We were in Paris for two weeks over Christmas and New Year's 2018-9. While waiting for the Doors…read moreat St Severin Church to open for our concert, we discovered the Pirates Candy shop. Paris is just filled with surprises like this. We broused around and I "discovered" the Crème Brule candies. Apart from the fact that Crème brule is one of my favourite deserts (and I make a really good Mocha one at home) the little candies were very appealing in this nonsensical representation of this lovely desert. We bought about a Kilo and brought them home to Canada. No they are not the epitome of French desert talents. But they are cute, a poetic attempt at a delicious sweet, and loads of fun to eat. They are both chewy and tasty, what I prize. I am now looking to buy more on line, so that should be a pretty good recommendation. If not on line, we will be in Lyon and Maussane in the south in the spring and am hopeful of finding more there. Just in case you wonder what my tastes are I really like "English Wine Gums" which are a bit like jujubes, but firmer, more chewy and very tasty. Best of all, by Canadian standards they are not expensive. And they go nicely with an Italian Amaro, slightly bitter.
