until 7am, the beds we slept on were very uncomfortable with my parents agreeing with me. I feel like there are plenty of travelers like myself who stop at Mount Vernon for a night and wake up early to drive to a hiking trail so if that applies to you or you're just an early bird who wants to check out early and get back on the road, avoid staying here. read more

I went to book a room online. The website showed rooms available but when I went to confirm the reservation, it said "these rooms are no longer available...." I went into the hotel and the manager said she had taken the hotel offers off the web because "they are short on cleaning staff...." I booked a different hotel. I later received a confirmation email that the reservation HAD gone through. The manager said they could not refund the room because it went the through a website. She denied having said she had taken the hotel offline. She also said there were still rooms available but it was not the hotel's responsibility to refund online bookings. read more

The bed and sheets are clean, the TV and hot/cold fan work well. The TV channel list they provide is useless as half of the channels on it are unavailable through their service provider. The bathroom linens are clean, the shower curtain and shower are subpar for cleanliness. There's a cute little kitchenette in our room but absolutely nothing to cook on which seems utterly useless. read more

While the motel room was clean, they had satellite tv and the staff was friendly enough, BUT they seem to have missed The Entire Point of being a motel. The point of a motel is to provide travelers with a comfortable place to sleep for the night. First, the heating system could barely warm the room above 55 degrees, with hardly any fan force to it. We got a room with two double beds. Both beds had inner spring mattresses that had to have been at least 20 years old. They creaked and groaned loudly, and you could feel every worn spring and metal strap in them. It was like trying to sleep on a pile of scrap metal. Now we are talking about one person per bed. We got maybe 3 hours sleep between us the entire night and could barely walk in the morning due to hip and back pain. also for the record. When I worked on the road I had to sleep in some pretty run down Motels on the road, and this was the most uncomfortable night I have ever had in a motel. The Guest services book was dated 2008-2009 and about half the businesses listed no longer exist. That's how up to date and cheap the owners of this place are. read more

When I checked into my room the door lock was broke. so I went back to the front desk and asked for another room which they almost didn't want to do since they had already "checked me in" to that specific room with a broken door lock. I had to really push for them to switch my room. I didn't feel safe as a young single female and the walls are paper thin so you can hear everything. They also have a weird bathroom window that someone can easily pick and get in through. read more

Mold in the shower and window sill and overall just plain dirty even the carpet had pills and other things on it. I don't enjoy giving negative reviews but this 1 Star is for my personal experience. Was charged $56 for "towels that had makeup" on them. This place didn't even provide makeup removing wipes in our room and when I mentioned this all they said was "oh well there should have been." Oh well there wasn't and so I was charged almost $60 for cleaning my face? Super rude and not accommodating. Would not stay here again as the room wasn't even worth the $115. Bed was stiff and the overall cleanliness of the space was subpar. read more

How do I say what needs to be said here? I am still so angry I can't see straight. I will refrain from foul language, but at a great mental cost. Nothing I've ever experienced matches the disgusting actions taken by this establishment this last Tuesday. I have been in the process of moving my elderly parents here from Arizona. They can no longer care for themselves and it became necessary to bring them to Washington. I made a reservation for them last Sunday. They arrived and I brought them to the Tulip Inn. Now, I might add that our credit card paid for the room and was on file with the management. Circumstances required that they remain at the Tulip Inn until Friday morning. I made sure their room was secured through Friday and boarded an airplane Tuesday morning. Upon my arrival, there was a message at 11:36 am from the motel asking me to come over and remove my parents belongings from the room, as they had booked the room and there were no additional downstairs rooms. I contacted my son who has taken care of them in my absence. He informed me that he took them out for breakfast Tuesday morning. Upon their return the keys did not work. This is commonly called a lock out. You don't lock someone out when you have the room paid and in your possession. Whatever the reasoning, this is absolutely the most egregious treatment I have ever seen. My Father is a Veteran of 2 wars, barely able to move about. My Mother walks a bit better, but is limited as well. So the Tulip Inn has locked out 2 elderly, disabled individuals with their room paid up until Friday. On Tuesday. I called immediately when I heard about what happened. I asked for the manager. I was told she was not in. I proceeded to read the clerk the riot act, at which point she hung up on me. I call back immediately, and who answers the phone? The manager. I explained what happened as nicely as I could. There was no offer of assistance. Honestly, I'm sick of apologies from people in business. Totally hollow and disingenuous. I think this is the sort of thing that requires action, not words. I have power of attorney for my parents and you can bet there will be legal action. Not only that, there will be publicity that won't make life easy for this business. Not to mention the filthy carpet. Disgusting. Stay elsewhere. Especially if you're disabled. read more

