My brother told me about this place that he has brought his kids to play. We are first timers with a 2.5 year old so it was perfect! It was about 2 hours and 45 min from San Jose and the exit is right of I-80 (exit 156). You pay $30 at the Shell station and park and play. We came on 3/29 (Sat) and there were only 10 cars from about 11 am - 2 pm. The Shell station has a Taqueria but we had brought our own food. This is a perfect place if you have kids and just want to do some chill play time without any fuss. The snow wasn't fresh but we were fine with it because the sun was our and it was only 48 degrees. I even took off my jacket. This is a family friendly atmosphere and everyone was really nice. There are several porta potties but we didn't use them because we used the gas station ones when we paid our snow parking fee. I recommend bringing your lunch and snacks- the parking lot had a tailgate vibe. Only thing I wish they had prominent trash and recycle bins. We borrowed the boogie boards but the gas station also sold them. I highly recommend checking their website which has link to CalTrans website and a live webcam to check snow conditions. read more

Visited today and although it was more ice than snow out with quite a few brown/dry patches, my son had a blast! We came for a day trip and spent a little over 3 hours playing in the snow and he loved being able to slide down on two different sides of the little hill and having a higher option and smaller option for when the big drop got busy. We weren't able to build a snow man or make snow angels due to it not being so snowy out but it was still perfect for sledding and a couple snow balls. I deducted a star on something that's slightly out of their control as I didn't notice any employees on sight during our 3.5 hour visit but there were a couple of people smoking cigarettes around all of the kids leaving the smell everywhere and I also had my baby with us so that was unfortunate. Parking is $30, we paid at the gas station. Quite a few vehicles didn't have parking permits and were on grounds the whole time we visited and were never ticketed.. Not saying to test your luck, but sucks some of us spent a pretty penny and others got away with it. Make sure to bring your own sled! We happened to forget ours and ended up spending $36.99 (plus tax) for a sled (saucers were $26.99 I believe) however this was also at the gas station (not taking this into account for review, just letting guests know for snow play purposes!) Bathrooms: porta-pottys on site near the parking spaces and men's + women's restrooms also available in the gas station. Overall a blast and look forward to going back at the end of the year when we can actually expect snow and enjoy more snow play. Would recommend for a day trip from the Bay Area. The drive there in back in one day and the amount of play time we got is totally worth it read more

It's a great place, inexpensive, and easy to get to. Had an extremely great time last year Feb 2024. However, currently 2/8/25, there isn't much snow, a little disappointing with a lot of dirt and brush showing through, especially in the afternoon. Just as we were pulling in, the nice lady working at the parking lot asked us to climb up into the snow area (only one side that had enough snow to be open) to take a look before we decided to buy the parking pass, telling us to go further north if we wanted more snow. So lets just say it, paying just to play in snow sucks. It's $25 here as of this review. I read and heard before it was cheaper----way cheaper as in free, back in the day. So why still gave this a 4 our of 5. Yes its $25, but it's 2023, inflation is happening, things are getting more expensive and lets look at the other places: Kingvale snow park VERY EXPENSIVE, $20 to park, then $25 PER PERSON Cisco Grove, is $15 to park then $15 PER PERSON Tahoe Donner in Truckee - $25-30 PER PERSON, but includes sleds, etc Boreal Tubing - $49 PER PERSON for 90 mins, just to watch $10 per person So that $25 PER CAR is sounding a lot better now right? It still sucks but hey, its the lesser of all evils. There are porter pottys here which like all are probably for absolute emergencies only. A nice thing is the convenience store and gas station right across for last minute things. The hills could be better and steeper or groomed a bit in the morning for the paying customers, but other than that, this might be the best value in terms of paying options other than the CA Sno park network of spots ($15 per day $40 per season) read more

This place isn't great. It is more for little kids under 4 years old. They didn't have tons of snow. It was a mix of snow and mud. Went on a Monday and it was empty. The snow is more icy and hard. When you call the number to check hours it says Monday-Friday but they are also open on weekends. It is right off the freeway. Paid at the gas station. Was able to use bathrooms at gas station too. Drove 20 more minutes to Donner and it had way more snow and it was soft and fluffy and it was free. Definitely keep driving to play in the snow for free. This place is for younger kids. I appreciated the easy entrance and guidance by the people in the parking lots. I took my grandsons for the first time so they could use their sleds. They were nonstop sledding and then took time off to play in the snow in the play area. There were at least eight tall snowmen that had been build and seemed to be enjoying watching the kids play. Love this place, went on Sunday but got there after 3pm. Still a lot of people but I'm guessing is not as packed as the morning or noon time. We didn't use a chain and not four wheel either so this spot is very good location to play snow. Very thick snow. Good area is u want to play sledding. U don't need to drive too far. A lot of places has good snow area but this one is definitely much closer if you coming from different area. We play there almost for two hours and a little dark. Still have people coming play a little. The only problem is seems like some people just throw their bottle and trash everywhere. Bring your own trash home if you go visit please because a lot of kids playing in the area and very dangerous for others if they broke it while playing. We have been to this park three times in the last two years. This sno park is the closest to the Bay Area to sled without needing to pass through chain control but is essentially a couple hills next to a parking lot at the Nyack freeway stop. The park is first come first serve. You pay and then you're completely on your own with no supervision and no guidelines which is amazing when the park is not crowded but can quickly get miserable when it fills due to the number of people walking directly up the middle of the sledding hills while other people are trying to go down or crashing into each other. The first day we went it was so crowded they closed the freeway exit and it was a zoo. The second day we went right when the park opened and enjoyed a glorious two hours before it got too crowded. A reasonable option for people that don't want to drive far but keep your expectations low. read more

We discovered this cute, free snow park on our way further up North of Lake Tahoe. TBH, I needed to stop for a restroom break and that is how we found it. It's next to a Shell gas station that had a mini mart if you needed anything from sleds to mittens. There were tons of families and everyone was having a good time. I felt there was a lot of space. However, perhaps because it was a free, there were a bit too many people with no masks. So just be aware. You can safely distance yourself just by going to other areas. My husband and I decided to take our daughter to Nyack Snow Park (read online its suitable for 2-8 year olds) and it is... just not much you can do at the Snow Park. When we arrived, we saw the gas station, we saw the big sign that says "Nyack Snow Park" and to pay inside the gas station/gas attendant to get a parking permit. It cost $25... super easy transaction. We drove across and parked. There were only 3 cars there and we arrived around 10:30am. It was full of snow and drizzling at the time we went. We also read on the weather app that it was supposed to be a snow storm but we actually were hit with rain. Lol. When you get to the huge parking lot we changed into our snow gear and unloaded our sled. The hills are very tiny, actually, barely any hills for sledding. I am glad my husband did not pick up snow tube because we saw a couple attempting to go down the hill but it was not steep enough or hard enough snow to actually enjoy it. We played in the snow for a little bit maybe an hour or hour and a half at max. You can only do so much... but i think there should have been hills for toddler ages to enjoy. We moved to a different spot of the snow park and attempted a different hill. IT WAS OK. Overall, maybe on another snow day/sunny day we can do this place again. We were looking for a closer snow park (we live in Vacaville) and this was a the closest location based on google research. read more

I was super confused when I got there. The word park eluded to something way different than what it is. It's essentially just a snow hill on a parking lot that it shared with a Burger King and gas station. I was totally confused. However, super convenient and did the job. We went yesterday and nobody was there. I thought we'd be charged for parking per other reviews but no. It was free. In all actuality, I'm not even sure how you go around charging for parking.
