This hotel is now called 474 hotel as you can see from the front of the building
The hotel is very conveniently located, you are just blocks from the theater District and the obelisk, but you're honestly not that far to walk to the pink house or other areas. I know there is easy bus transit here as well, but we had Tour Guides picking us up at the hotel.
Our hotel room was ready around 1 PM, so a little early, and that was nice since we were disembarking a cruise ship. They will store your luggage in a safe room so you can explore a bit if you like. The Front Desk staff have been very friendly and helpful.
Our room was clean and comfortable. The hardwood floors were very nice as well as the mini split cooled the room very effectively. I will say the water pressure is pretty intense here and you had plenty of hot water. There is a hot pot with smaller espresso sized coffee cups. You also have a decent sized fridge/cooler.
Unfortunately, we were assigned a king room on the first floor with a rundown view of a parking lot, but other than that, our stay was comfortable
The breakfast room is just one floor down and while they are simple offerings, we were appreciative of the scrambled eggs and one or two other hot items each morning as well as ham, cold cuts, and cheese- many types of breads, pastries, cereals and fruit. Note that coffee is included, but if you want espresso or a latte drink, those had to charged. There is a little outdoor patio too if you wish that was quite cute.
Breakfast was offered from 6:30 AM to 10 PM.
As to the negative, the walls in this hotel are really thin. I could hear somebody's text messaging dinging them next-door so we've had to be very quiet while we're in our room.
There is a parking garage next-door if you have your own car- we did not so I do not know the rates.
They do not have a fitness center, however, they will offer you a pass to the YMCA, which is just a short walk away
They will exchange US dollars for Argentinian pesos at the front desk but just note that the rate is not so great. Today's comparison was 1320 versus 1390 at a different Cambio -but if you'd rather not brave the hawkers on Florida Street, this is a safe option
Just a note in many parts of town you really shouldn't wear jewelry and that includes rings, necklaces, and possibly even your watch. Don't display anything and keep your phone in your pocket when you're not using it. We actually bought phone tethers and felt a little safer with keeping our phones in our possession. Our friend had a necklace ripped right off her neck on Saturday near the Teatro Colon, so please take this seriously. It's a big town and it's busy and full of all sorts of people.
We liked the restaurant that is about a block away that served pizza, empanadas and some grilled items. It's close, prices were reasonable and they were friendly.
I'll post the pricing for laundry service. It was absolutely over the top expensive. I'm also posting the pricing of the minibar items in the room. There are Carrefour express stores all around, so get your snacks, wine, and other things you want from there and bring them back to your room. You could also just stop at one of the kiosks there's one just two blocks away. read more