This is not a Hilton, so if that's what you're looking for... move along, sorry. I've stayed at the Waldorf Astoria and I've stayed at Days Inn where there are bars on the windows and while this falls closer to the latter, it is clean and fairly quiet, considering its close proximity to I-5. Considering the price gouging that was going on in Mount Vernon thanks to the Tulip Festival, this was reasonably priced at $80/night (off season, I personally wouldn't pay more than $60). The front staff was friendly and the continental breakfast was standard (eggs boiled to the consistency of rubber bouncy balls, cereal, sugary pastries, coffee and orange juice). There's a giant Wal-Mart and Lowe's across the street, along with an Ihop and a Panda Express. A local burger joint is next door, and a Chinese buffet rounds out the plethora of restaurants in this area. There just isn't a whole lot to do in Skagit, which might explain the larger-than-expected roster of TV channels. There's also free wi-fi, though we didn't hook up to it (I came here to get away from the Internet, damnit). Our room was clean and mostly pleasant - as other reviewers have noted, the beds are pretty hard (this seems par for the course for hotels, however - maybe it's cheaper to buy a firmer mattress?). The pillows were very comfortable - I nearly smothered myself in one. Much like the Force in Luke, the water pressure is strong with this one - the showerhead looked like one of those trickling energy-efficient ones, then proceeded to blast me in the face like a firehose because I wasn't paying attention when I turned it on. Once again, we had a toilet that ran (what is it with us and running toilets in hotel rooms?) While I don't see myself returning to Skagit for anything in the foreseeable future, if I do I'd be open to coming back here. read more

Great value for the low price! $69/night for two queen beds is a price you can't beat. The inn is two stories tall, with plenty of parking spaces. It has a classic motel look on the exterior, but the interior is larger and cleaner than most motels. Pros: Spacious bathroom with hair dryer, free Wi-Fi, TV, fridge, and microwave. Close proximity to restaurants and Wal-Mart across the street. Cons: "Continental breakfast" only consists of coffee, bread, and pastries. Moderate noise levels at night coming from I-5. Sign easy to miss because it's not lit up. All in all, I had a pleasant stay, and I'd definitely go back to this quaint little inn in Mt. Vernon. read more

Worst service & hospitality I have received in a while. The establishment was quite empty and yet the staff ( I believe I was interacting with the owner ) still treated me as if I was a burden. Went to see ill friend who just had kidney transplant, purchased room around 4 p.m. did not get into the room until around 9:30 or 10 p.m. did not get to the shower until around 12 a.m. when I noticed all of these things wrong. The person at the front desk who checked me and said if I had any issues to ring the doorbell downstairs which I did, the lady was extremely rude and then called me drunk because I was frustrated at her attitude and the fact that the hotel was absolutely disgusting and I wanted a refund, upon that she came out and threatened and called the cops for me being "rude" I have never had a worse experience and never spoke with a worst person I do not know how in the world she even has a job in that field I do not recommend that place who knows what you could get just from laying in the Sheets if just from simple scanning of the hotel I found all of these problems. No apology no refund just rude and it's disturbing. read more

Decided on this for a quick road trip ~ reviews we a little "MEH" but we figured why not and went for it. Glad we did. We got in about 130a and desk clerk was clearly groggy, but really nice. Room was clean and had fridge coffee and micro. Bathroom had clean towels and plenty. The bedding is fabulous! The best pillows ever - in fact I am buying some because I love them so much! The breakfast was standard fare - eggs, yogurt, toast, Danish , fruits and juice. Nothing wrong at all and we will be returning. read more

