One star is too good of a rating for TSA in Tricities. The usefulness of the agency in general is questionable at best, and smaller bored little airports like this one are the worst. More agents than passengers. A waste of money to employ these opportunists.
The fact that these "civil servants" are too lazy to further specify "a paste is considered a liquid because you can pour it" is a pathetic attempt to instill a false sense of security to overly harass passengers and confiscate their items. My experience was even worse when, after hearing of an hour delay for my flight, I attempted to collect my factory sealed jars of mustard I was forced to abandon minutes earlier, had been deemed un-returnable for my own safety of an allergic reaction to the air surrounding my jars. The supervisor gave a good attempt at lip service, running through the motions of pulling the small trash cans and tossing them back into their slots "looking" for them. Their lack of care, concern, practicality, and honesty was painfully obvious as you could tell there was no weight at the bottom of the bins.
I suspected the sneaky old woman who rudely confiscated them had pocketed a bonus for the day.
Absolutely pathetic. They can't even pass their own quality tests, so what good is this agency? The agents are more concerned with catching opportunities and attitudes. Even though this woman was old herself, she gave the man ahead of me a hard time for forgetting to take his laptop out. She was rude and appeared to want to teach us dumb passengers a lesson by asking rhetorically demeaning questions like, "are you AWARE of our liquid size limits" or "sir you need to take your laptop OUT of your bag". If she wants to teach lessons, she should be a teacher, but I suspect she is only concerned with squeezing respect she doesn't get naturally. Again, we were 2 of 4 passengers in the area.
Countless times have I passed through security forgetting a gel, true liquid, lighters, or even pocket knives that TSA failed to notice. Good intentions are only achieved if there are good people involved. read more
