Everyone has an opinion in these reviews, but just remember, it is theirs, and not the business we…read morehear from! My 3 1/2 months at JHH was warm and amazing! I felt incredibly cared for and thought of! And honestly, I do NOT know where I'd be right now without them! As for staff, it's not my business to air the laundry, but the fact of the matter is, if you get kicked out of a shelter, you probably deserved it! I had to swallow my pride a time or two as well, but did it out of maturity, and respect! I have HUGE respect for the STAFF and founders of JHH!!!!!!!!!! I watched a lot of details in how these shelters are run, and was amazed at just the logistics alone!!!!!! I'll sum it up, busy busy busy!!!! :O

Jewels helping hands?? What a flipping JOKE!! To make a long story short, my husband and I came to…read morethem for shelter as I was trying to hopefully heal and recover from a procedure I had at the hospital just recently. Anyway, we were there 3 to 4 months, we always had been kind, courteous and respectful to both residents and staff, maybe except 1 we butt heads with and that's only because if you don't want to give me the same kind of respect I show you I'm sure as hell not going to give you any, and she knows who she is, she is staff there, yet, she lives there just as the rest of us, she's homeless too. So, I guess it's just fine for her to break rules and shit, but when it comes to us....anyways, what I'm saying, my husband and I missed the last bus to get to the shelter before curfew but we called several times and nobody answered till we asked a resident to please give their phone to the staff so we can explain the situation....needless to say, WE DID follow the rules and guidelines for calling in but for some reason we weren't given the chance to explain our side, we were talked over and basically, Sheryl, last name I really don't care, tossed us out like peices of trash......We have personally never done anything to this chick except talk to her with the upmost respect since we've been there and for her to turn around and Do us dirty like she did?! She's nothing but two faced, judgemental and she's the one who's disrespectful!! It's disgusting to me how people like that can be so nice and shit to you one moment than turn around and straight be freaking FAKE as least I can go to bed every night knowing my conscious is clear as a bell, not fake. Belive me...I'll still be sleeping great! So jewels helping hands, Your a DISGUSTING JOKE!! Thanks for nothing!! And watch out....KARMA, she's

A womxns, low barrier, emergency shelter that has top and bottom bunk beds, and a pet friendly…read moresection for those with service or support animals going into homelessness. It has been a major stepping stone for decades to get womxn off the street in Spokane, stay safe and get help. Some staff are well experienced with some of the same struggles as shelter guests, and these ones generally care deeply about helping the community. The whole property has decent camera coverage and caring security also. The new building and program management has shown problems with planning, budgeting, and support. The shelter's courtyard modernist fence has gaps between its boards that allow people to see, talk, and pass things through. It's been jumped multiple times and creeps will walk or drive up to it to spy on guests and ask people about who is staying there. The building and neighborhood has been the scene of squalor, plus plenty of petty and horrific crimes. People and pets have been seriously hurt or traumatized here or nearby. Setting proper rules and restrictions, and enforcing them has been a huge problem, while its progress is slowed down by senseless bureaucracy and stubbornness. Sometimes there's minimal leeway for some people with dietary restrictions and people go hungry here. Some of the stuff served is barely filling if edible. They have problems getting and retaining staff because they constantly have them dealing with overly stressful situations, often caused by unnecessary drama and abuse that shouldn't have been tolerated. The better staff get burnt out and are crutches for a failing workforce that barely shows up and isn't up to the task at hand. A lot of the staff now are lazy, doing the bare minimum for their paycheck and playing dumb about they're rules and expectations, while others are extremely narcissistic and have perverse power trips while abusing and twisting every situation to hurt people more. Some staff have had scandalous problems with each other and residents. There's very little accountability for bad staff, especially with how stretched thin they are. Some let the stress get to them very negatively, becoming apathetic, neglectful, rude, or down right abusive. Many staff pick favorites and bend rules, while they and other guests get away with absurd acts of theft, racism, homophobia, and drug, verbal, and sometimes physical abuse. They have let major thieves back in multiple times and are just enabling them to hurt this place more. I've heard multiple staff laughing and joking about kicking people out to die in the cold or suffer the insanity in the streets of this town. So many staff and residents appear untouchable and are just let loose to abuse as they please. They'll pick on the elderly, sick, disabled, neurodivergents, and lgbtq+ people there. I don't get how they can kick vulnerable and innocent people out, but let those who constantly steal, and abuse drugs and other people and animals back in as much as they do. As a non binary person I suffered so much targeted theft, verbal abuse, stalking, constant death threats and have been bullied and abused by staff multiple times. They've moved guests into filthy places with pest infestations already present, and said they should have expected this since their moving into low income housing. They constantly let cisgender men and registered sex offenders of both sexes inside, despite there being some youth in the apartments above. They need to have more common sense about the dangerous people they continuously let in carelessly. And their case managers keep trying to move sex offenders into buildings with youth. And despite all of this, Hope House is better than a lot of other shelters and programs in the area. It's a shame that it feels like the bare minimum is done sometimes and a lot of stuff gets sweeped under the rug. This place shouldn't have its history and mission squandered or ended. It has helped so many before, now, and can in the future. It just needs major revamps and restructuring if it's to continue on helping how it's supposed to.

"Go therefore and Make Disciples of all the nations, Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo I am with you always, even to the end of the age." This is our primary and only goal and purpose, of course sharing the life changing message of Jesus Christ is part of making disciples. We launched a homeless ministry May of 2015 as one venue for making disciples. We feed breakfast and provide a sack lunch now to over 500 a month. We provide clothing, water, we take them in, we visit them in the hospital and at jail to fulfill Matthew 25:35-40. We pray with them and share with them the Life Changing Message of Jesus Christ Monday through Saturday. We have as a result established numerous discipleship groups. One of our early goals was to be an international organization. We reached that goal July of 2017. We now serve three churches in Kenya and one in Pakistan currently. See our new Kenya tab on this website. Blessings to you and thank you for your prayers and donations.