Booked this on the same day, and I have to say, what a great value! Things I loved about this place: 1. Clean: beds had clean white sheets. Rooms had no musty or mysterious smells. 2. Mini fridge and microwave in the bedroom 3. Wifi included. If we're in the area again, I'll definitely be checking back into this charming place. read more

I reserved a room online for my dad who drove 26 hours from Texas to visit me. I was told by the lady at the window that because I had used my credit card, my dad could not stay there because the name the room was under had to match the credit card on file. My dad only uses cash so I told her we would be unable to use a card under his name hence me using my credit card. The woman told me that was policy and showed no desire to help me. Nor did she want me to book a room for myself and have my dad be my guest. This woman showed no empathy, no compassion. I asked simple questions like how to get a refund and she did not have a clue, she had to call her manager for simple questions she should know the answer to. This has to be the worst customer experience I have ever experienced. Ultimately I was frustrated and she told me to leave. But who wouldn't be frustrated? My dad was extremely tired and just wanted a place to sleep and this uptight woman was the most unhelpful uncaring rude person I have come across in a long time. My stay at Tulip Inn was OK and I have only minor complaints. The receptionists were friendly enough and the breakfast offerings were sufficient. My room was a bit below par though. First thing I noticed was scent of dog. The room was quite small and felt cramped, so I was especially glad to be traveling alone. The view of a parking lot and the highway were accompanied by related sounds. Totally fine for a quick stop off of the highway, but doesn't live up to some of the better online reviews. read more

Not very clean. People hair still in corners of the bathroom. Walls were paper thin and could hear everything. Kept getting woken up by people slamming doors and leaving at all hours of the night. Heater would make loud sounds every few hours and wake us up. So we had to tern in off. Beds were uncomfortable. Called to make reservations for one king bed and told yes. Got to the hotel and front desk argued that we didn't ask for a king and gave us two queen beds. read more

I am not sure what happened, but this was an atrocious experience. When we arrived and checked into the lobby, the lady on duty provided us a map of the tulip area and gave us our keys. That was the most positive think I can say about it. When we arrived into our , queen, room with our 14 and a half month old, we gazed upon a full bed. Our surprise and dismay increased as our 14 and half month old crawled up and down the floor, as they are to do, and their hands and feet turned black. Our shower had mold in it and the plumbing backed up three times. I went to the manager on duty and she told me that they would send housekeeping to look at it and the full bed was fully sized. Needless to say, I was extremely angry and we returned to an uncomfortable sleep. Breakfast included bagels, hardboiled eggs, fruit, juice and cereals. This was a fine assortment and the people on duty in the morning, I will admit, were much nicer. However, these perks do not make up for the terrible experience that my family endured on our journey to Deception Pass. Based off the reasons above, I would strongly advocate that travelers stay away. read more

I absolutely loved this place! It was so cute and cozy. The linen was clean and fresh, the room smelled good and the decor of the place on a whole was very charming. I wanted to stay but the drive to my job in Anacortes each morning would kill me! But I definitely plan to come back here if ever I'm in the area. Across the street is a Walmart and several eatery spots to choose. Plus the owners r the cutest sweetest couple ever and were a great help. The staff was wonderful also. read more

I got reassigned for work and ended up being in Mt Vernon for two months. After reading other yelp reviews I decided to stay here, and am really glad I did. There have been recent renovations and I found the rooms to be clean, comfy, and had everything I needed for such a long stay. Better than the rooms though are the staff. If there were any problems they took care of it right away, were quick to make sure the reservations were in place and generally willing to make sure everyone was happy. An added perk is there is a gym down the street that you can use for free and it is one of the nicest I have used in a long time. So I recommend the Tulip Inn for a quick right off the freeway affordable and overall really nice place to stay. read more

