Theatre is a fire trap. Production value has gotten really bad. Ticket prices are ridiculous for community theatre. Go anywhere else!

All the seats are actually good, but next time I will go early for a better seat choice. I actually liked the theater, even though its been neglected for many years. The outside of building is in great shape. The bathrooms are on the second floor, theater on third floor. Elevators are old and slow, we decided to use the stairs instead. No concessions, so eat before you attend. They are taking donations for the upgrade of the seats, I will post pics. The play was excellent, all the actors did such a wonderful job! I will watch the website for future plays. My daughter attended medical school at USC for 6yrs, so I have first hand experience on what the school charges for fees. Im really disappointed that the school has failed the up keep of this historic building. Im not accepting any excuses, its actually shameful. The Arts dept, staff and students deserve better than this. If you want the real history of the theatre, read the truth. I wasn't surprised at all. https://sc.edu/about/our_history/university_history/presidential_commission/commission_reports/final_report/appendices/appendix-11/recommended-for-removal/longstreet_theatre.php

My youngest daughter has an interest in theater and I wanted to give her an experience that would encourage and inspire her to continue to express herself through acting. While I'm originally from Lexington, I now live in Honolulu, Hawaii. So I did some research online and saw that there was to be a performance while we were in town. I jumped at the opportunity and purchased tickets for us. The prices were very reasonable and we were able to get seats near the front/close to the stage - but not uncomfortably close. The theater itself was very well maintained, especially since it's a older/historic building. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming. They even offered to print our tickets since we had no way of doing so. Also, the need to print tickets never occurred to me as I've converted to having most things in digital format in my day to day life. We were guided to our seats and given a thorough theater layout (pointing out restroom locations, exits, etc.) The highlight of the evening, of course, was the performance. We were both impressed with how incredibly talented the performers were at this community theater. I would love to visit again next time we're in town and if I were to live in the Columbia area, I am confident that my family and I would have season tickets.

Last night I was lucky enough to catch a FREE show by the South Carolina Shakespeare Company of…read more"Pride and Prejudice" at Finlay Park! It was directed by Linda Khoury and starred several talented actors and actresses, many USC theater graduates. JoAnna Criswell and Christine Von Schultzendorff were the dialect coaches who made everyone sound authentic and true to that time. Katie Mixon did an outstanding job playing the part of Elizabeth Bennet, she was in just about every scene and stayed in character throughout the entire 2+ hour performance, it was amazing. Ruth Glowacki was hilarious as Mrs. Bennett, she dominated every scene that she was in and almost always had the audience in fits of laughter. However George Spelvin stole the entire show as Mr. Collins, he was vile and slithering, and totally believable as someone you'd want to run far away from and be repulsed by! His command of every scene was AWESOME. As the performance was outdoors the actors and production staff were vulnerable to things out of their control. A few times ambulance cars drove by creating a raucous, a handful of times the wind picked up and props on the stage fell, despite these distractions the actors did not miss a beat, and kept the play going. The costumes and stage design were terrific, and the setting at the park was beautiful. I can't believe they do these performances for free, the quality of the show was excellent, and anyone passing by would never know that they did not charge a penny! They have a couple more plays coming up, "I Hate Hamlet" will show for two weekends in February and "A Servant of Two Masters" will be held for two weekends in April. If you can catch a show with this Company, I highly recommend it!

Well folks here is another festival my wife and i went to in June 2016 and we will be back again!…read moreWhy? Because it was super fun and not to big. It showcased how country folks enjoy the day and the harvesting of their crops. This festival is located in Trenton, SC, head north then turn left towards GA you'll see it on your right! When we arrived we found ample parking, We parked so close you could smell the peaches! The layout of the festival highlights the main stage on one side and the peaches for sale on the other , with vendors and craftsman all around. The food area was in the back. It was sponsored by "Billy's Super Store". I guess they wanted you to exercise as you go get a deep fried Oreo, or a Big Boy Cookie! Ok the Big Boy Cookies are amazing! They do deliver! We found a number of vendors selling homemade items we haven't seen elsewhere, for a good price.Good thing the car was parked close! Whether you love crafts, tractors (I do love tractors!) sweet looking cars, or delicious food, the Ridge Peach Festival has something for everyone, even my Yankee wife!. A Country Store featuring home canned peach preserves, jams, and jellies, along with peach desserts and ice cream are all waiting for you to eat and buy! And we did! The peaches were harvested that morning at Trenton farms down the road a piece and we were able to buy a large basket of peaches for only $10! and they were only three hours off the tree when we bought them! We went to one of the food vendors and i ordered a hot dog with everything with fries and my wife had the cheeseburger with everything. It was fun to watch them cook on the grill and talk to them. we found a table with a good view of the parade which was getting ready to start. Nothing makes a day better than eating good food and watching a country parade! Oh yes it was really a country parade, all with a band, firetrucks, cloggers, horses and bikers! Fun to watch as we devoured our lunch but we still had some room for the specialty of the fair, peach ice cream! Dear me the line was long for the ice cream but I must say it was worth it! So fresh and creamy. They had a really nice children's area sponsored by "Log Creek Timber and Ridge Parts and Supply" Did I mention we were in the country? Over all we really had a great time in this small town. I was told by one of the vendors this festival has been around since 1970 and they were expecting about 15,000 folks here! All I can say was when we were leaving there lines of cars down the road waiting to get in. I encourage everyone down here in the lowcountry to try some of the small town festival and be sure to eat a fried Oreo! By the way their porta a potties were super clean and nice smelling. In fact they had folks whose only job that day was to keep them clean! Now that's friendly!
