The West Virginia Botanic Garden wasn't quite blooming when we visited in the spring, and the trees…read morewere still bare, but it was beautiful nonetheless. Plus, it's free. I mean, come on! How can you not like a free botanic garden? Plus, it's the only botanical garden in the state of West Virginia. Alright, that settles it! This place is great. It was nice to walk around this free and unique botanical garden, and see what we could see. If you start at the education center, you can follow a path by foot that will take you down to the Children's Adventure Garden, the Butterfly Garden and the Secret Garden. But if you're not up for walking, you can also drive there. There's a parking lot that's right next to all of those areas. I have children, so we headed straight to the children's garden. It's tiny and meant for tiny people, which I sometimes forget my children are not anymore. This children's garden would be perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. There are rocks to climb, a tunnel to go through, a mini rock wall to scale, and some chairs to sit in. There's also a sensory table with some sand and shovels, which did not impress my almost-tween child who was playing with it. But it's hard to impress a tween, you know? I think young children will love all of the children's garden (even the sandbox sensory table) because young children love things more easily than us older people. The botanical garden has a couple of different trails that you can follow that we did not during our visit. There is a fairy garden here, as well as a few bridges, an overlook and a big pond. If we had more time and energy, we definitely would have followed the trails to see all of these things! We did discover some hammocks that were connected to a couple of trees, which was a nice surprise. It was cool to just rock gently, supported by trees, breathing in the air that the trees were providing.

Downtown Morgantown has lots of murals and public art everywhere, and I tried to see as many pieces…read moreas I could as I explored the area. Golden Winds, this mural that was created by a local artist named Bernie Wilke, is on a building on the corner of High Street and Fayette Street. The mural shows a girl coming out of a brick wall with a ribbon, and a bunch of people doing various things. Apparently, the mural is supposed to symbolize people following their passions. I love it because the mural included a woman doing yoga! (She's in Warrior III pose, in case you're wondering.) Yoga is definitely one of my passions, and it makes me happy that it was included in a piece of art for everyone to enjoy. Golden Wind is a colorful and fun piece of large-scale art, and I'm glad I got to see it in person while I was in Morgantown.

We had such an amazing time here…read more This is an indoor, black light, 13 hole course and even if you don't LOVE cryptids now, you will once you finish this course! We found this course because we were checking out the West Virginia Paranormal Trail and when we arrived it was raining and they were closed but we decided to wait a while outside until they opened and I am SO glad we did. It's $12 per person but you can go through again for only $5 if you want. We probably would have done another round ourselves but time wasn't on our side. They give you a "lore card" and a score card so you get to learn all about the cryptids they feature while you play through and it is just so much fun. My favorites were the Flatwoods Monster and of course the Moth Man but it was cool to learn about some I had never heard of before as well and honestly we were tickled and smiling the whole time we were inside. It is small and does get warm inside and we were lucky that there were only a few other people when we went because they started getting busy as we were leaving and it was pretty cramped. If anything I hope that encourages them to open a larger spot and add even more holes. The owners were lovely too. They were warm and friendly and they had a super eclectic and well curated gift shop at the end of the course. We ended up getting a candle and some snacks but believe me, I wanted everything. I even asked about buying a display stand they were using for merch because it was so adorable and they made a joke about everything having a price. Then, as we were walking out, I saw a mask on the wall that I knew my hubby would love so I walked back and asked if they would sell me that. It turns out they had one in the back that they had had forever and were happy to sell it to me. The price was reasonable too so it was just a cherry on an already incredible experience. I beat my husband by a WHOPPING 11 strokes btw but that tidbit is really just for me. I hope the rest of the review was helpful and entices you to head over and support this fantastic establishment. You won't regret it.

The course itself is cool, but they are easier than we expected. The decorations are fitting for the story and entertaining. The glow in the dark aspects are definitely intriguing for kids and adults alike. You finish your round in the gift store, which has some cool stuff in it as well. We did not buy anything, but it was interesting to see it all and listen to some of the local stories.

Don Knotts was born and raised in Morgantown, went to school at West Virginia University, and started his career as a ventriloquist at the Metropolitan Theatre in downtown Morgantown. His statue sits outside of the theatre building. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I would guess that Don is probably one of the most famous people to come out of this West Virginia town. Certainly the most famous person from Morgantown to wear ascots and polyester leisure suits on television. The statue is on a busy one-way street, but you'll need to park across the street at one of the metered spots, or in one of the parking lots. This is a busy college town, so finding parking can be a chore, but Ralph Furley is worth the little bit of effort.

Any fan of Don Knotts should make the trek here in Morgantown, which was the TV legend's hometown…read more It was unveiled here in 2016 in front of the theatre where he started out as a ventriloquist. He of course would become best known for his roles on "The Andy Griffith Show" and "Three's Company" and others. But he always had the goofy look that even though no one took very seriously, was still lovable and is a reminder of how he always made us laugh. It's on a busy downtown street, but its not far from a paid lot.

I spent 4 years going up and down hills every day here in Morgantown. If you're looking for a great workout in between classes, you've come to the right spot. WVU offers a wide variety of career options, from Forensic Science, to Zoology, to Economics and Communications. They have an amazing campus that caters to all interests. I personally started out as a Forensic Science pre-major, switched over to Psychology, and eventually double-majored in Sociology. It can be done! I always told my friends that it seems very easy to get into WVU, but hard to stay in. It is a very large school (serving over 30,000 students), and has been known to be a huge "party school." I could write an insanely large review, but won't because it's not about me reminiscing, it's about me sharing what I loved about this university. WVU offers great study abroad programs, professors who are invested in student's success, and a gorgeous campus in the hills of West Virginia. The town itself has expanded to accommodate the large amount people. Is it a random place to go to school? For some, absolutely. But I have no regrets. I'm a Mountaineer for life.

The on site restaurant was great to have some drinks and snacks although we never had a full meal there. The one server we had (I am sad I forgot his name) was amazing. The staff was consistently aloof (I stayed almost a full work week, so I met a number of them) and made me feel like either I was being an inconvenience or they had no idea what was happening with basic requests like "could you hold on to this suitcase for the morning" and "I need to get something out of my car." The valet parking is fine, but they park the cars so close together that getting something out of your car becomes an acrobatic act I am simply too old for. And the bar food is good but frankly too expensive for what you get. The location in downtown makes up for a lot, and none of this was dramatically bad when the room was clean and spacious, but they have some work to do on the customer service front.

I recommend if you need to go here but you probably will to get your passport just pick your patience. The gentleman who everyone Ranson raves about on yelp and or Google is not so much as rude as he just doesn't have much of a personality. I didn't really find him to be rude even after I had to wait for him for 10 minutes after his collar told him someone is waiting to get a passport. The customer service is not HORRIBLE just take your patience :)

They do as that you wash your hands before you touch anything there are sooooo many things to paint from coffee mugs to picture frames! You can walk up and get up to 4 colors on your paint plates. You can pick your colors form the wall where they have all they colors numbered and you can see what they look like painted and glazed pretty neat!