TERRIBLE!!! Do NOT go here! Kim, the manager is the most impolite, scam-seeking person! I booked a reservation through booking.com and arrived to the hotel around 11:40-5ish. I went up to the door which had a sign saying to ring the doorbell if it was past 11:00 so I rang the doorbell and no one came. The lights were off. It was a little cold outside so I sat in my car and waited a few more minutes to which I finally went up and rang the doorbell a second time. Finally I left after no one continued to come to the office and had to go stay somewhere else. To my surprise they had charged me for the entire night's stay the next day since they had my information through the booking.com reservation and claimed I was a no-show. I noticed they had cameras at the front door where I rang the doorbell so I thought 'ok this should be easily solved when they review the cameras and see that I was there and waiting and they should have no problem refunding me.' ....Let me tell you this is not what happened at all! I tried calling about 9 different times over the course of the next couple weeks in which I was told only "Kim" could refund me and help me with this. When I finally reached Kim she basically said that she was sitting there doing paperwork and that I was supposed to knock instead of ring the doorbell that the doorbell only goes to her upstairs home. I told her I didn't think to knock because lights were off and the sign clearly said ring the doorbell. Even so, I asked, could we please look at the video footage that should prove I came up there twice! She refused to be willing to show the video footage and continued to insist that she was in the right for charging me the ENTIRE night's stay! My description of everything ALONE should tell her I was in fact there and to just be in the right for the customer. But less let alone refuse the proof of the video footage too! I even called booking.com who said there wasn't much they could do and that she had told them "I have the right to keep the video footage private". So terrible. She clearly does not care about her customers or business if that's how she treats people! Do not stay here!! read more

Was visiting my daughter and needed a pet friendly hotel. The Tulip Inn was just perfect - clean room, comfortable bed, very welcoming to my little dog, and an extra bonus was the free breakfast that was nicer than many other fancier hotels have. Plan to stay here again when in town. read more

RIP OFF, WATCH OUT!! I guess I'm not the first one to get ripped off by this place reading the other reviews on here. I wish I would have read them before making a reservation here. We stayed here on a Saturday at the end of July. We were coming back through town the following Friday so we made a reservation for that when we checked out. The woman who took the reservation, who also happens to be the manager I guess, messed up the reservation and made it for the following Thursday instead. We showed up on Friday after a long day of traveling and were informed that our reservation was made for the prior night and that they were full with no room available for us. After scrambling to find a room elsewhere, we finally found one, but ended up paying twice as much for it as we would have. The woman at the desk at the time assured me the situation would be remedied and my credit card would not be charged. She also assured me the manager would call me, which never happened. Imagine my shock when I saw a charge for the room come through on my credit card bill for the night that we never stayed here. After calling multiple times and being hung up on once, I finally got the manager on the phone. Instead of taking responsibility for her mistake and making the situation right by refunding my credit card, she insisted that she made the reservation for the correct night and refused to refund the charge. Seriously, watch out dealing with these people, or better, don't stay here. read more

So we stayed at the Tulip Inn in Mt Vernon for one night during the tulip festival. WE RECOMMEND NO ONE EVER STAY HERE! The manager Kim is very phycotic and our room was not Clean. We travel extensively and stay in alot of hotels. Found this one on the internet price was decent reviews on their website were ok. We checked in and climbed into bed and one of the kids threw the covers back to get out of bed and we found a note at the bottom of the bed that stated "if you found this note no one changed your sheets" so we were totally gross out and went to front desk and the front desk person was very nice and apologetic. She stated they would come and change our beds and we said we just wanted sheets to do it ourselves we had children in the room. She called the manager Kim who never apologize but said someone ( A RANDOM PERSON??) probably put it in there after the maids made the bed but had left the door open getting more towels to stock the room. Sounds so plausible!!! So they next day when checking out we told the front desk person that we would never run a business like this ( the refrigerator did not work and smelled and there was dirt and what looked like urine stains on baseboard of bathroom ) and we thought they should comp us the room. She stated manager would call us later. Kim left us a message stating she found other writing in our room that was from us and it matched the note. ( there was no such "other writing we left and our signature which did not even come close" she then states we did not even change the sheets! Of course we did and there was a huge pile of dirty sheets on the floor from us! She states she can not condone this behavior! Crazy lady! Then we searched other websites about motel because we were shocked at her behaviour and found over 20 complaints naming her as their trouble. BEWARE! read more

We were heading to the ferry at the last minute and I found this hotel online. Room was clean, could only hear freeway noise from bathroom but shut door took care of that. Really nice bedding and pillows, especially for this price point. Clerk was helpful and polite. Would stay again for sure. read more
