The full car park mid-week showed our high regard for the food to be shared by people more local - it was full and with 'quality motors'. QN looks to be a former railway building between Zurich airport and Wintherthur. The bar has an industrial vibe about it - dark with bare boards and again great service - but the restaurant is an oasis of calm - despite the frequent trains. I don't know of that many quality places to eat between Zurich airport and Wintherthur but at least I now know one!

We spotted the café because of its terrace and the young clientele. The place is really nice, with this retro look that draws Hipsters like a magnet. It is located in front of the Fritschiwiese Park so if you're bored you can always have a look at the people in the park :P We had a Bircher muesli, cappuccinos, croissants, scrambled eggs, bacon and some bread. The Bircher muesli was really good, and there was more than enough of it J I think I had never seen so many toppings on a single Bircher: I remember at least blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, raisins and 3 different sorts of nuts. It was a delight J My friends also liked their eggs, bacon and croissants. The only bad note here were the cappuccinos, as they came warm. Although prices were aligned with Zurich prices, I must say that my biggest complaint is the service. We had an unfriendly waiter who was confused on who ordered what, and each time we had to wait a lot to be served (maybe that's why our cappuccinos came warm). And it's not like the place was full. I would go back again for a beer or so (I have seen that they also serve nice Belgian beers) or even have dinner there but I hope that next time the service will be a bit more efficient and friendly.

In the summer, you can really feel the beauty of this location as the soft, cool breeze of the Sihl runs by you as you sit outside with a drink. A no-fuss BBQ food is also available for purchase during outdoor friendly weather. The only negative I find is that there can be at times a lot of smokers outside putting a damper on the nice air, but this is more of a Zurich thang, not El Lokal's fault. The convenience of this location is key - it's a short walk from the Sihlpost stop (Lines 3, 14, 31). Frequented by real hipsters (ya know, those that would never call themselves hipsters), they host regular live band concerts in a cozy atmosphere. Sadly I've heard that this is running into tough times, as I was told this was attributed to younger generations (Millennials/Generation Z...) trending more into club hopping and not so much into live music in small cozy venues. So please support this place and attend a concert here with some friends - could be a great time! Drinks selections are decent, and will please the patriotic Swiss soft drink lovers as they carry stuff from the local Vivi Kola. But hopefully, unlike my favorite pirate Jack Sparrow, you won't be saying "why is the rum gone" when you are here!
