This dentist is very good and knowledgeable as well as very honest! I would recommend him to anyone with dental issues!!

The do poor quality work and are always trying to up sale you so they can do more work than necessary and they treat you bad if you're on Medi-Cal or pay with cash plus the main dentist is very rude and disrespectful not to mention the work that I got done on my kept having to get redone because he just wanted me to get a crown and I know this because despite me having work done on my tooth before and it lasted years till it broke ( but that only happened a month after I went to them for a cleaning) every time after that it kept chipping quick and quicker till after this last time they were supposed to fix, a day later it completely broke off. Im so glad I got my refund after their terrible service that day and I am NEVER GOING BACK AND I HOPE NONE OF YOU DO AS WELL not to mention how now my tooth are too smooth afterI had my back cavities filled and it feels like it's going to break every time I go to floss. I've been here twice and the staff and doctor are nice and helpful. The office is small, but cozy and inviting, so I feel like that sets the tone for the visit very well! The staff are polite and seem to have a good attitude even when I let them know I would be running late. The doctor is nice, gets the job done, and is attentive to the patients body language for discomfort and pain. They are definitely a flexible team and they have their routines well managed. Most of the staff is friendly except one of the ladies working the front counter. I was looking for a new dentist and landed on this place. When I arrived I let the office know I had just had X-rays completed and didn't want to pay for more. I suggested we request the recently completed X-rays form my prior dentist. The office told me they preferred to have their own and my insurance would pay again. When I sat in the chair I reiterated to staff X-rays were done recently and it may be best to request those. Staff talked me about of this again stating my other dentist would charge and make me sign something. So again I coalesced. Guess what happened after the exam and X-rays? The discourteous lady at the counter tells me I may have to pay for the X-rays they just took. I explained to her that I tried to prevent this several times before the exam. She then began to be condescending towards me asking if I knew what an exam was etc. I set my follow up appt and and as I was leaving she sarcastically told me "you be blessed sir" at that point I told her to cancel my appt. I just have to write a great review for Dr Chen and his staff. I was looking for a place with good reviews that excepted my denti-cal and I found this place. The reviews are exactly right. I had my wisdom teeth removed here and was a little nervous because they didnt put you to sleep. They were so thoughtful, caring and gentle. I'm not sure how I feel while writing this review but I need to.....So While Dr. Chen is amazing and knowledgeable....his billing receptionist is rude....lazy...and makes sassy remarks.....I've needed a rootcanal for some time now and it's been put off due to her refusing to find an Endontist in my provider network. While my mouth is literally killing me...I've tried myself to find one but have been unsuccessful. Whatever happened to good customer service?!!!!!! I highly recommend coming to see Dr Chen. Our family has been to several dentists in the Fresno area. Myself and children have had the same constant problem when going to the dentist we could never stay numb during a simple filling/procedure. I had avoided going to the dentist for many years because I couldn't stay numb my children started to dread going to the dentist as well. After my kids first visit they couldn't say enough good things about their visit, they were extremely happy with Dr Chen my kids even encouraged me to try him out me being reluctant I eventually made an appointment and went. Terrible Dr.!!! Don't go to him if you have Denti-Cal. You will be looked down upon. These were his words "you have Denti-Cal, we gave your family basic cleaning and x-ray for free, on our tax dollars that's all the services we can provide your family and we didn't charge you anything except $1 for adults." Our insurance should not have an impact on how good or terrible the service is performed on his patients. I should post up the after pictures so he can see how terrible the cleaning was. It was no cleaning. I should report this to the board. How unprofessional of him to be admitting special treatment based on your insurance coverage. He is getting paid regardless if the payment is through Denti-Cal or private insurance. read more

I am giving this review based only on staff, Doctor and office (not on insurance coverage). I "hate" going to the Dentist and had not been to one in a really long time. When I called to schedule an appointment, the girl who answered was very nice and scheduled me for the very next day, how great is that?! The office's location is nice, the office itself is really nice. The front office is clean and cute; back area where patients are seen was very clean and organized. Staff are soooo nice! I interacted with 3 different staff members, all were super friendly and caring. Dr Chen was also nice, he explained what was going on with my teeth, I felt very comfortable and at ease... I unfortunately have Medi-cal and will not be able to get the services I need at this office. Those services are covered (I know, I was a case specialist for Medi-cal and Cal-fresh a year ago before moving to Fresno), but if the Dr chooses not to get authorization for these services, it's okay, it's his practice. Again, location is great, office is nice and clean, staff and Dr are super nice! read more

Dr. Chen is an awesome dentist! He looks out for his patient's best interests and doesn't force you to have dental work done unless it's absolutely necessary. I've been to many dental offices around the valley and he is the most honest dentist you'll ever meet. I highly recommend his services to everyone... =) read more
