Check-in was painless, the man simply verified my order confirmation email and handed us wristbands. Off to tubing!!!! Let's keep it real, there are not enough tubes for the amount of people there. Many people were standing around the top of the Magic Carpet waiting for someone to toss their unwanted tube. But I was grateful to the loud attendants walking around, loudly explaining the rules of "Tube Sharing"- pretty much they don't want anyone standing away wasting time on their time slot for a tube, so get in a line and when it's your turn to go down and don't have one, the people behind you are prompted by the leads to share theirs. Not an ideal process as there is no signage and I can see how it can get chaotic and frustrating. We timed each line we were in and only got to go down 4 times, 30 min per line and taking into account the ride up on the magic carpet. All of that within our 2 hour timeframe- 4 times. Our kids had much more fun playing in the general snow play area anyway, but bummer about the organization of it all putting salt in the wound of pricey tickets!

He was very cheerful and helpful, and kind. At one point, my son's hat flew off halfway down the hill and he immediately yelled, "I'll get it!" and went running down the hill. He would enthusiastically and cheerfully come and offer to push anyone down the hill. I can't really express how much h he made the experience more enjoyable because of how he ran the mountain.

Equipment is included for kids 8 and under (size 4 and under). Steal! At that price point, this is the perfect snow day with a group of kids. For anyone outside of that range, rentals are $59 flat, whether you stay two hours or all day. Go all day to maximize your rentals! That said, the kids play area was pretty underwhelming for my kids (ages 10-12). The slopes were short, not all lanes were open, and there was only one black magic carpet running. That meant tubers, snowboarders, and skiers were all sharing it, which slowed things down quite a bit. Getting around wasn't the easiest either. There's only one entrance and exit and into the resort, so you're walking everything in while the kids carry their gear. Not terrible, but definitely inconvenient. We were told there was a tram running every 5 minutes, but it wasn't operating that day. My guess is they scale back operations on discounted days (fewer lanes open, no tram, only one black magic carpet). Parking was easy for the only entrance, which I appreciated, but it would be so much better if there was direct access to the kids area from the lot. Service was subpar. Staff weren't rude, but definitely not warm or helpful. No one showed the kids how to put on their boots or gear, and we weren't told helmets were required until my kids were already at the top of the slope, so I had to go all the way back to rentals. Also worth noting: kids 8 and under are restricted to the kids area only (no lifts or bigger slopes), which makes sense, but that wasn't clearly communicated upfront. Overall, the kids still had fun, and for $35, it's worth it. But I would only come back on a discounted day. I wouldn't pay full price for the experience as it currently is.

Be prepared for a long walk to Planet Kids if you have little ones, though there is a sleigh ride available from the Lodge to Planet Kids. Unfortunately, lunch was disappointing. The pizza was the only decent thing we ate. Both the chicken tenders and fries were very dry and stale. I'd recommend avoiding those two item for a better lunch experience.

This place has a genuine mom-and-pop feel, the kind where people actually care about the families coming through the door. Bekah at the front desk was the first person who really set the tone. My day had already been a bit hectic trying to coordinate everything, and she calmly helped straighten things out and get us settled in. Lindsay was fantastic out on the hill--super attentive and very protective of my boy's safety, which any parent immediately appreciates. Erik went above and beyond helping my 4-year-old son Sebastian when he was unsure about getting on the tube. That moment meant a lot to me as a parent. The kids working at the top of the hill kept the energy up and made it exciting for my boys every run. Back at the lodge, Bekah and Dee were everywhere helping people out and keeping things running smoothly. Dee in particular seemed to be all over the place making sure everyone had what they needed. Another big plus: they have all the gear you might need right there at the lodge, and the prices are very fair. If you forget something, don't turn around or stress about it--just settle in at the lodge and they'll get you taken care of. Honestly I could keep going, because everyone there contributed to making the day great. I was trying to divide my mind and body managing the kids, but the staff ended up being the glue that held the whole experience together. If you're bringing kids to Tahoe and want something fun, welcoming, and run by people who genuinely care, Tube Tahoe is the spot.

The road to get there was very slushy and I'm sure some would be getting stuck on the way out. A lot of families trying to play or go sledding on the small amount of hills. I suggest getting snow shoes to walk up the trails. I took my dog on a 20 ft long line leash. I saw a few other dogs and we kept to ourselves. The dumpster was broken so trash unfortunately was everywhere. Parking was a bit of a mess but I found a spot perfectly fine! I suggest bring your own hand sanitizer, wet wipes, toilet paper, a lunch, water, winter gear, and a calm attitude. Myself and my senior dog enjoyed every bit of it!

It was about 2 hours and 45 min from San Jose and the exit is right of I-80 (exit 156). You pay $30 at the Shell station and park and play. We came on 3/29 (Sat) and there were only 10 cars from about 11 am - 2 pm. The Shell station has a Taqueria but we had brought our own food. This is a perfect place if you have kids and just want to do some chill play time without any fuss. The snow wasn't fresh but we were fine with it because the sun was our and it was only 48 degrees. I even took off my jacket. This is a family friendly atmosphere and everyone was really nice. There are several porta potties but we didn't use them because we used the gas station ones when we paid our snow parking fee. I recommend bringing your lunch and snacks- the parking lot had a tailgate vibe. Only thing I wish they had prominent trash and recycle bins. We borrowed the boogie boards but the gas station also sold them. I highly recommend checking their website which has link to CalTrans website and a live webcam to check snow conditions.

It is a great place to "test the waters" and do some other things while you're at it. The tubing was a lot of fun, even on a warm slushy day. The setup for parents is really well thought thru, and I highly recommend visiting if you're looking for a "first time" out setup for your toddler or small child. If you want to have them try skiing or boarding, you'll want to rent the gear ahead of time as the nearest rental shop is a long walk for a parent trying to keep the first time experience as stress free as possible. Even though I'm not a beginner, I opted to join the class so I could stay with my group. The resort itself is pretty and has a few decent runs from the top, though there are somewhat limited options for getting to the summit. Because of this, the lift lines were often long. It also didn't seem like there were attendants managing how people loaded onto the chairs, so the four-seaters were frequently going up with only two people. That definitely made the wait times longer than they needed to be. The lesson itself was neither great nor bad. It mostly offered an opportunity to have someone supervise and guide you as you make your way down the easier slopes.
