I was raised partly in Italy and this was some of the best Italian food I've had in 15 years of visiting the U.K. since I graduated Uni there. An Italian family own and operate the place and they're hospitality is second only to the food. Absolutely amazing meal, just tell them what you don't like and they'll bring the rest. I wish I could give them more stars. I will share some of the photos from the beautiful evening I spent on the patio. I just wish I had a lover with me to share the experience with.

I know which place I prefer : here by a long shot. Fabulous for all the reasons given by the other reviewers. I am now so nostalgic to return. Hey, maybe I'll just ring them now & go this weekend!I did go! : just as good as ever : just more expensive Fabulous oysters 70p each -elsewhere in Whitstable 50p/60p but bigger & top quality hereThen I went back more recently. Got food poisoning. The owners refused to accept responsibility & made no apology. For that alone,I will never return. How sad

I've frequented this establishment many times and it never lets you down. The food is excellent, very well presented and flavoursome. We started with the caviar and qual eggs then I had the T-Bone medium rare (juicy) and the wife had the pheasant. We also had a Mediterranean sharing platter which I wasn't keen on myself. Washed down with a few rose and and some beer and the total was about £45 a head, call it £50 with the gratuity. It feels upmarket but I don't believe that's reflected in their prices. Good quality and good value. I'll be back that's for sure.

The pub is beautiful and cosy, the landlady was kind and cheerful and the food.....oh god, the food! We both had a starter of pigeon, not something you usually see on a pub menu and it was superbly cooked and tasted amazing. For my main I chose the steak burger with chips and onion rings, the burger was big, flavoursome and juicy and the touch I like is that the tomato ketchup on table was all homemade, not from a bottle! We will certainly come back to this awesome place if we are ever near the area again because it was outstanding!!

A little out of the way for anyone outside of Clacton but, if you are down for a break and you want a good meal out, you could do a lot worse. The menu is varied and full. All the meats come from local butchers and the vegetables are bought fresh every day. The only downside is, you tend to need to book in advance and they don't open on Monday or Tuesday.
