SG Fireplace Services - After Steve repaired the fireplace

I am so happy to write this review about the outstanding service provided by Steve…read more Our fireplace pilot light went out, and would not re-light despite our many attempts. Steve arrived at our home fully prepared with tools, a blanket (to cover the floor to prevent a mess), and a powerful vacuum. He explained in clear and comprehensible language what he thought the problem might be. As he tackled the job, he told us what he was doing each step of the way, including cleaning the fireplace. The pilot light issue was resolved. In addition to his competence and expertise, Steve was friendly and patient with us, as we had many questions. One quality that really stood out was communication: he quickly responded to my initial call, and thereafter notified me of his anticipated availability and arrival. I highly recommend S.G. Fireplace Services for any gas fireplace issues you might have.

We recently moved into a new home with a gas fireplace. While enjoying it one evening, the wind…read moreoutside blew out the fire including the pilot light. Even though I was able to get the pilot relit by myself, I still reached out to Alber's from which the previous homeowners purchased the gas insert. Steve was one of their recommended servicers. Steve came out, took everything out of the insert, inspected everything and returned everything where it should be. He even added additional embers to increase the reality of the fire. This is the first time I've had a gas fireplace but the price Steve charged seemed very reasonable. He recommended reinspecting the insert every 1-2 years depending on frequency of use. I will definitely be calling him back when we're ready for any work.

Requested to find source of mice in my gas fireplace. Ethan was sent to investigate the issue…read more None was found in the fireplaces which he cleaned and plugged an opening in a vent. He went on to check every room in my house for openings and found none. The outside vent was secured with a metal mesh to catch any unwanted animals from entering. He also went upstairs to my attic and found nothing there. The source of the occasional mice visitor is still a mystery but I feel so much better and recommend GARDEN STATE CHIMNEY highly. Excellent service ethic. And even better excellent tech. I highly recommend this company for all your chimney and fireplace needs. VERY FAIRLY PRICED

Dan will help you solve your chimney or fireplace issue with a smile. You will feel like you made a new friend. Dan has gone out of his way, on multiple occasions, to help me with my fireplace. His kindness is unmatched. In the past, he has made videos to help me light my pilot light. Today, he coached me through a fireplace issue, and when I couldn't get it to work, he called me and said he was in my neighborhood. He remembered that I am a teacher and might have the day off, and said he could come by to help. He was at my door in 20 minutes and refused to charge me for the visit. Dan runs his business professionally but with an extra dose of humanity and kindness. I cannot recommend Dan and Garden State Chimney enough.

Got custom fireplace doors for an original brick fireplace (I.e. non prefab, random size opening)…read more The results were great, measurements were right on, the finish was good and the welds looked professional. Packed well too. Sure, a big box store door would have been cheaper but then we wouldn't have been able to pick the size, finish material, handles etc. Plus this frame is THICK - all welded barstock, not a bit of sheet steel to be seen!

If you are going to install anything yourself or have someone other than their installer do this…read moreAVOID these people. We bought a ventless gas log set from them. I wanted to support a local business and had naïvely felt that they would stand behind what they sold so I did not mind paying the extra money. I would have been way better off buying it on Amazon or another site online! I already had the gas line so I just needed to replace the old log set. First of all, when my wife picked it up you must sign a waiver that says you have a total of 24 hours to inspect everything. Then they have a clause in the waiver that states it may need "FINE" tuning. They also claim they do not do the installation and support they have contractors that do it, but their website clearly states they do installs and service. I installed the unit and it would run for a minute and turn off. I went to the manufactures website and found out you cannot contact them or get support; you must contact the dealer you bought it from. I called to find out how to get it fixed under warranty. Now even though the website is covered with service and support options I was told they don't do the service or support I needed to call their contractor and schedule a service call. When you call the contractor it sends you back to Albers to schedule the service call ?????? Oh, and that is $300. The tech came out and found out the thermocouple was not near the pilot light, and he needed to take it all apart then move the pilot light and the thermocouple, so they got next to each other and aligned. I have a checkout sheet with the unit that states who built it and tested it, it all says it was all tested and passed. So, I called back again to see how I could get credit for the fixing the manufactures defect. I was now told that since they did not have to replace any parts it was not a manufactures defect in workmanship it was a "FINE TUNING" and therefore it was not covered, and I had to pay the $300 myself. So, I should not expect to pay over $2000 for a gas log set and then expect it to work out of the box. Imagine if you bought a fancy gas stove and one of the burns did not light so you called Maytag and they fixed it and handed you a bill for $300 tow day safter you bought it. Albers sees no problem with this. If I had just bought it from Amazon or another online vendor I could have packed it up and got another one that was manufactured correctly. Instead, it cost me extra to by it and then $300 extra to get it to work.
