I can't believe I have not reviewed Reagan National Airport yet…read more Reagan is a national airport only and it employs friendly, local staff. It is located in Arlington, VA and this is as close to Washington, DC proper as you're gonna get with an airport. This airport has grown and expanded over the years and was once a very small, one terminal airport, but that was before the Reagan years aka his name was added to it. The airport is very easy to navigate, due to its smaller size, and they are still upgrading - I mean does it ever really end lol. You can easily access the airport by car, uber/taxi and or metro, which is a huge plus for both local peeps and out-of-towners. All the necessities are here from travel shops to souvenirs to food & drink. Restrooms are modern with all automatic amenities and they are kept very clean. Welcome to DC and we hope you enjoy your stay in our Nation's lovely Capital because we're happy you're here. Cheers!

This terminal was very small, cramped and chaotic…read more I walked here from the metro and it's a bit of a hike from the metro stop from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 - probably a 10 minute walk. I'm pretty fast and fit and I was sweating! Not a lot in the way of food - I ate at the only "real" restaurant here, Reservoir, which was French and expensive but, pretty good. It's a nice place to hang out with charging ports while you wait bc, once you leave, there isn't really anywhere to relax or sit by the gate. Small shopping tunnel as you walk to the "gate" area with a large bar and it was pandemonium. Loud, crowded and bumping into people, not enough seating for the amount of people, etc. Something I havent' seen at an airport before... that's for sure. Not comfortable but it's a well-oiled machine cranking out the boarding and flights. The spherical shape the Southwest flights leave from at gates A1-A8 or so was extremely cramped, loud, and chaotic as about 3 flights were boarding and lining up back to back - the lines overlapped with other gates and boarding and the agents were calling over one another with directions. Our gate agent was a pro - fast and efficient boarding and we were ready to hit the road. Very friendly and easy boarding experience. I haven't flown Southwest in years and it was a nice plane and great boarding process. Southwest did a good job here - but, boy, was it an interesting experience with all

I prefer Reagan National over Washington Dulles any day of the week. Easy to navigate. Gorgeous…read morehigh ceilings with clean and stylish amenities, plenty of premium clubs if you are a AA Admiral, AMEX Platinum, or United Club member. Lots of food vendor options. And overall, an easy travel experience outside of when there a plane delays. Since we are usually flying into DC as opposed to out, it's easy to access all the major points so long as traffic isn't bad or during rush hour. From the terminals, you can see the U.S. Capital and the Washington Monument looking firm and erect, erect and firm. And if you want to access DC via the metro, there is a station right there to take you into town within 10 to 15 minutes. Arlington is right there as is the Pentagon. One of the better airports in the country.

Easy access to parking and close proximity to everything DC, NoVA, and Maryland has to offer…read more Terminal to arrival/baggage claim was a very short distance away. Definitely easier and better in that sense compared to flying in and out of IAD. Garage parking is free for the first hour. Something we take for granted as many other airports don't offer such a thing. Too bad just about all eatery places were closed when landing at 9pm or so. I wouldn't mind flying in and out of DCA in the future.

But they also have TSA Pre-Check and because I have a Known Traveler number, I get to use the great line that's just like security was ten years ago. Early in the morning, a long line was created due to a TSA drug dog was being used as another…read morescreening barrier. This dog did not have the training as police dogs in my opinion. The dog sniffed me twice and I continued to walk to the next line of screeners. All of a sudden, the handler runs in my direction and a screener yells, "we have a hit" and proceeds to escort me to another area because they claimed the dog sniffed contraband in my computer case. A detailed search through my bag, clothes, and a residue wipe to detect explosive was performed on me. After 10 minutes, I was given the green light but noticed the dog was not the one responsible for placing people into additional screenings. It was the handler who arbitrarily selected people in line and would claim the dog signaled for possible illegal contraband. I realize this is Washington DC but what a major abuse of power and a waste of valuable resources. Next time, I am avoiding DCA and driving in from PIT...a 3 hour drive but without the humility or embarrassment of being accused of having drugs on you and going through additional screenings to keep TSA employees busy instead of playing with their phones all day.
