Nothing about this place was good. It's been a decade removed from any reviews. I'm not sure how…read morethey are in business. I have been in town for three days for work. Wanted to eat supper somewhere that would be friendly, and good for me. I walked in a bit after 4 when they opened and a few patrons were in already. I walked around to check out the venue, and sat at a table... and waited. I saw two tables over get helped. For me no help or even acknowledging I'm there. I made a point of holding a menu at the table up so they would get the idea I wasn't there for nothing. I finally walked up to the the bar counter, menu in hand, and waited to be helped. It took a while. I ultimately asked for the Paddy Plate (a burger and fries), and a small Kilkenny. I paid my bill right away. 20 Swiss Frnc. The meal came and it was hamburger with sauce on toasted white bread on top of some barely fried potatoes. I ate the meal though it kept falling apart due to being white sandwich bread. I had it cut in half, and half of a half fell on the floor from being so flimsy. Wrapping up. No one asked if Id like another pint or could I get anything for you. The service was terrible, the food was terrible... and they didn't even have Irish music. It was too expensive for what I ordered. I'd go somewhere else if I were anyone reading this. 13 for paddy plate and 7 for not even a pint. Worst Irish pub I've ever been in and I travel the world.

It's a cool little bar, the food here isn't all that spectacular (I had a hamburger that came out…read morewith toast sandwich buns), but the feel of the place is quite nice, and everyone was really friendly. They also have a good variety of beers on top, and I had a great time here with my buddies.

We took a left turn somewhere and found ourselves walking down a stretch of quiet road. That road led us to a rather non-descript storefront with large, glass doors through which we spied a grand-looking espresso machine. In we went and had a pleasant experience at the three-week-old La Cyma. What I dug about the place was that it was spacious, yet tidy, sort of arty with a few choice bits of funky, old wooden furniture placed here and there, and, lastly, a barber's chair tucked back in the corner and ready to be used. La Cyma is a blend of cafe-during-the-day, bar at night, and hair salon anytime! There is a daily buffet/brunch for those who'd like to nosh, beer on tap, spirits, and, of course, espresso drinks. Update 2014: the espresso was quite bitter on my first trip here back in 2012, but it ain't no more, so problem sorted. Probably my absolute fave thing about La Cyma is there is a wee wooden box in the ladies' by the sink that has tampons in it for those in need. I have never, ever seen such an offering before in any cafe. Huge props to the (male) owners for being thoughtful. :) Note: I can't figure out for the life of me to correctly categorise new businesses and also think that Yelp might be stumped here as the place is a bar/resto/hair salon all-in-one!
